Physician engagement isn't just happiness. It's emotional investment in creating value for patients and the organization. If you can't enthusiastically say your top three to five physicians are truly engaged, there's work to do.

Something else I think is really important from my experience is helping make sure that we have a clear alignment and definition around just the idea of engagement. And one of the things that I do want to try to debunk is this idea that engagement is ultimately just meaning that our physicians are satisfied or that they're happy. Because what it actually means is that when we get, when we get a physician that's truly engaged, is that they actually become emotionally invested in and focused on creating value for the organization and our patients every day. And so I want you to just think about, you know, the top 3 or 5 physicians that come to your mind right this second when you even think about physicians. And would you say that right now all 3 to 5 of them are emotionally invested in and focused on creating value for the organization and patients every day? And if your answer is anything less than an enthusiastic yes, then that tells you you've got some opportunities to help close that gap and create an environment where they are more likely to choose to be engaged. Now, I do want to clarify that as well. We don't have the ability to make any human being engaged or disengaged, but what we can do is create an environment where they're more likely to choose to be engaged.
