All you need are the free tools I'm going to share with you, plus my plug-and-play prompts, which I'm going to give you for free for you to get unstuck and finally start getting on camera. My name is Shauna. I am the founder of Social Ways Media, and today I want you to walk away knowing how to confidently create an Instagram Reel that you can utilize on both Instagram and Facebook that will increase your visibility and your brand awareness. Now, it's no secret that video is extremely important, especially as we move into this world of AI overload and having that type of brand recognition, even if you're not saying anything and it's just your presence, is extremely important to build trust and visibility with your ideal audience. Now, I know you have seen the reels where you see people doing things or they are like, uh, doing a different activity and you can see that there's text that comes up on top of it and then on top of it there is some music that is paired with it. I'm sure you've also heard the term trending audio and maybe you're not exactly sure what those things mean, but in this video I wanna show you how you can quickly create that exact type of video that will be appealing to your ideal audience. You've seen these videos. It's time for you to stop being a viewer and for you to start being a creator for your own business growth. There are 2 types of videos that I'm going to show you how to create today. One, we are going to be creating B-roll footage with text overlay. That is where you see footage of some sort of other activity. Maybe you're you're drinking coffee, maybe you're playing with your dog, maybe you're outside chasing your kids, and it has that video happening. And then we're going to have the text that is going to show up on top of it, and then we're going to pair that with music. Number 2, we are going to be talking about videos that are filmed in sync with the audio, and that is where you see people either mouthing the words that the video says, so they're kind of like lip talking, uh, to whatever the audio is, or maybe they're doing very specific movements that are within the beat of the music while it is delivering a message. Now, all you need in order to get started is one, you obviously need to have the app Instagram downloaded because I'm going to show you how to save trending audio, use trending audio, and actually utilizing the in-platform editing that they have inside of Instagram. But I'm also going to be showing you number 2, Edits by Instagram. This is a brand new app and it was kind of sort of Instagram's answer to CapCut and some of these other third-party tools. And they decided we're gonna give you basically everything that these premium products have for free because we're hoping it will make people post more and create content for Instagram. And to be honest with you, I've been playing around with Edits and I actually really like the platform. And then number 3, if you need ideas for you to create this plug-and-play content, I have the perfect guide. It's specifically curated for insurance agents. It is called Hooked, and I will have that link inside of the description. You will get 50 different pieces of content that you can utilize. 25 are talking, but 25 are non-talking and will be completely applicable to what we are talking about today. And 4, of course, you can always follow me on Instagram where I am sharing different ideas for you to utilize these 2 different, uh, types of approaches for your own content. So up first, let's take a quick tour of Instagram. Now, this is not an in-depth tour of Instagram. This is to quickly get you to be able to identify trending audio, save trending audio, and then be able to quickly create a video. Now, something that you need to know, the word audio or trending audio, it simply means audio that is within the platform of Instagram and Facebook. So Meta platforms, it's very important that you know that you cannot utilize these sounds from here for a couple of places. One, for any other social media. So for the purpose of this video, since I'm filming this for YouTube, I can't have the sound on, on my phone. I don't want it to pick up any audio that's not okay for me to utilize on YouTube. So you cannot use the audio on any other platforms. If you create a video that you absolutely love, then you can always download that video and replace the audio with something else for you to be able to utilize it on like YouTube or LinkedIn. But don't overwhelm yourself. Let's start with just focusing on getting some content on Instagram and also Facebook. Number 2, you cannot use the audio that's in the platform for paid ads. So if you have a post that's doing really well, you cannot boost it, you cannot utilize it for an ad. There is a Meta sound collection library that you absolutely can download the audio and you can use that for paid ads. But I just want you to be aware of the videos that we're creating here is for organic reach. All right, so let's jump into Instagram. So very quickly, when you get into Instagram, let me give you a very quick little tour at the bottom. So we've got the home button, which is going to take you to where where it shows kind of some of who you're following and some of whatever the algorithm decides to show you, right? Where you can scroll through. Next, we've got the search bar where you can actually look up different things within the platform. Number 3, we've got the plus button, and this is where you would actually go to use the in-platform editor, which we're going to get to here in a second. So I'm going to show you at the bottom, you