How to Gain Weight (The Healthy Way)

Sol Brah outlines a primal approach to healthy weight gain centered on raw animal foods, raw dairy, and specific lifestyle practices. He argues that a 3 AM raw cream shake, full semen retention, and short high-intensity workouts maximize growth hormone and testosterone while building nutrient-dense mass, not the processed-food bloat of modern bulks.

This is how to acquire mass the primal way. Here is what I would do if I wanted to gain weight, why we might want to gain weight, and what different types of weight there are to gain. But here's the difference. I'm not going to tell you just to eat pizzas and things like that just for the sake of gaining weight. No, we want to do it in a healthy way. And here's how we want healthy weight, healthy weight that is enjoyable to put on. and is going to increase your vitality. That is the Sol way. The key here is we want to put on healthy fats and muscle mass, not just seed oil slop and toxic fat. A mistake many people have made, myself included, is to go on some kind of dirty bulk just for the sake of increasing weight. They end up eating junk foods and end up with their vitality and health decreased because of it. Yes, you've gotten bigger, but at what cost? Firstly, why would we want to put on weight? In general, having a bit more mass on the body is overall healthier than having these single-digit fat— body fat percentages, especially as a woman. Positive hormones like testosterone are higher when you have a bit more body fat as a guy, within reason, right? If you get too fat, then that testosterone drops off again. It of course makes it easier to put on muscle when you have an abundance of energy and a higher ability ability to recover after your athletic performance. Your physical body, the organism itself, can absorb more stress in general and more stresses the more energy you have available. This is why if you have natural sugars after training, you bring your recovery up and you can get back to that baseline of feeling kind of normal after you've depleted yourself. If you have more mass, you are more kinetically dangerous when doing things like fighting orcs This is, of course, if you're also continuing to train for speed and strength and not just becoming a big blob mass. Additionally, you might want to put on weight if you want to undergo a Focus Detox period where you unlock all those toxins over the years that are stuck in your lymphatic system. It is recommended to get a sort of buffer of having a bit of extra fat on you as those toxins are dislodged in the body. If someone's too skinny and they do something like that, it can be quite stressful. In general, you are more robust with more weight on your body if it's healthy. If I was going on a long hiking trip to a cold country, I would intentionally put on weight beforehand so that my endurance and everything and resistance to the cold is higher. If I was a woman who was about to go into pregnancy, I would also recommend that you put on a bit, of extra weight, good weight, for pregnancy. You're going to be healthier, you're going to be able to give the baby more nutrients and absorb more stresses in general. What kind of weights are there to gain? Let me show you this. I would like you to imagine the bodily composition of a rich medieval lord back in the day. He's feasting on fine meats, cream, cheeses, wine, delicacies, because he's a rich lord. He has all these people working for him. An image comes to mind of a jolly fellow. He's got a bit of a stomach, but he's, he's thick, he's stout, you know, he's strong still. He still has fists that could crunch down on the peasants that, that rebelled against him, things like that. But because of the time period that he's in, he's at a stage where they only had whole foods. They only had natural whole foods. You're likely eating local because there was no massive international shipping chains. So just by nature of living in that time, and you're also rich and royalty, you have access to a lot of good quality foods. They're natural, they're not processed. So you end up with this physique of this guy who is a little bit heavy, yes, but he is strong and he has a lot of nutrients. So he's overeating, but there was no seed oils back then. He's also spending a lot of his time outside. In the sun. They didn't have blue lights or TVs back then. He's relaxing by the fire. He's wearing fine linens and wool, and he's probably going to bed at a reasonable time every day. This is the end hormonal environment where you get a strong physique. Yes, he's overweight, but it's strength, and it's kind of this strong, healthy fat that is hormonally in a— there's a good hormonal distribution of that fat across his body. In short, his life would actually be very healthy compared to modern standards, uh, just by nature of how it was back then. Now consider the modern seed oil goblin kings that we see roaming around the cities today. Their guts hang over their belts and droop down. They've got this thin, pasty skin that looks like you could just poke through it, various bits of fat hanging off other extremities. They have pustules developing They look like they would just fall over if you were to push them a little bit. Their neck disappears, they're