Steve Varsano sells corporate jets. Only about 50 new ones sell worldwide each month, and 300 used ones change hands. His firm focuses on used jets because there's more volume, but you need a mandate from the buyer or seller to close a deal.

Corporate jets are manufactured much less often than commercial airlines. I was wondering, do you order the planes after gaining a sale? How does that work?
You're right, it is a very tiny market. There's only 50 new jets sold in the entire world a month, and there's about 300 used jets that are traded every month in the whole world. Most of the business we do is in the pre-owned airplanes. We're trying to get into that, those 300 in there. It's good because there's very few clients, and so when there's one that pops up and is really looking for a plane, it's amazing how everybody in our industry finds that person, the whole thing is how do you convince them that you should be the one who should be mandated to represent them, either to sell their plane or to buy one for them. And if you don't have that relationship, it's hard to do any deal. The jet business, it's so unique, and it's easier than you can possibly think.
