Becoming Spartan: Sol Brah in Ancient Greece

Sol Brah travels to Greece with a health-first philosophy, ditching his raw milk at TSA and packing EMF-shielding wool underwear and silver-thread hoodie. He documents his daily routine of outdoor training, raw beef and raw milk nutrition, and a trip to Sparta with friends, visiting Leonidas' rosemary bush and throwing rocks on the beach.

You know I always take the stairs. So they wouldn't let me bring my raw milk through, so I had to skull— I think it's about a liter— before I went through TSA. Got me espresso though. So we're on the way. Uh, we've got a 6-hour flight over to New York, and then New York to Athinia— Athens. I don't know if Athinia is actually how they say Athens, but I've got my EMF protecting Soul Mystic hoodie, of course, Soul shorts, of course. I've got some wool underwear on. Super, super cozy for the flights the whole way, uh, sweat-wicking and cool and all that. Also, I've said this before about wool, but wool will create a good electrical charge field from the friction of the wool fibers, kind of counteracts all the EMF that you're having when you're flying. So if you wear full wool, that's even better. But for now, I've got wool underwear, cotton shorts, these amazing socks which are wool and possum fur, super soft. And yeah, as I said, my linen and silver fiber thread hoodie to protect against EMF. So let's head over to the gate. So guys, look, check power points. You got these things gassing you softly in every fucking room. So take them out. You don't want to be ingesting the soy spray that these things put out. We're not going to be rude, so we're not going to throw them out, but we will put them down here. You don't have one? Nice. What about the bathroom? Lucky Zog didn't, didn't pre-poison your sleeping quarters. Bastards. Ew, it's gross. Someone in here? No. Great view, incredible, beautiful bit of sun coming out. Acropolis over there. We are hitting up the gym, of course. Getting a workout in as soon as you land in a new city is always a great idea. Gonna get everything moving, gonna minimize that jet lag effect. I'm feeling pretty good. It's about 7:30— no, 7. Uh, gonna get some food, some fruit, and then lift. Fresh coconut. Oh, delightful. Okay, we're hitting a workout, so I got a lot of grapes to eat. Quick carbohydrates, pretty good. And then a coconut. Let's go! So just had like a pretty strange experience. Not strange, but I know why it's happened. So I was looking for a gym to work out, it's in the evening, picked the best looking gym in there, and I think— so this was kind of like Equinox in America if you've been there, and it's not really Okay, so it's the evening and we're trying to avoid the blue light things. The whole place is completely lit up with blue light, uh, so obviously put my glasses on. But just the vibe itself, everyone, everyone, literally everyone was wearing polyester. And I'm not shitting on people who are just trying to work out, going there after their jobs and things. I understand entirely, but it's more so that the gym culture itself is telling people that that is what is healthy to do, to go and blast yourself with blue light, get that workout in, put on your tight polyester, and then do all the machines and things. Like, I've just— I've lived in that culture, and I've also lived in, you know, lunchtime workouts in the sun with your shirt off outside barefoot. The second one is so much, so much more healthy. And, uh, yeah, it was just like almost you know, hit my workout, it was a good workout, but I could— I would not go back there, and I can't really live in that gym culture anymore. So it's just interesting to note how I've evolved. I'm sure a lot of you have felt the same thing. One day I'm going to be creating a gym of my own with everything fully locked into proper natural health. Good morning! We've had a delicious 6-hour sleep, solid, feeling great. I'm meeting the boys for breakfast. We've pre-ordered through them 4 poached eggs fresh bread, fruit, honey, jam, and a triple espresso and an orange juice. That's, uh, that's probably my perfect breakfast order. So we'll go see if the— what the boys are up to. I think they were running at 5 AM, so good on them. I was, uh, I was up a little later, so go see what's on the agenda for today. Do some exploring. Big boy breakfast. Yeah. Okay guys, having a little lunch here. I've got ground beef, uh, an olive oil cheese that's on the right, and on the left is a sheep and goat's milk butter, which I'm super excited about. It's so yummy. This is a nice little easily digested meal that I'll have for lunch. Cheers! Get guapped up, we got to hit Teflon Farms. What time is it? Hello! 7:35. Might be close. They were already closing up the orange juice machine, so they couldn't fill me up in this one, but I got a few bottles. I got 2 bottles of orange juice, 1 of pomegranate, and then a couple fruit packs, fruit cups, fruit salad cups as well. So got my carbohydrates, got my hydration. That's what counts. Tomorrow is very exciting with Charlie and Dryden. We are headed to Sparta. Yes. That's right, the Sparta itself. It's a couple hours drive from where we are in Athens. We're going there to explore, to absorb the warrior energy. If you haven't read about the Spartans, the ancient Spartans, please go do so. It is some of the most inspiring, incredible, masculine solar ideals that we all know and love. Oopsies. And yeah, you can just take so much from their mythology and their way of life. And very excited to go see the sites there and see where the Spartans lived. So this is the delicious traditional Greek coffee made in sand, put in hot sand to heat it up, and it overflows here. So I'm gonna try that out, of course. Orange juice. So we're up early, uh, we're headed to Sparta as I said last night, and it's 6:30 AM. We get back to the land soon, but of course Lil picked me up, be up earlier this night so we can get into the drive. And I'm gonna listen to a podcast about Sparta, I think, so it should be fun learning about it as we're driving through the area. Cheers, cheers, lads, to Sparta! So we got tomatoes, feta, local pork from