breathing heavy. It's an entirely different thing. It's an entirely different fat person. This is only possible with the processed, GMO, seed oil fried, fake garbage that people are eating today. Most obese people, this kind of distribution of the Goblin King fat That is an entirely different thing to a guy, medieval lord, who is overeating natural whole foods, and it's obviously much, much more unhealthy. They're also living usually under blue lights. They're not going outside very much, and they have on top of that pharmaceutical medications that they're taking for their blood pressure, adding on to this toxic system where their hormones are wrecked. And yeah, they've got some extra weight, but the— we don't want that kind of weight. So you have to understand that there is a different types of weight to gain, and we obviously want the healthier version. Of course, overeating is still a potential issue in the example of the medieval lord, but you see the example I'm trying to show here. There is a difference. That all being said, this is what I would do if I wanted to gain weight in a healthy way. Obviously, you will need to increase your food intake comparatively to what you were having before in order to increase your weight. There is some variation based on your hormones, based on your recovery, how stressed you are, your digestion. But if all those other things are equal, if you eat more food, then you're going to put on weight. It's not as simple as calories in, calories out because of those other factors that I mentioned. But everything else the same, you're going to need to eat more than you were previously. Some of your weight gain will be just because the hormonal environment in your body is more anabolic because of things like eating more raw fats that have cholesterol in it. Your body is able to produce more testosterone. Yeah, boom, you're going to get bigger. That is unrelated as such to the calorie amount example. But it is a factor. Any food here in general that I mention should be eaten at room temperature. Remember, it's not just about putting the food inside your body, it's about digesting that food, and it's about assimilating those nutrients into the body to be used. Something like if you're not chewing enough, then you're getting these big chunks of food which aren't digested as well by the system. You're not going to be absorbing as much It's the same food going inside you, but you need to chew a little bit more. Luckily, a lot of these foods in here are so nutrient-dense and, you know, in a type that is so easily digested. That's part of the reason why I put them in this video. So here is how to eat to gain weight. These are in no particular order. Blended shakes of half raw cream and half raw milk. These are delicious, first of all. Drink a large cup upon waking, before bed, in between meals. You can add raw egg yolks and raw honey— unheated raw honey. That is just the most delicious anabolic milkshake you can possibly have. I would recommend anyone eat this in general, even if you're not trying to put on weight. But if you add those to what you're currently eating, you're going to have a great time eating them because they're so delicious, and you're going to grow Amazingly, Vince Gironda talked about this back in the day. The cream is just the most anabolic because it has such a high fat content enabling you to create this testosterone, and it's so rich in calories, so boom, you're going to get thicker. Half raw cream, half raw milk, add raw egg yolks and honey. The honey is going to help digest it, so if you don't do the egg yolks, still do the honey. The egg yolks just give it that extra cholesterol power as well. So amazing mass gainer kind of blended shake there. A pea-sized amount of royal jelly before a raw meat meal. So if you don't know what royal jelly is, it is the substance that bees create in order to turn a worker bee into a queen bee. Queen bee is much larger than the worker bees. When they start to eat this royal jelly, they really just level up in everything. It's obviously reserved for the queen. It is quite expensive. But it's around. You want a royal jelly that hasn't been frozen before. A lot of brands will sell mass-produced frozen raw jelly. That's not the best. Royal jelly contains stem cells and also contains precursor for human growth hormone. Obviously, that's something that's going to make us grow. Raw bone marrow also has similar effects. And if you have it before— if you have the royal jelly before a meat meal, you're just kind of activating and supercharging your body's ability to use that meat for growth. It's a really kind of little bit esoteric, but it really does make a difference. Eat raw meat. Now, if you haven't heard me talk about raw meat before, here is the summary. There's more to it than this, but in short, when we cook things, when we're heating them up at a certain temperature, you're going to denature ingredients, enzymes, nutrients inside they get lost, so they're not— they're therefore not available for the body when we eat it. You've noticed if you have ever eaten a well-done steak, a steak that's overcooked, think about how heavy that sits in the body. It doesn't really feel good compared to one that's nice, very, you know, rare. The same