This Testimony Will Shake You: God Saved Him

Tami Grgas witnesses an SUV flip on black ice in front of her, then discovers the 21-year-old driver is the person she'd been praying for that morning. She calls 911, helps him, and shares how the encounter deepened her faith after leaving Catholicism for a personal relationship with Jesus.

Hello. I had a crazy moment today. So I'll tell you my little story. This is something that God has done with me today, and I'm telling you while I'm driving because I need to get it out of my head now, and I'm going to pick up my son at college. So I was driving, I got up late today, which is kind of unusual for me lately. I'm not an early morning girl, but I'm usually up by like between 8 and 9 AM, and I slept until what, 10:30, 11, something like that. And I was like, what? So that was the first thing that happened. I just thought, you know, I was tired, we just changed the bed sheets, maybe it's because there's not as many dust mites and stuff on the bed, you know, like those kind of circumstances can play into that. So I, uh— Big pothole. That's what happened this morning. Uh, I was actually texting my son to tell him that I had just woken up, and he called me while I was trying to text him, so I I never even got the text out. And he's like, "Hey, Mom, I'm in between classes and I know you were gonna try and shoot for getting here in the middle of classes, but I don't think you're gonna make it. You're still at home." 'Cause he checks his, not Google Maps, whatever that family thing is that we all connect each other. Anyways, so that's the beginning of the story. I had a bunch of stuff in the back seat that I had to take to Goodwill. Mm-hmm. A bunch of declutter that I put into the vehicle. So I did that, and then I was going to get fuel. And you know, it's so weird how things happen sometimes. I usually go to the Costco that's close to our home, but today, like, as I'm on my way there, I'm like, no, I go to the other Costco. It's a little, you know, it's on the way, and I found like it has more, uh, gas tanks and like just not gas tank, you know what I mean, uh, more pumps. So I just did that. And so I'm going on my way, and this song by TobyMac came on, and it was the song that he sings about when his son passed and a bit of his anger with God about it, but also his understanding. Like, it's a beautiful song, okay? I've heard it like so many times and I love it, but I was bawling, like seriously emotionally wrecked by it. And he lost his son at 21 years of age. My son is 21 years of age. So I was just having this conversation with God about, please don't take my boy, God. Like, no, like, don't. I don't know if I can handle that. I don't think he's ready for that. And just like this whole thing with God it turned into. And then— I was driving while I'm talking to God, while I'm listening to this song, got onto the highway, got onto the, the kind of an overpass to get onto the other highway I had to get onto, and this SUV comes from my right and I see it and it's not really— he's— I don't think it was driving erratically or anything, but I believe he hit a patch of black ice while he was trying to turn into the next lane. And his vehicle spun out, hit the curb, and flipped over in front of me. And so I pulled— like, I stopped, uh, and got on my phone and called 911 right away. I, um, was gonna— like, I had to call 911 first because you need to get them coming, but I was gonna get out and see if, you know, nobody had come out of the vehicle yet. And then I saw the driver's side door pop open, and he got himself out and ran over to the curb and sat down there. So as I was on the phone with 911, I went and talked to him, and, and, um, I thought he was like maybe mid-20s. He's a young Black boy, beautiful dreadlocks, like just a beautiful young man. Mm-hmm. And, uh, I think I was still on the line with 911. I can't remember. Like, they, they were sending people and found out where I was and all that kind of stuff. And so as all these other people are gathering around, there are a bunch of people that were like right behind me in their vehicles. And so we were trying to help this young man, and he was of course disoriented and didn't know what happened. And a couple of the gentlemen that talked to, both, all of us, all 3 of us kind of had the same conclusion as to what happened. He hit some black ice and it made it, it spun it out and that's what made him hit the curb and then his vehicle flipped over. And so it was just kind of wild to witness that. And I don't know, I felt the Holy Spirit come down so strong on me. I'm sorry, I'm very emotional right now because that's happening right now. And I told this young man, I said to him, I said, "Honey," like he was very upset and, you know, just totally, you know, as anyone would be after something like that. And I told him what happened to me. I told him, "I was praying for you." Mm-hmm. You were who I was praying for. And I didn't know it because he, like, he finally told us he was 21, and that's when it clicked for me. And I was like, oh my gosh, I was not praying for James. I was praying for this young man. And he wasn't hurt. I mean, there can be, you know, some repercussions afterwards. Mm-hmm. But he wasn't hurt, and I told him the story. I said to him, I was listening to this song by TobyMac, and of course I got all emotional like I am right now, and I— whoa, whoa, there, I almost got into an accident myself. I wish these people wouldn't stop so short. Anyways, um, I said to him, I told him that I was listening to TobyMac's song, and I told him I was bawling my eyes out. I was so upset by it. It's never hit me like that before. And I was praying for a 21-year-old young man And I think it was you. And I told him, Jesus was sitting right beside you in that vehicle. And I said, if you are a follower of Jesus Christ, you know that. If you are not, now is