Hear Elinor Bindman explain why her piano transcription of Bach's cello suites is more than just a project. It's a deep dive into musical mastery.
You're zooming into how Bach wrote because you're only looking at one voice at a time. And dividing the music between two hands pianistically, which, you know, I'm equipped to do because I'm a pianist, enables me to show the hidden polyphony and the structure better. Because it's now divided. And then, so I can show the first of, let's say, the 4 notes of the main pattern. And then I can show the hidden polyphony notes that change or don't change in the other hand. So it's visually almost like a guide to how Bach wrote his themes. So I think in that sense, it's an invaluable resource for study.
