Medicare Agents: “What should I post on social media?”→AEP Question 8

In this solo instructional video, Shauna Thoresen answers a Medicare agent’s question about what to post on social media and whether videos are necessary. She frames social media posting as a professional trust‑building exercise rather than a quest for virality, introducing the “3 C’s” (comprehension, compassion, character) as the core pillars for establishing credibility. Thoresen advises agents to focus on educational, empathetic, and entertaining content, with a strong emphasis on answering audience questions to showcase expertise. She recommends incorporating at least a few videos—or simple B‑roll footage—to let prospects see the agent’s personality and vibe, especially during the Annual Election Period (AEP) when lead generation is critical. While affirming that photos and images remain valuable, she stresses that video content, even without talking, can significantly boost perceived approachability and trust. The video concludes with a call to action for viewers to submit their own lead‑generation questions and follow her for further marketing guidance.

  1. What should I post on social media and do I have to post videos? This question comes from a Medicare agent. By the way, welcome to my series where I'm answering questions about lead generation, focusing specifically on AEP, but this is relevant to you regardless of what line of business that you work in. When we are posting as professionals on our page, okay, we're not posting to grow some sort of like crazy brand that's all about entertainment. Our goal is not to go viral. It's to become undeniable, undeniably an expert in your field. So what I'm teaching agents want to post is we want people to see you. Okay? It's C-C-C-E-E-E. The 3 C's are the 3 components of building trust, and that is comprehension. So people know that you're an expert when they land on your page. Compassion, they know that you truly care about them. And character, where they know you're the type of person that they would want to work with. And we do that by posting educational, empathetic, and entertaining content. Now, more emphasis on the educational, right? And the easiest thing that you can do, the lowest hanging fruit, is for you to answer questions. Kind of like what I'm doing in this series, where you just answer questions that you get from individuals. That way, when someone lands on your page, they know that you are an expert. Now, when it comes to do you have to post a video, I highly recommend that you have at least a few videos on your page. Even if you don't want to do talking like I'm doing right here, you You could easily do a B-roll footage where it shows you just typing at your desk and then it has something at the top and then the call to action and the copy. People want to see who they could potentially be working with. An analogy that I use is I was looking for a new hairstylist and I found these pages of these hairstylists in my area and all they did was post photos of hair. So I was like, okay, I can see like you do hair, right? But I was desperately seeking a video that just showed who they were and maybe showed them talking or answering a question because I just wanted to get a sense of like what the, what the vibe was, what, what they were going to be like. Do not let this hold you back though. Posting actual images and photos are absolutely wonderful. You should be doing that. But I would say, especially during AEP, if you are trying to grow your book during this season, you're trying to generate free leads, getting at least a video out there, even if you're not talking, could be extremely helpful. But the agents that I work with are so good at talking to their clients. I'm like, you can literally just talk to the camera. Like you're answering someone's question. So getting that content on there will help people land on your page, know that you're an expert, and get a feel for what it would be like to work with you. Now, if you have a question about lead generation, you know what to do, drop it below. And if you're interested in learning how to own your marketing and own your growth, my page is for you. And I hope that I will see you at my next video.
