In this presentation Summer Chang shares the motivation, design, and implementation of dōsan (also branded as adosan.tech), an AI‑driven home‑repair assistant she built in a few days using AWS services. She explains how the app solves the common homeowner frustration of not knowing whether a problem is a quick fix or requires a professional. The user flow consists of six steps: snap a photo of the issue, answer optional quick questions, receive a diagnosis, cost estimate, part recommendations, and the option to hire a vetted local professional while staying anonymous. Behind the scenes the app runs on Amazon Aurora for the relational database, Amazon S3 for photo storage, and Amazon Bedrock for the generative AI that analyses images and text. Privacy is enforced by separating personally identifiable information into a locked table that contractors cannot access until the homeowner permits it. The business model offers the app free to homeowners, earning revenue when professionals receive qualified leads or when users purchase recommended parts. Summer invites viewers to try the service at adosan.tech and outlines a future vision where the platform proactively prevents home issues, preserving home value.

Hey, I'm Summer. So when I bought my first home, every little thing that went wrong kind of freaked me out. A drip under the sink, some weird noise, and an outlet that just died. I never, never knew it was a quick fix or a real problem, an urgent one. So I built a dōsan. Think of it like a home dad you can call. Let me show you how it works. Let me show you how it works. Okay, so this is where it starts. You snap a photo of what— whatever is going wrong, and a dōsan tells you what's probably is. What it should cost, and whether it's something you can handle yourself or you should call somebody. The whole thing's just six steps. So first, you take a photo, answer a couple quick questions if it needs them, and you get straight answer back. I actually mapped. But everything that comes was only in the home, and I kept hitting the same wall. The regular upkeep, uh, like, what do I fix? When does it matter? And who do I even call? Nobody teaches you that. That's the gap Adult Son fills. So here's where you begin. Snap a photo, type a quick note, pick your neighborhood. And the nice part, if a doll sound isn't sure, just ask you quick questions instead of pretending it, it knows. Familiar? Behind the scenes, this all runs on AWS. The app talks to a server, the server talks to the database, the photos get sorted, and the AI reads them. Your phone never touches any of the sensitive stuff. There are 4 AWS pieces making this work. The database is Amazon Aurora. This is where everything lives. Bedrock runs the AI. S3 holds the photos, and the rest Keeps it locked down. And right here, this is actually Aurora database live in the AWS console. And privacy isn't just something I promise or those I promise. It's built Right into the database. Your name, your number, they sit in a separate locked data table a contractor literally cannot reach until you say so. Once you have got your answer, You pick what to fix yourself or you hire someone else. Although San shows you exact part to buy, um, if you want to hire someone else, want a pro, it matches you with someone local. You stay anonymous until you decide to connect. Either way, you save to my home. You can track down your house maintenance journey. It's an app you can use. You can install on your phone, save to a home page, diagnose. Something and shop the parts. Find a pro and keep up with the seasonal stuff. Most of these marketplaces, right, you hand over your number and you hope somebody calls back. Although some flips that, you stay private. You see a fair price first, And then you reach out when you are ready. It's free for homeowners, although some makes money when a pro gets a ready-to-go lead or you buy the parts it recommends. So either way, it, it's like the cheapest way to fix A thing at home, and it works. Not just the most expensive ones. So now you can try it yourself at adosan.tech, and down the road, Ado-san's going to catch this stuff before it breaks, so your home stays healthy. And worth more over time. Thanks for watching!