can choose which type of, uh, video you are wanting to create. Is it a story? Is it a post? Is it a reel? All right, I'm gonna X out of that. Then we are going to go over to the next little area, which is where you actually can view reels. Now I'm gonna stop here for just a second and show you. I have no idea what reels we're going to see. Obviously you scroll through reels by moving them up. Whenever you see one that you want to know where the audio came from, every single reel that you look at, if you go over here, we're gonna use one of my reels that I am using. Music for, let me grab one. Okay, this one I am using music for, and this one I actually have a typo in, so it's perfect for me to tell you, don't overthink. All right, in the very far bottom, you are going to see this little square, and whenever I click on that, it is going to show you what the audio is that I utilized. And the really cool thing about this is you can actually see other reels that used the audio in their own way. So for example, if there is a trend of utilizing a specific specific beat, like maybe to drop information, you're able to go see how other creators have utilized it. Now you've got a couple of options. If I want to, I can save this audio. You see the little button that represents save? If I click on that, it's going to save it into a collection. I'm gonna show you where you can go grab it. Alternatively, if I click that use audio button, it's going to open up the video editor and it's going to gimme the opportunity to dive in. We're going to get there in just a moment. Now I am going to click that little over area, and then I'm going to click the home button, and I'm gonna show you where you're gonna find all of the audio that you've decided to save. So I'm gonna click on my profile photo at the bottom. I'm going to scroll up and I'm gonna click on the hamburger menu. That hamburger menu is going to open up my settings, and at the very top I see saved. When I click on saved, I'm going to see a couple of different collections. Now you are able to save a reel. The reason why you would save a reel is for 3 different reasons. One, you wanna use it as a reference. You want to, like there was value dropped in it, you wanna go back and utilize it. Like maybe I shared different hooks you can use that week and you're like, I'm gonna save this video for reference so I can actually use the content that's in it. 2, you might decide you wanna remix it. That's a different video. That's where you see people talking with the actual reel behind them, or 3, you might might wanna use it as inspiration for you to remake. So you're like, this is a video, I'm gonna do my own version of that. But that's a video for another time. We are looking at the audio area. So when I click on the audio area, I can see all of the audio that I decided to save. Now, another really cool thing, I'm gonna click the over arrow and I'm going to go click on the video button so I can see reels. Anytime you are scrolling through and you see a reel, and you click on the bottom button and it opens up the actual audio that they're using, you can click on the top button where it says trending and you can actually see some different trending audio that is happening right now. Listen to it, and if you decide you wanna save it, then you actually can. And that is a quick little tour of Instagram. In this video, I am going to give you a brief little tour of the app Edits by Instagram. Now I have actually quite enjoyed using this little tool, and I think that it is a wonderful little extra add-on. You are able to connect it with your Instagram page so that way when you create a video in Edits, it is seamless for you to be able to post it over. And also, I really like that whatever content you save on Instagram is also going to show up in the Edits app. So let's hop in and look at what's going on with this cute little guy. All right, so I clicked on the Edits app. And the first place that it is probably going to take you to, I just scooted over, is the center icon where it's got the 4 different, uh, little icons around it. And this is where any of your projects are that you're working on or where you can upload video content. So when I click that little plus button, I can choose any of the content that I have. It will upload it and it will automatically start creating a, uh, little project for you to work on. Now, whenever you see the word original audio, that just means the audio that was originally in the video. Like me talking right now is the original audio here. The actual trending audio or sound audio is going to be considered a different category. So I'm gonna click out the X and now I'm just gonna kind of walk you through how to navigate this app. So on the far left, that kind of represents a sticky note because if you see at the upper top where it says stickies, that is for you to click the little plus icon and you can write down an idea that you have. If you have this great brilliant idea for a video, you wanna make, you can write it down and then it's all kind of saved for you right there. So that's pretty cool. Then we've got the little saved icon where it shows reels, and when you click on that, you are going to see all of the reels that you have saved over on Instagram. It's not where you're gonna find your saved audio list, but you are going to find any of the reels that you have saved where you can go through and take a look at them. Then we've got the audio button, and this is where you are able to move through and actually look at like, what is the music that's available for you to use? You can look