principle exists for the entire steak. You just don't cook the outside, or whatever type of meat that it is. Raw meat is much more biologically available in terms of the nutrients, the proteins, the fats. The fats aren't degraded by heat, so any raw meat you have is going to be easily put towards growing much better than cooked meat. That's the summary of it. When I swapped to eating fully raw meat, I noticed that I had to eat less quantity of that meat in order to feel the same amount of satisfied from my meal. So what that means to me is The meat— your body makes you hungry because it needs nutrients. If you get that nutrients that it needs, you can stop eating. And when you have a healthy relationship with raw whole animal foods, that's basically what happens. You don't need this huge massive bowl of food in order to get the same nutrients which your body needs, so you need to eat less. It's better digested as well. And it just— everything just feels better. So that's my experience with raw meat. My recovery is better, gain muscle better. So yeah, that's my recommendation. Focus on eating larger animals such as cows or bison or mammoth if you have access to that. There's a metaphysical quality to what we eat. Wild deer is also really, really good, really anabolic if you can get your hands on that. Or if you hunt, if you're looking to gain mass, eating larger animals, cows and bison, they're quite stocky. They're a bit slower. It makes sense to me that eating that meat kind of puts that same physical energy onto you. Just like if I wanted to get leaner and quicker, I would eat more fish. I would eat rabbit or the smaller deer that are very, very fast. It's the same kind of principle. Bit out there, but I do believe it makes a difference. So if you want to put on weight, big heavy animals. Bear, if you could have that. I know some— I've seen that in, uh, in Sweden once in a, in a store. Having small pieces of pineapple with the meat will— is, is going to enhance digestion. Also, a little bit of raw honey with every meal is always going to improve your digestion, but a little bit drizzled on top of the raw meat is also a great way to enhance the flavor. Raw liver, of course, as well, is a staple in my diet in general for the micronutrient content. That I recommend for general health anyway. So that's kind of how the meat side of it goes. Raw cheese with raw honey as a snack whenever. I would focus on cheeses that are from sheep milk because sheep's milk is the most calorically dense. So something like a Manchego, make sure it's made with the raw milk, or if you have some sort of local unsalted cheese that would be great as well. Cheese and honey itself is just like a really good way to get minerals and a good, pretty easy snack that you can pack wherever you're gonna go. So that blended milkshake that I told you about before, I'm gonna need you to wake up at 3 AM and have a drink of that. Now, I know some bodybuilders recommend that. They recommend it for a reason. They're recommending some, you know, garbage protein shake, which I don't, but the raw cream, raw honey, raw milk shake, if you can pre-blend a cup of that and leave it in the fridge or just by your bedside table at night, it's not gonna go off or anything in the few hours that you're asleep. Wake up at 3 AM. If you're very in tune with your body, you can just tell yourself to wake up at that time and your brain, your subconscious will. Set an alarm if you're not at that point yet and then guzzle that down, make sure you're still you know, processing it with your mouth properly, you're not just slamming it down. Being able to get that hit of calories and nutrients in the middle of your sleep cycle is actually very, very good. You're going to sleep better because of it, but it's also just going to decrease the amount of time that you're spending without food going into your system. So you're going to get out of that kind of catabolic state of not eating for that 8-hour period. If you haven't eaten for 8 hours during the day, you're usually pretty hungry. Sleep is energy intensive. Waking up at 3 AM, having one of those shakes is going to be— go really, really far into providing you with more nutrients and improving your weight gain. Raw butter. I'm a big fan of all raw dairy, but raw butter, a few slices with most of the meals, uh, that you have is a great way to increase calories as well. Super high in cholesterol, so your hormones are going to be boosted from that. I've already mentioned kind of drinking raw milk, but I usually go through 3 liters of raw milk just kind of on most days, and if I'm trying to bulk, I'll bump that up to 4 or 5. I'm quite a large person, so I can do that, uh, quite easily. But in general, what makes a baby cow go to a big cow? It's raw milk, you know. It's designed for growth. So if you haven't really had a lot of milk in your diet so far, get on to it. Uh, have several liters a day or a couple liters a day. It's the ultimate weight gain drink. And if you can, you should get your hands on raw colostrum. Colostrum is the first milk that is produced by a cow after they've had a baby. Obviously, we want to promote ethical farming practices, give the, the baby cow everything that it needs. Usually there's an overproduction of