the time. This could be your turning point for you to turn around and come to Christ. Thank you. And he started bawling and I was bawling and it was just this moment of Holy Ghost, wow. So at this point we were waiting for the EMTs to show up and all that stuff, um, and I just— I, I stayed until they came because I just couldn't leave without making sure he was taken care of. I don't know his name, but as they were— they got him, like, they finally got there, they got him on the stretcher, they were taking him in the ambulance, and I just said to him before he left, I said, "Remember what I said, and I'm going to find you because I want to know you're okay." And then, you know, everybody, all the people who were witnesses and that kind of stuff, we were all gathering our stuff and leaving. And I got into my vehicle that I'm in right now, and on my drive to go get my fuel, because I hadn't gotten fuel yet, I literally— the Holy Spirit came down on me. I I was crying. I was thanking God for that young man, thanking God that I could be there and help. And you know what God said to me? I still can't believe this happened. God said, Tami, thank you for being a good and faithful servant. So that's why I have to document this, you guys. Like, that really happened. That was— and if you're watching this and you're thinking I'm a Looney Tunes, I'm sorry, but I'm not. If you don't know who Jesus Christ is Or if you know who he is but you don't understand it and you want to know more, send me a message. I'd like to talk to you. Because in this world that we live in, there's a lot of misconstrued ideas about who God is. Yes. And a lot of people kind of get trapped in that area, and that happened to me when I was younger. I had heard all the stories, but I thought God was always mad because, you know, I was raised in a Roman Catholic Church. And that's kind of the, you know, this is back in the 1970s when I was younger. So I didn't come to Christ until I was in my 30s. I spent a lot of time drifting and wandering and not really living a full life. Yes. And it has taken a lot of different churches, listening to a lot of different pastors, preachers, until I finally found a place that understands me. Finding a place that understands you might be difficult, especially— Mm-hmm. When you want to tell these kind of Holy Spirit moments to other people. In other churches, I have felt judged. I, you know, when I share stories about crazy stuff happening— because I call it crazy because it feels crazy, but I know it's not— and the rest of the world judges this. As crazy. It feels to me. But I find that finding a church is not really the necessary element. The necessary element is is finding a community of like-minded people. Woo! Got the salt trucks out, and it's shooting all sorts of stuff at my vehicle, and we gotta get past it. So yeah, like, it just— my first community that really helped me to see was online. And it helped me a lot. It really helped me clear the clutter of the rest of the world's idea about— or ideas about religion. And now I'm going to say something that can be quite controversial now. But all the different religions out there, and I mean all of them, you guys, if they follow a God, a good God, it's the same God. We're all trying to follow the same God. And that's just— there are some religions, I guess, that follow God's nemesis, which is Satan, Lucifer, whatever. He has several names, just like God does. Yahweh, um, there's another one, I can't think. There's a few of them. I got a whole thing on my wall that has all the different names of God. But I found that one of the things that really helped me in my journey with Christ— because he's beside me right now, he's sitting right here, and I always invite him in. He lives in me, and that's the key. And then the other key is don't let anybody tell you that the devil is not real. He's out there. And this outside of my vehicle right now, I protected my vehicle. I covered it in the blood of Jesus Christ. And I keep Satan out of my vehicle. Wherever I am, I try to remember to do that. I am human, so I do forget sometimes, but I think God has some grace with me and understands, "Oh yeah, she wants to be covered. Okay, let's make sure everything's protected." Thank you. Where she is. And I just— I know he's real and he will try. He will try to get to you through other people. He will try to get through you with life circumstances. And that's how he works. And anything outside of my little world of where I am at the moment, that's That's the devil's playground. That's where he's trying and unfortunately succeeding in some cases. So I'm going to stop the video here, and this is going to be probably on YouTube in my own personal diaries section. Excuse me. Because I want to document this for people to see. I want people to know that He is real. And after going through this experience, I'm like, okay, God wants— He called me a good and faithful servant. I want to continue that. That is why I'm filming this right now. No other reason. Because I want to talk to you. And I want you to know that He loves you. Thank you. He— Jesus would have died on the cross if you were the only human being he could rescue. And it's not about going to a church. It's not about— it's not about anything public. It's about your personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and you personally, with all your heart and all your soul, inviting Jesus to help you, inviting him into your heart and asking him to help you navigate this life on the earth. That's it. Thank you. That's it. Once you do that, He's in. Hold Him in. Try to let Him lead you. Don't just invite Him in and then forget about Him. That's not the proper way. Although God has enough grace that He'll accept that. Yeah. So yeah, I said I was gonna leave and I didn't leave, but I'm gonna leave now, so God bless you. God bless you. God loves you. Amen.