at it that way. Some people enjoy that. And then last but not least is the collections of the way that you have saved all of your reels. I'm gonna scoot over to where it looks like this little play button. And when I click on this, it is going to take you through different reels that exist on Instagram, and it's supposed to be inspiration for you. So you can scroll through, see, they try to say, here's some things that your business could benefit from. If you like it, you can click the little save button for you to save the audio. You can even click the little plus button. You can write down an idea that's going to be stuck to that reel. So whenever you come back to it, you can utilize it. So that's kind of a cool little feature. Then of course in the middle we have our video clips and then we've got the little record button where you can video yourself, which we're gonna be coming right back here, uh, very shortly because I'm gonna show you here in a minute that little button up there where it looks like a little music note. That is where you are going to find all of the different audio that you were able to utilize for your video, whether it's saved, trending, or it is something that is from original. All right, then we are going to click the other little one, and the last one just simply shows you what is going on with your account. It's kind of a nice little insights. So that's my quick little tour of edits. All right, let's make a video. Now the first one that we are going to make, I am going to call text overlay with Instagram audio. Now we are going to be utilizing both the in-platform app and the Edits app. I prefer the Edits app, and the reason for this is because I just think it's easier to have all of my projects contained in one little area. It's like its own little nice and neat container versus it living over on Reels. If you are going to quickly make the content and get it posted, it might not matter to you, but if you might want to be able to pause and come back, I just find it a little bit easier to go back to the project on edits versus go back to the draft on Reels, but they're both very, very similar. So first, let's start with Instagram. Now remember, the point of this video is it's going to be B-roll of us doing something different, um, or something else that's going on. And then there's going to be a very simple text overlay that is going to be on it. Plus we are going to pair it with some audio. So I'm going to go over to the Instagram app. I'm going to open it up. And the first thing that I'm going to do is I'm gonna click the little plus icon and then I'm going to make sure that I have Reel selected. Now I've got a couple of options. I can click the little camera button and here I am. I can video it inside of the platform. Or if you have already created your content and you already know exactly what you wanna use, I'm gonna click the X button. I'm gonna click the plus. I'm gonna click on the little icon on the bottom to get back to my camera roll and I'm gonna select this this super awkward footage that I just took of myself and I click next. And then right here I have it inside of the platform. Now here's what I'm going to do. I am going to first of all trim it. So maybe I want this to start right here and then I am wanting to use that glass boom as kind of my little cut to sharing something impactful. All right, so I've got my short little clip that is super awkward because we all feel awkward when we make these things. Then I'm going to click the next button, and then from here is where I'm going to add whatever it is that I want to add. So I can click on the little music button and I can select what audio I want to use. Now I can already search for trending audio. This video that I made doesn't have to be in sync with specific beats, so I can choose like a trending audio. Again, I can't play the audio on here because I want to make sure that I can can keep this video up on top of, uh, YouTube. Then I'm gonna click the saved. Let's say I wanna use this guy that I just saved. I like it. I'm gonna click the over arrow and then I can use which part of the song that I think sounds best. And of course you'll be able to hear this when you're normally editing. I'm gonna click done. And then if I want to add the words on it, I'm gonna use a little A whatever, and I'm going to write the words. Um, so here, is a headline. Done. I'm gonna move this little guy up here, and you can play around with it. Of course, there's all sorts of different, uh, text and stickers and things you can play around with. And you can even click the edit video button, and then you will see underneath it that this is where my text is. So let's say I want right here— I'm gonna cut that text short. And then I want to have right here there to be a transformation. So I am going to go back over. I am going to click on the text so I can add some extra step transition. Done. I'm gonna tap on that little guy and bring him down where I want him to show up. I'm gonna click done, and I'm gonna make sure he shows up at my glass, after my glass hits on top of that right there. And then I'm gonna click the over arrow. You can actually edit the COVID if you want to, or you can just watch the preview. And just like that, we have created a little quick little B-roll with text overlay. All right, now we're gonna head over to Edits and I'm gonna show you how I would edit this exact same video inside of Edits, which I think think it's just a little bit more user-friendly. So I'm going to open up edits, and then we've got a couple of options. I can click that record