A private jet makes sense only if you can afford it, actually need it, and fly 150-200 hours a year. Otherwise charter or fractional ownership costs less. About a quarter of people shopping for jets are better off not buying.

Hey Steve. Hey. Give me 3 reasons why I shouldn't buy a private jet. Why you shouldn't buy a private jet? Well, the first one is, of course, if you can't afford it, don't buy one. And second one, if you don't have a need, you definitely shouldn't buy it just for joy. That's not why you buy an airplane. And the third reason, even if you have the need, make sure you have enough need, because if you're not flying more than 150, 200 hours a year, might as well just charter or buy fractional. It makes more sense. Is it true you tell more people not to buy a jet than yes? Not more, but we probably tell 25 or 30% of the people that come to see us that they should not buy an airplane because it makes more sense to either charter or bifractional.
