Tamsen Webster explains how stories work as arguments. Every story emphasizes some details and downplays others to shape what you believe. The choices a storyteller makes about what to highlight determine the argument the story makes.
If you think about it, every story is really just an argument in disguise. So whenever we are telling a story, whenever we structure something like a story, we are maximizing the understandability of something. But we are also, whether we realize it or not, very clearly highlighting and downplaying certain events, characters, aspects, thinking processes, etc., to make a particular argument.
