Slimpod + Injections: How James Lost 5.5 Stone by Rewiring His Food Noise & Mindset

James lost 5.5 stone combining SlimPod's mindset coaching with Mounjaro injections. He credits the program for quieting food cravings and building habits, then added injections when snacking returned, experiencing dramatic appetite suppression. He stresses medical guidance, proper dosing, and lifestyle changes matter more than the injection alone.

I've got James with me, uh, today who has been doing SlimPod and Mounjaro. That's the right one, isn't it, James?
Yeah, that's the right one.
Yes. Okay, um, because SlimPod is your flexible friend and you can do it with anything, uh, including the weight loss injections. Um, and so some people might ask Why is it that you do both? Well, there's multiple, there's multiple benefits to, well, for doing the SlimPod on its own because that's been cutting out food noise, etc., in most people for 15 years and reducing appetite. But sometimes food noise, for various reasons, can rear its ugly head a little bit with various habits and emotional connections. And I think, James, that's been one of the benefits for you, isn't it? If you can explain where, you know, where you come from with all this and what, what your journey's been like.
Yeah, um, so I started SlimPod over a year ago, um, it worked really well at first. I was really impressed with the results, um, And that part of me has kind of changed my life and thrust me towards better things as I went to the gym more, which if I told myself that 3 years ago, probably wouldn't have believed it. So I'm starting to walk more, starting to do more exercise and starting to eat more. It's not eat more, eat better. So my portion sizes used to be really bad, but Simpod helped me to reduce that and I thought that was good. And then around February, March this year, I started to snack more and getting that food noise back. So when I started SlimPod, that snacking almost stopped. It wasn't completely stopped. But even when I was snacking, I wasn't snacking on chocolate. I was snacking on healthy things like fruit and things, which I was okay with. So that food noise came back and I started to eat again. And then I was talking to one of my friends who's lost weight on Manjaro, and I said, what are the benefits of it? And I did quite a lot of research into it, to be honest. Because there's lots of side effects and there's so much misinformation out there. That's a bit that worried me was what can you rely on, what can't you rely on. So I took the plunge. I went to see my doctor to get some professional advice. And my doctor told me Majara is great. It can help many people. However, if I do it on my own, it won't work. She said, yes, you'll lose all the weight you want to, but when you come off it, you'll just put it all back on because that food noise will come back stronger than ever. And I told her about SlimPod, and she said that it was wonderful doing the two together, which is probably where we are today. So I've lost another 4 stone on Monjaro. It's going really well. And doing that with SlimPod, I think, has really changed my life for the better, to be perfectly honest. I recently went on holiday Generally, I don't like laying by a pool because really conscious of the way I looked. But for this time, the first time, I was really confident laying there and enjoying myself, which was a real change for me doing that, if I'm being perfectly honest.
Amazing, amazing. So if you, you've got, um, you said you know somebody who's doing the Monjaro as well. What's the difference then, would you say, between, uh, when you're got the SlimPod thing going on and you've got, with the Mounjaro, rather than just doing Mounjaro on its own?
I think it's that education piece, and that's what's been key for me, is that education and the coaching videos, and also the Trevor stuff's really good, but it's that education for me that's really helped me more than anything else. I think if you did Mounjaro on your own, Some people will keep it off, and obviously we've seen lots of things in the press lately that people are just putting it back on. So for me, it's that education piece, and, and I think if you do the two together, then you're not going to guarantee results, but I think you've got a better chance of getting the results you want.
And so, um, so obviously the whole, um, the food noise thing and the appetite suppressant. So as far as the— your appetite being is concerned. You— I mean, that obviously is part of what the SlimPod does as well, but more naturally. How would you say the difference between the two of those is? Is it— I mean, is it reduced considerably more now, or how is that working?
Yeah, so the food suppression— and food suppression is a difficult one because Obviously you have different doses of Mounjaro, and the doctors say that some people don't get affected at all on the lower doses, but you have to get your body used to it before you go up the dose. And the suppression for me and the appetite has just been— I've never known anything like it. Some days I've been literally nearly forcing myself to eat to make sure I am eating. To make sure I've got protein in and the fruit and the fiber and making sure I'm drinking quite a bit anyway of water. So I think that's it. Depression's nothing that I've ever seen before ever because it just makes you not hungry at all. And sometimes at work, I just put my head down and start to work and it's like 3 o'clock and I've not had lunch and I think to myself, I'm not hungry but I need to eat something. And I think that's Sometimes people lose so much so fast on Manjaro because of that, and they just don't eat. But I think it's important that you're still eating right even though you're on it.
