Steve Varsano walks a client through buying a corporate jet. At $5-7 million, you get older planes like a Gulfstream V that fit 14 people but are rough on 10-hour flights. Jump to $15-20 million for a newer Boeing, plus expect $4 million a year to operate it.
How much is your budget? $5 to $7 million. $5 to $7 million? Uh, I would say take the airlines.
My owners and my company are looking for a plane in the States traveling from [MASKED] 4 times a year and about 14 passengers.
You might be able to get an old BBJ, a Boeing, for maybe in the high teens that might be able to do that trip and will carry 14 people. Even if you go to an old straight Gulfstream V or a Global Express Classic, you can get 14 in, but you really would not want to sit on that airplane for 10 10-hour trip.
What would you recommend for something like that? This is their first purchase getting into private jet sector.
Unless you go to a Boeing or an Airbus, it's going to be every single seat full. If we went up to $15 to $20 million, Boeing Business Jet is probably something that you could do a trip and people will be much more comfortable. It's going to be a little bit more operating cost on the airplane, but your acquisition cost is going to be in that same area. Okay, what's the operational expenses for something like that? For Boeing, it's probably about $4 million