Mani, and scrambled eggs as well on a little bit of toast here. Good stuff. Olive oil. Sir, you got hops, right? Oh no, yo! That counts, that counts. That's how you used to have to earn your fruit. Now the fruits of our labor, literally, literally fruits of our labor. That's very, very sour. All right. Super sour. I think I'm like a foot away. You want some? There he is, the king. So really interesting, they have these rosemary, really healthy bushes right next to Leonidas here. So you can leave an offering of your hair. Leave some of my hair here and then absorbing the Leonidas rosemary. And on the front we have Medusa. Goodbye, Argos. Farewell. Pretty nice. Charlie wants to show off his rock. Beast! Like a bigger, bigger rock. Yeah, but I was just looking for a recognizable one that's not too close to these people. But this is good, this is accuracy, you know. Nope, nope. Ah, hope you enjoyed watching the rock throwing contest. Always a great game. That's a classic game. Now, having Swam. We're going to get something to eat in this beautiful, beautiful Greek beachside town. Cats don't like onions. Of course not. Fresh grilled sardines. Wow, so pretty. Another cat requires feeding. Hey guys, showing you my meal. Sol Brah special. Made one for Charlie as well. He's excited. Oh yeah, raw ground beef, raw egg yolks, bit of tomato, and we've got the sheep's milk and goat's milk butter as well as a cheese on top. Check out the view. Not bad. Doing to work this morning. What do we have here? This one's pretty self-explanatory, OJ. This one is a very famous Greek drink. So this is a freddo espresso, which means cold espresso, and they do it in such a way that they shake it up with ice to create this beautiful creamy layer. There's no dairy in here, it's just espresso and ice, but the way that they shake it up creates this beautiful crema on top, and it's very, very, uh, very popular here. You can see all the mosquito bites that I have. I got pissed up last night doing a bit of reading. There's a great author, you may have heard of the book The Four Agreements, so I picked this one up. Haven't really dove into it yet, but pretty, pretty excited for it. So guys, I'm eating some watermelon, and it's very important that you eat as close to the rind as possible because the highest levels of the blood flow boosting parts of watermelon is in this green bit. So obviously you don't want to eat the rind itself, but really get down to the edge here. I'll show you. There you go. Now, important, don't waste that part of the watermelon. Thank you. Welcome. Check out this olive oil, snazzy! And check out this one, gold flakes in olive oil. Wow, this olive oil because I am the absolute governor. I might have to get it just for the gag. Hmm, just need a smaller one for traveling. So, ding dong, ding dong, ding dong. Blend and mastia. It's got mastic. In it. I don't think I want that actually. Just normal olive oil, 100%. Looks good. All right. Alright, managed to find some honey. With bee pollen and royal jelly as well. Give this a try. This is the same brand actually that I had before that they took off, uh, took off me at the airport. It's really good. Royal jelly, bee pollen, obviously incredible, incredible stuff. Coconut water. So happy I got that one. So as I said, I haven't eaten much today and we're going to lift, so focusing on quick-digesting carbs. I'm going to put some extra honey into the coconut water bottle. That was very smooth, didn't spill any. Risky business. Yummy. So smack the lid on that, give her a shake. We've eaten our blueberries, we've eaten our grapes, we've had the dark chocolate. That's a nice little mix. By the time you get to the gym, about 20, 25 minutes would have passed, and that's more than enough for quick-digesting carbohydrates to digest, uh, if you have an empty stomach and things. Especially a lot of these, like the honey, as long as you leave it in your mouth for a while, you let the saliva mix, that's already sending sugar to the brain. And, uh, the bloodstream, of course, because it's being absorbed through the mouth, through your skin, or the inner of the mouth. All right, nice arm session done. That gym was a lot nicer than the other one, less crowded. I also went earlier, so that's definitely the time to go. What did we hit? We did dips, pull-ups to warm up, then weighted dips, weighted pull-ups. After that, we did some forearms with the barbell, uh, what do you call that one barbell wrist curl with our elbows and forearms on the bench for extra stability. Really get that hand stretch at the bottom, as, as you saw me do. Then we hit the other direction with the, uh, the wrist curls, kind of behind the back wrist curls. I just kind of like to go on the, on the flow with the wrist curls when I get into them. Just maximize that, that forearm pump you know, you know what I'm saying. And triceps, uh, tricep pushdown, bicep rope curl with the same rope, one after each other. Uh, pretty standard arm stuff after that. Lateral raises thrown in there, a few sets. And seated incline dumbbell curls, really love those ones for a good stretch. Yeah, it was a cool dog in there. I think it was a Great Dane. Big dog that you saw walking past me. And, and that was about it. Just kind of going to— going to exhaustion, not completely destroying myself, but mainly going for the burn. A couple of heavy stuff in there, a couple sets of heavy stuff. And that was the arms workout. So we gotta go, we got our groceries now, we can go eat at home and likely have an early one because I haven't had that much sleep. I've been working a little a little later, uh, the last few nights. So I mentioned that the, the Delos trip was canceled. Well, I'll be going tomorrow now, so be up early, do some work before we get on the ferry to the island. Post-workout, I've just found a sauna. They have this huge area, sauna, steam room, and this jacuzzi bit, which is with seawater and a lot of jets. Really cool. Hopefully I can show you guys down there. Going to relax there for a while. Let's go! It's actually really nice. This is pure seawater, super salty. He's actually very strong. He's pulling me away. Ah.