That's exactly it. I've heard lots of people talk like that and explain it in that way. And in fact, a lady with diabetes, she said that she had to make herself eat because of the diabetes. The hypos, etc. And so, yeah, it's fascinating. So a big— I know this for a fact because research has been done on it. A big thing about being on the injections is that people just get really scared to come off because they hear that, you know, that the that if you don't do it with mindset changes or lifestyle changes, then it will come back on. And obviously the food noise will all come back again and all the rest of it. How do you feel about that part of it? How do you feel?
I think using it with SlimPod, I'm quite confident that it will stay off. I think if I hadn't spoke to my doctor, my doctor's like, you need to do it with a lifestyle change, which I'm doing anyway. Some of the, some of the things you see in the press and online is quite scary around, um, you're doing these injections and you put it straight back on. Um, but I think that's a little bit of misinformation because it doesn't say, well, if you did it with a lifestyle change, you'll keep it off. So I think that's the bit that's one of the bits that scares me, is that people out there are just getting worried to never come off it. And maybe that's part of the, um, pharmacy industry, because obviously some of these injections are not cheap, um, on a monthly basis. So maybe that's part of that. But I think if you do it with a lifestyle change, and I've now got the confidence to ensure that when I do come off it, then I'll be able to keep it off.
Right, great. That's, um, that— yeah, I think that's the— that is, it's the confidence thing, isn't it, that so many people don't have. And I think then the whole injection thing's become a bit addictive, maybe, because because you're running away from fear.
Yeah, totally. And I've seen some people that have been on it nearly 2 years, and I think you must have— you must be at the right level now. And I've seen them at the right level, but they're continuing going because they want to stay in maintenance. But what, what you should be doing— and I spoke to my pharmacist about this— is when you get to where you want to, you should start reducing your doses. You shouldn't just stop totally. You should reduce back down to 2.5, and then you'll stay in maintenance. So I think if you do it right, I think you can keep it off. I think people just stop or think, just don't do it right. Just get—
yeah, because it's, it's an expensive thing as well, isn't it? I mean, the professors are saying that you've got to stay on them for life because the weight will come on back on again. Um, and I've done a huge amount of research on this, uh, and, and every day, um, it's coming up somewhere along the line. Um, so yes, it's it is more or less a lifetime commitment. And I guess I query whether that is anything any different from dieting. But you, you probably, you were probably a yo-yo dieter.
Yeah, totally.
Um, so how, how does it differ?
Um, I've done Slimming World and Weight Watchers, um, and both of them worked and didn't work at the same time, if that makes sense. Yes, yes, you lose weight but then you put it back on.
Um, and, and that, that is it. Just sorry to interrupt you, but that is the bit that I asked the professor, one professor at one stage, who was extolling the virtues of Ozempic, and I said, but what is the difference between that and dieting when you're going to put the weight back on again? Um, that's You know, that is, that is the whole yo-yo dieting effect unless you stay on it. But that's like a diet. But I suppose there's no willpower. It takes away the willpower, does it?
Yeah, totally. So that's, I think that's the difference, is it helps you with that willpower, whereas when you want to diet, you have to have your own willpower and stick to what you should do. Um, so yeah, yo-yo dieted for years, and then somebody said something to me once And I thought to myself, you know what, you're right. So, um, they were telling me that obviously people go to Weight Watchers clubs and Slimming World, and they're not professionals, they're just people that have done it. Um, and they were like, well, why would you go to someone that's not professional? They could be telling you anything, um, and you're believing them. Yes, it works, and they've made a lot of money from it. Um, but he said, you need something that's going to change your life. And I thought And that's where I thought, you know what, you're right. So, um, someone recommended SlimPod, um, and I loved it from the start because it was that re-education. I know that lots of people do what I do, yo-yo diet. You've been like this for years, your brain just gets used to it. So I understand all that, and that education piece was key for me in this. And I think that's the problem with diets is there's no education in it at all. A lot of them are just follow plans, and you follow the plans and you lose weight, you come off the plan and you put it all back on. Whereas this is completely different. There's education in it, and I think education is key to this. And I know we have an obesity crisis in the UK, and I think more education for everyone would help massively because that's what's changed my life, is the education piece.
