Here's 4 ways to get feedback on your writing that don't help. Number 1, your family and friends. First of all, they don't understand good writing and they want to make you feel good, so they're just going to tell you you're great. It doesn't really matter. Number 2, AI. If the feedback changes every time you change the prompt, then you can't trust it. The AI is there to make you happy and make you feel good. It's not going to give you feedback on your writing that will actually make you better. Number 3, beta readers. They'll tell you whether or not they liked it and maybe point out some things they did or didn't like, but that doesn't actually give you what's wrong with your book. In your writing and how to fix it. Number 4, writers groups. All it is is the blind leading the blind. If you're an amateur writer trying to figure this out, you're probably not going to give really specific, good, actionable feedback, and neither are the other amateur writers in your writers group. I've seen this go on for decades, except for the AI version, of course, and I've just watched writers either stay stuck, not get any better, or in most cases, just get worse.