button, and I can record my video right here if I want to. And then if I want, I can just utilize the video I had before. So I'm going to click the 4 little squares. I am going to click the plus button and do the same thing that I did before. We're going to add that guy, and it automatically opens up a project. And if you want to add audio, you can click the Add Audio button, or you can just click Audio on the bottom. I had the exact same selection, so I can do my saved. I'm gonna choose the same audio that I did before, click over, and then it is going to go ahead and put it on there for me. Then if I want to add my text, of course, I'm gonna click that over button. I'm gonna do the same thing. Of the text. And of course you can push all of the buttons and play around with it. I really like that edits makes it super easy. So headline done. I'm gonna move this guy up. I like that it kind of all stays right here contained. I'm gonna scoot that text over to where I want in the video. I want it to go to about here, so I'm gonna drag it over for the cup to be the transition. And then I am going to scooch back over, click another one, transition, done. I'm gonna move that transition text to where I want that to be. And just like that, I have my video. Now whenever it comes to edits, if I'm going to post it, I'm gonna click export. And what this is going to do is save it to my camera roll, and then it's going to ask me if I want to go ahead and post it to Instagram. Now I have my Instagram set up, so if I share to Instagram, it automatically shows up on Facebook. So this just makes it super easy for you to seamlessly get that content on the platforms. All right, the second way that we can utilize audio from Instagram is what I'm calling the in sync with Instagram audio. So this is where your actual movements need to be in In sync with what's actually happening inside of the video. So one example, there is a song that goes like boom, boom, boom, boom, and it's very popular for people to go boom, boom, and then they knock out like a pain point. Boom, boom, boom, boom, and then they reveal the actual thing that people are looking for. So it could be like, uh, you're frustrated with your Medicare plan because it's so much out-of-pocket cost. It's, uh, your doctors aren't in network. You don't have an agent you can ask questions to. You need someone that you can rely on. Like, how do you solve that? You call me. Okay? So you need to do the specific movements to it. Or you might see people whenever they are talking with the audio or lip syncing, uh, essentially with what it is. So I'm gonna show you how to do that. It's important for the audio to be playing while you record, uh, your video. There is a very advanced way for you to download the audio, put it in a third-party editor, film it, put it together, sync it, get it back in. We're not doing that. Nobody has time for that. Okay? We're just trying to get some content out there for some fun brand awareness, right? So let's start with inside of Instagram. So we're going to open up the app. I'm gonna head over to my page. Now let's say you are scrolling through Instagram. So number one is in the moment you wanna utilize it. Uh, so you're scrolling through Instagram and you're like, okay, I am interested in this video right here. Remember, at the very far bottom is where you can take the audio from any video. So I'm gonna click on it. And the cool thing is I can see how other people have used similar audio. And if I click on the use audio button, it's instantly going to open me up to the editor. And then I am able to move from there. I can click on, uh, the button and film. But first I wanna show you how you can get to your trending audio. So let me exit out of all of that. So if you are on Instagram, you're going to click on your profile icon. You're going to click on the 3 hamburger menu. You are going to click on Saved, and then you are going to see, uh, where you have your audio that is saved. So I'm gonna select, let's say this is the audio that I want to utilize. Um, and I can see how other people have used it. And then it's gonna be the same thing. I'm gonna click on Use Audio, and then I'm gonna click on this little button right here. And just like this, I'm able to film it. Now this is an important thing. Step, when you are using the audio, so you can see at the upper top that I've got that little guy right there that I'm using this audio, it is not going to record anything that I say. So if I wanna talk to the camera or it makes me feel better to like sing along with this song, I can absolutely do that cuz it's not going to pick it up. Now something that I do as an extra step is I add a timer to it so I know it's going to start. So at the very top you are going to see the little timer button. I'm gonna click on that guy and I'm gonna say I want 3 seconds seconds before it starts recording. Click Set Timer. And now when I click that record button, it is going to be playing the audio. I know you can't hear it on, on YouTube. It's annoying, but, uh, it's gonna play the audio and start recording. So here we go. I'm gonna click it. So I'm gonna pretend like, uh, 3, 2, 1, go. And it's the boom, boom, boom, boom. Yes, you feel dumb while you do this. That's okay. That's okay. All right, then I'm gonna stop recording. And let's say it's fabulous. I'm very happy with how I performed. It was great. Then I'm going to click the next button, and that is where I am able to listen to it, see how it is. And let's see, I'm like, this is fabulous. I could not do better. Then we can click on the little A icon, and we