milk and a good farmer will collect that and offer it for sale, again hopefully unfrozen. And then that, it's, it's like this really rich yellowy milk, and that stuff will absolutely supercharge your weight gain. Liquid gold, some people call it. So I highly recommend raw milk and raw colostrum if you can get your hands on it. It's kind of like the royal jelly for cows. Also fermenting any raw dairy to make raw cheese or raw kefir. Basically, fermenting is allowing the bacteria to pre-digest food for you. When we drink raw milk, it gets digested by bacteria in the stomach. So really, by fermenting something, we're just allowing that digestion to take place by the bacteria before we put it into our bodies. So we're going to assimilate more of it. So obviously that means we're going to be able to get more nutrients out of it. You're improving our weight gain. So that's mostly all the food that I would recommend for naturally, healthily gaining weight. There are other things, a few other tips that I would recommend, and here they are. Full semen retention. Obviously this one is only for the guys, but to conserve ejaculation for the entire period that you want to weight gain, uh, is very smart because semen requires energy and nutrients to create. You know, it doesn't come out of nowhere, and your body has to divert energy and nutrients and minerals and everything else to making that substance within the body. If you're constantly removing that out of your body, then you have to replenish it over and over again. That is your food nutrients going towards something that's kind of just like wasted in that sense. So I recommend not ejaculating. Definitely don't do it often and often. I understand we're in this world, and if you're with a partner, these things happen. But I'm taking the kind of the max level, highest chance of weight gain possible. That is what I would do. So full semen retention, that's obviously going to have a positive effect on your hormones as well. Your testosterone boosts when you don't ejaculate for a long time. So all of these things are going to improve, uh, your hormonal state, increase the nutrients available for recovery, and improve weight gain. Got my milk here. Milk is just really good as well if, if you're someone like me who's working a lot. You just keep on refilling that milk, you know, as I'm typing or filming or whatever. I'm not going to get up and make a meal as often, so if I'm working for several hours, it just really helps to have that liquid food. Throughout rather than going a few hours without food. Exercise should become shorter and more intense periods that focus on using muscle glycogen rather than using fat. So this means more intense bursts of activity. For weightlifting, that means shortening your workouts. You're not doing 2 hours in the gym, you're doing 45 minutes to an hour, uh, but you're still going very, very intensely and pushing yourself in order to get that signal to the muscle that we need to grow. Like, you're really pushing yourself. This is not holding back just because, oh, Sol Brah said I need to weight gain, so I'm not going to work out. No, but keep it intense. And you're not doing it for 2 hours. Do sprints instead of running for miles and miles and miles. Now you can have a debate about like, oh, but I love my running and stuff. That's fine. This video is about weight gain, and for weight gain you want short bursts of intense activity Uh, that's going to improve growth hormone much more than these marathon-style runs. So your exercise should shift to these shorter periods if you want to maximize weight gain. Taking naps— a nap in the afternoon is a real game changer if you're working out in the morning, or just in general, uh, a little extra burst of focused recovery where you shut down. And like, all your weight gain is going to be done during sleep when your body has shut down all the other processes and it's resting and recovering. If you're not getting enough sleep, it's going to be very hard for you to put on weight. That includes, you know, obviously I recommend 8 to 9 hours of sleep in the evening, uh, overnight, with of course our milkshake break at 3 AM. But an afternoon nap of 40 minutes or so is going to make a large difference in your recovery if you can get that into your lifestyle. If you're really focused on putting on weight, obviously sleep should be highest quality in general. I've talked in other places about that, not going to go into it now. If you were to do all of this with high quality, organic, locally sourced foods, then you're going to put on some quality mass. I can tell you that there's not a lot of people that I've seen that eat this way or understand that this is the best way to healthily put on weight. This is not gender specific, this is for both men and women. and both are going to benefit from this weight gain if that's your current goal. Notice how I didn't need any of these processed weight gain powders or supplements and things that the gym industry puts out there. They're not necessary. Whole food sources do it better and more healthily and much more deliciously. So if you're going for, you know, a tasty food or tasty drink, the whole food natural sources is better. 10 out of 10 times if you know what to have.
