Do you care about your mental health?

In this solo, elevator‑pitch style YouTube monologue, Shawna Lynne (Delulu Today) shares a raw, personal narrative about mental‑health self‑care. She begins by describing a tense, exhausted state and advocates immediate somatic movement—yoga or dance—to release stored emotion. She then explores how resistance in others mirrors internal blocks, urging listeners to confront discomfort rather than avoid it. Shawna recounts the trauma of October 7th, linking it to her Jewish identity and the collective generational pain it revived, and emphasizes the responsibility to educate non‑Jewish peers about its significance. She offers concrete morning‑routine hacks, notably eliminating the snooze button and using quick knee‑rocking and breathing exercises to self‑regulate. Detailed breathing techniques are presented as tools for calming the nervous system. Finally, she outlines a holistic therapy philosophy that blends biohacking, psychedelics, spirituality, and intuitive practices, arguing that mental health is an everyday, self‑directed practice and encouraging people to seek diverse, non‑pharmaceutical pathways to wellbeing.

Let's go through the mindset of what you do when you want to sit on the couch and watch TV and not do anything. But my body is tense, I'm angry, I put on some pretty clothes to get ready for tomorrow's elevator speech, and I'm just feeling like tight and tense. I need to move. And I'm exhausted inside, like emotionally just drained. I want to like lie down and cry. And I know there's time for that. There's still another hour or 2. But right now, the best thing for my body, for my self-care, for me, is to dance, is to move it. So it's either doing yoga or dancing. It's one or the other. The somatic movement where we move the emotion out of our body by swinging and opening up spaces. It's important every day to let go of the energy that gets in your way. Don't take it to bed with you, it's not healthy. What do you do when someone in your life is resistant? That means that you know that if they did this one thing, so many things would change, and you know that they know that they need to do that change, and they know that they're trying but they can't, and It's really they're stuck and they just cannot let go of whatever it is that is holding them back from change. And you're like, just step over the line, you'll do it, you'll feel so good, it'll be so much better. And they're like, no, I can't. They retract, they close down, they're like, I can't. You're like, yes you can, come on. This is dance, right? And as soon as that resistance trusts the person who's inviting, as soon as that clicks, whoo, everything feels better. Try it. I'm on a roll. This is fun. I'm challenging myself once again. When I'm in an uncomfortable place, I just go more uncomfortable. This is the most uncomfortable I ever am. Today is an awful, horrible, horrible, awful, awful, horrible day. October 7th is an awful, horrible, horrible, awful day. It changed the lives of me and my peers and my community forever, forever. We had trauma in our bodies that we have been working on cycling generationally for a long time, and October 7th just knocked the cyclers back down. Took a lot of energy to come back up and want to be part of this world when people are hating so much for no reason. It's not fair. There's no fairness in this. There's— I'm Jewish. There's nothing I've done to deserve that amount of hate, and yet it comes at me every day. Not fair. Today's an awful, horrible day. And since I have 30 more seconds, I'm gonna say I'm gonna turn that around. Because it is an awful, horrible day. I'm also going to honor that awful, horrible day with positivity that I spread to people that were not Jewish. Today I spent time with people who were not Jewish, lots of different cultures, explaining to them why today is so important in my life and how important it is for you to recognize that. I needed to share that today, and I think that not— people not knowing is not them not wanting to know. Oh, this one's going in 2 minutes. It's that they're not paying attention, they're busy with other things. I see that if they knew what today was to me, they wouldn't have done what they did. So it's my responsibility to make sure that people around me understand the Feeling of today. I now have 90 seconds, so let's see what happens with that extra 30. I was challenged to do 1 minute. 90 seconds is the elevator pitch tomorrow, and I just want to tell you that I care about self-care. I care that people are not able to start making changes that are really simple. I know it's hard. I do. I get it. Every day I work so diligently in my head to make those choices while you lay in bed. I want to be there too, but it's not healthy. It's healthier to get up and get going and take 15 minutes in the morning instead of snooze and do something to self-regulate before you start your day. Snooze dysregulates you. Something else regulates you. Figure it out, please. No more snooze. First thing to get rid of, please. Oh, I have 90 seconds. That's 30 more. Here we go. If you are not pressing snooze, when the alarm goes off, pull your knees to your chest, bring them in like this, and just rock back and forth. If you can start holding your feet and rocking back and forth. If you would like to windshield wiper your knees, open up your hips, open up your body, do something. Just move a little bit down there below your waist. Give it some space. When I have had so many good days after another and a bad one comes, it's Even worse. It's like debilitating for a moment. You're like, no, not again! I thought I did everything to avoid this. You can never avoid a bad day. It's gonna hit you in the head. Sometimes it comes at you from so many different ways at the same time, you don't even know where to turn. That's the hardest, right? It's like, I turn here and that person gives me something, and then I turn here and that person kind of gives me the same. I'm like, is it me? No, they're just not ready for what I'm saying, or I haven't explained it well enough, or I'm asking them to believe something without giving them the context. Either way, there's a miscommunication. If there's resistance on 2 sides and you're in the middle going, what the— stop and breathe. Go back to the video and breathe, and then try again. Think about what you didn't say or what you need Or what language the other person needs to understand. Breathing begins with one breath in through your nose, out through your mouth. Just a nice good rhythm. As you begin to build the pattern, it's hard to think about as many thoughts. So really do the breathing. Try and think of your stomach going out when you breathe in and in when you breathe out. It's the opposite of what we do naturally. I know, crazy. If you want to go crazy one more time, breathe in twice in your nose, out through your mouth. It like does something to your head if you really breathe into it and sit in it. It's good for regulating. Oh, I already feel better. You're going to see a string of these going through, stopping at 1 minute each time, trying to get my message across as quickly as possible with as least words Trying for— get all of the downloads in my head out so that you would want to try mental health, that you would understand that there are days where you are in a bad mood, angry and sad. Right now I'm feeling it. It's like despair. It is despise. It is anger and hatred. I don't feel so good. I'm not regulated. I know this. I felt it rising. It was in my conversations, or lack of those, today. The energy that came out at me was not what I expected or wanted, and it was dysregulating. I need to breathe. Let's do that now. Hey, my name is Shawna Lynne, and I'm I believe that there's more to therapy than just talking. I think that we need to utilize all the parts of self-care, biohacking, and psychedelics. I believe that spirituality and intuitiveness are part of our mental health care. I believe that all of these pieces before us have options to help us. I believe that we can try lots of things to make us feel better instead of medicine. I believe that there are ways that we can self-regulate and feel positivity if we decide we want to be in charge of our heads. If we take over our mind and tell it what to think, it's amazing. It might actually do it. I believe that mental health is everything we do every day. What do you need to do to feel better every day? Do you need help in your movement, your nutrition, your sleeping, your waking up, your parenting, your feelings about your family, your feelings about yourself, your feelings about your job? There's something going on in your head. Why not share it with a stranger, someone who's not attached to your life and won't bring it up ever again? You can bring your stories, your feelings, your emotions, everything you want to the table. You can dump it on the plate right in front of that therapist and say, have a nice day, what do you want to do with this? And that therapist will go, let's go, I like that story, let's go through it. How about that one? Let's unravel it. What do you want to feel with that? Where can we put that? Therapy is just telling your stories and finding a better ending.
