Corporate jets cruise at 43,000 to 51,000 feet where turbulence is rare, skip air-traffic congestion, and take direct routes. Steve Varsano says it's like flying an empty highway versus city traffic.

Next time you're on a commercial airline bouncing around in that turbulence, sorry to say, it'll be a lot less turbulent, a lot smoother, and a lot faster if you're flying on a corporate jet. Think of it like driving in city traffic versus an empty highway. Less congestion, smoother ride. Corporate jets actually fly faster and smoother than commercial airlines. Commercial jets usually cruise at altitudes from 32,000 feet to max, max 41,000 feet. That's where most of the turbulence lives. And the corporate jets fly really between 43,000 and 51,000 feet. There's less traffic, you're burning less fuel, So it's more energy efficient, and since there's less traffic, you can get more direct routing. Not only the airplanes go faster, but they're also taking shorter distances.