can start adding like the word that we want. Okay, word one done. We're going to add a word. 2. Done. We're going to move word 2 down here. We're going to add word 3. Done. We're going to move this little guy right here. Then we are going to click on the little scissor button, which is the edit button. And now that has opened up where I can see where my words are. Now again, I like the Edits app a little bit better for editing this, but I just want to show you, if I click on the word I can— well, I want word 1 to show up first, right? So I'm going to click on him, and then I can move word 1. I'm going to move him down here, click on the scissor icon, and I'm going to move word 2 over. And you can play around with it, and you can get your words exactly where you want them to be to show up and to be in sync with you making it disappear. So Technically, I would want this guy to show up a little bit later. So you're going boom, boom, and then you're knocking that word away. So you get the gist. Then we would get that to line up and we click the over button and you could be able to edit the COVID and you're done. Now let's talk about how to do this. We are going to click back. We're gonna say we're done with it. You could save the draft. I'm going to say start over so I can get out of this. And now we're gonna head over to the Edits app and we're gonna do the exact same thing. So we're gonna open up Edits. We are going to click on the little record button, and then it's from here that we are able to select the audio we wanna use. So I'm gonna click on music. And right here is where I'm going to see, first of all, for you, where it gives you suggestions. Maybe you want to use saved, which is probably most likely if it's something like this type of trending audio. So let's select, uh, let's do the same thing. We're going to select this guy, we're going to click over, and when I hit that record button, it is going to start playing the audio so I can hear it and do the movement. I am going to set the timer, so I'm going to click the little time gun. And I'm gonna give myself a 3-second countdown. I'm gonna click the record. 3, 2, 1. Same thing. I'm just using this one as an example. Yes, it does not feel any cooler the second time that I'm doing it, but I want you to have fun with this. All right, so we're gonna say we're done. Oh no, are we recording again? Oh, it is recording again. It's trying to get our second clip. You can see at the bottom it's gonna let me just keep on recording and recording, uh, so I can I can get multiple different clips if I want to. All right, perfect. Now I'm gonna click the over button. In fact, I'm gonna X out of these. Discard. We don't need you. Discard. And I'm gonna click the over button. And then we have a very similar interface to what I just showed you with Instagram, except for I like this interface just a little bit better. So we are gonna add our text. Okay, so this is going to be a word. I like this text better. You can play around with the words and the color and have a little bit of fun with it. But when it's your first several videos, don't, don't overthink it. Just get something out there. Okay, so we are going to click on this guy, make sure it's spelled word. Done. And then you're able to do the exact same thing and put the word exactly where you want it. So if I'm wanting to have Where I'm doing this. Let's scoot this word over. So the word's there, and then you knock it out of the way. You guys, I'm doing a fabulous job of this. Please don't judge me. Doon, doon. Then you knock the word out of the way, and then we move on to the other word. So that is how you would actually utilize it to record with the trending audio. Exact same thing after you were happy with this, and I like that. You can pull this button down, you can actually play it and see what it looks like, uh, nice and big. And then if you decide that you wanna use it for edits, you're gonna click the export button. It is going to pop up inside of your camera roll, but even more importantly, it's gonna give you the option to go ahead and post it on Instagram if that's what you would like to do. Whew. I know that was a lot, and I also understand how hard it can be to start putting yourself out there. There are so many different excuses and roadblocks that are going to show up that are going to give you all these reasons Mm-hmm. To just like, I'll just wait to start posting until another day. But it's just like if you decide that you want to start a fitness journey, you want to start going to the gym again. A couple of things you're not going to do. You're not going to pick up a marathon runner's workout plan. So you're not going to hold yourself to that type of standard because that's going to lead to burnout and it's also going to lead to muscle fatigue. Number 2, whenever you start a health fitness journey, you understand that it is going to be a little bit uncomfortable at first. Okay? You go to the gym, you're new here, you don't know what your way around. People are going to be looking at you, right? And then on top of that, you are doing something that is brand new. You haven't lifted in this way in a while, so it works that muscle differently. It's the same thing using social media. It's going to be a little bit uncomfortable as you are growing and becoming the person that you need to be in order to grow your business. So the first step is for you just to get started, and using this B-roll type of footage is going to be the absolute best way for you to start getting your face out there and start getting a little bit of brand recognition.