Yeah, great. Fabulous. Uh, yeah, I mean, I, I, um, I, I, I, as I said, I've got, you know, I'm very open-minded about the whole thing and, and I'm very much about personal choice. Uh, so if people want to do two things together or one or whatever, um, then that's up to them. What would you— what kind of advice, uh, what, what would be one or two points of advice that you would give to, uh, Slim Podders who are thinking maybe that they want to start the jabs as well? Because you've been there, done it.
Yeah, I think, I think first of all, go and talk to your doctor if that's what you want to do. There are trials all over the UK at the minute around having the jab on the NHS. There's also a NICE report came out recently around how the NHS should be using Monjaro more. I spoke to my doctor about it. Where I live, there's funding issues at the minute around it because obviously it's not cheap, but they are looking to do it in the future. So I think first thing, go and speak to a professional and talk to your doctor. They can advise you what the best route for you is. Where I live in Leicestershire, they do a great weight loss thing as well, so they put me in contact with professionals as well, dietitians, just in case you're worried about whether you're eating the right amount of food and the right choice of food. Um, so go and talk to your doctor and then do some research, um, yourself. Um, probably talk to some of the pharmacists. Don't, don't look online is probably my advice, because you'll see so many conflicting messages. Um, so try and get professional help. And if you do decide to go down that route, make sure you go with a registered chemist. There are so many And I've seen them on TikTok quite a lot around chemists that are not registered offering really cheap jabs. And if they're not registered, you don't know what you're getting. And that's a bit that would worry me, is make sure you are following— and, and all the registered ones, there's— if you go into the gov website, it gives you a list of every single pharmacy, so you can check them quite easily to see if they are registered. Um, so that would be my bits of advice. And then if you do go on it, follow what the chemist's telling follow what they're saying. If they're telling you— because you can get side effects, but I've not had any. Well, I've had minimal side effects because I've followed the guidance, which is, um, I needed to up my protein and drink at least 2 liters of water a day. Um, I wasn't drinking 2 liters of water a day, uh, probably about 1.5, but I've gone up to 2.5 now, and that's helped me massively. Yeah. And some of the side effects that nobody talks about One's confidence. Obviously, when you start losing weight, your confidence goes up. One side effect, which is really strange, is around alcohol. I don't drink as much as I used to. I never used to drink that much anyway, but on a night out, I don't really drink much at all because I don't want to. So that's been a really strange side effect for me.
Yeah, fascinating. And what was happening with the alcohol and the confidence, were they kind of happening before you went on Manjaro while you were on SlimPod?
The alcohol, no, but the confidence started. When you start losing weight, you become more confident and people start noticing it as well, so I think that boosts your confidence as well when people start to notice it. The alcohol, no, the alcohol was okay. It just, when I went on to Manjaro, I just, I just didn't want it as much. It was just Felt really weird.
Interesting, fascinating. It's, it's just amazing. Uh, we've got another lady who has now lost 7 stone with both SlimPod and, um, Manjara. I think that's the same as you have now, isn't it? Or is it 4 stone in total?
Yeah, mine's 5 and a half altogether.
5 and a half altogether, my word, amazing. Um, and so she has as well, but she's got a different story to the one you're telling, which is, is fascinating, um, because she was a real emotional eater, uh, and, um, obviously SlimPod has helped with all of that side of things, uh, and, and the Manjaro is now just helping with, um, the appetite, uh, and that's the main thing that, that's happening because all her food noise had disappeared. Um, so yeah, it's, uh Fascinating.
Yeah, totally. I think both of them have started to change my life for the better. I think that's really good.
Great. Look, I thank you so much for being on here and talking to me, and I would love to have you back on when you stop taking the jabs and see what happens, see how it all Yeah, see how it all transpires.
Yeah, look forward to it.
Amazing. Thank you so much, James. Of course.
Thanks.
Thank you.
