Darren finishes his first 10-mile race after losing enough weight to run it. He woke at 4:15 am, crossed the finish line emotional and tearful, and is already eyeing the Brighton Half Marathon in February. The race featured 38 charities in the Charity Village.
Here we are, it's race day, 10 months down the line, and I'm ready and raring to go. Up and awake at quarter past 4 this morning. I'm very excited and just can't wait to get started. And get running and complete the course.
This year, 38 different charities are in the Charity Village to welcome you home and to say thank you to you for the efforts that you I thought you created something more difficult. Well, you have one of those, wouldn't you? I would. A voucher to entice you not to cook dinner for the next week. Brilliant. My life is one big voucher of that kind, Anthony. My cooking is a bit to be desired. Well done, Trevor, completing the course. Darren also Are you happy? Are you crying? Yes. Stop crying.
So what's next, Darren? Which race you doing next?
The Brighton Half Marathon in February, provided I can avoid Lorraine and she talks me into the Gosport Half Marathon in a couple of weeks' time.
How good do you feel about yourself now?
Truly amazing. I cannot believe— I'm going to cry again— I cannot believe how well I've done. And I couldn't have done it without you guys. Really couldn't have. It don't matter what you say, without you guys I wouldn't be standing Congratulations, I really would.
