Startup founders are too busy to waste time on elaborate plans or consultants. Focus on the fundamentals: what, who, when, why, and how much. Get directionally correct first, refine later.

The one thing that a lot of these methodologies do have right is that founders don't have a lot of time. They don't have a lot of energy left over after you're doing 500,000 things in one day. You're barely keeping your head above water to sit there and do some crazy math and have some consultant do a bunch of stuff. It's going to be worthless by the time you get there. But you do have to have some basics, right? The what, who, when, why, how much, that all that you have to have those basics because that's directionally correct and you need to be directionally correct even if you're not detail direct. By the time you get there, you'll fix it.
