Don't try to squeeze 100% of the value out of every deal. Leave some on the table so your client stays satisfied. Figure out what matters most to them—price, timing, whatever—and meet them somewhere in the middle instead of holding one rigid position.

You can't expect to get 100% of every dollar out of every deal. You have to leave something on the table for the client, or they're going to be very unhappy with you. When you're negotiating with somebody, you can say you want to stand your position, you want to stand your ground, you want to force it. In reality, it doesn't work that way. You try to figure out what's the touchpoint, what really is the client looking for. It might be price, it might be timing, it could be a lot of different things. But if you could really find what the most important things are to the people, you could try and sometimes usually can find a reasonable in-between position to agree on.
