Imagine your life five years from now and write down the exact job title and achievements you want. Without a clear goal, you drift aimlessly like a flag in the wind. Set a target and gain direction.
I ask anybody who's come to work for me, if you had a clean slate, a white piece of paper in front of you, and you dream really in 5 years from today, what would you want to really, really be doing in your life? You want to be married? You want to be with a different person? Do you want to have a different career? Do you want to be a vice president of a dream company? Do you want to have your own company? You have to really write down on a piece of paper, what should that CV say in 5 years from now? What is that latest job that I'm doing? If you don't have that spot, that target, really aim for, you're just in the wind like a flag. You're just flopping around there, and you will never accomplish anything. Put the line in the sand, draw where you want to be, and now you have a target to get to.
