Shauna Thoresen explains how Meta's algorithm works as a background robot that watches what users engage with, then serves them the most relevant content and ads. Higher relevance means better performance for your ads.

What is the algorithm? Or the Meta algorithm, the Facebook algorithm, the Instagram algorithm? What the heck is it? My name is Shauna. I teach insurance agents and entrepreneurs how to generate their own leads. In a nutshell, the algorithm is like a little robot helper who lives in the background of social media. His job is to understand you. He takes note of what your interests are, what you engage with, and what actions you're most likely to take on a platform, including organic posts and also ads that are served to you. He then creates a a series of rules that dictates what posts and also ads are going to be served to you that he believes will be most relevant. Now, as an advertiser, the more relevant your message is to the audience that you're trying to reach, the better that your ads are going to perform. If you are interested in learning more about the algorithm and how Facebook actually charges for ads, head on over to YouTube where I just uploaded an in-depth video on this.
