We talk about how do you set expectations with your junior partner or a managing partner if you have one at your clinic, especially if they're doing all the work but don't get all the profits. Check it out. It is very likely they're gonna come back to you. And some people may feel it's not fair. Right. You know, I own 20, 30% of the business, yet I'm doing 100% of the work. Right. And it's not fair.
Right.
You know, and Paul, like, we've seen this many times and we've lost. This is where the divorces happen, right? So, Paul, like, with that scenario, what, like, what advice or experience can you give to be able to counteract that early on? Because it will happen, right? But. But people won't experience until like eight, ten years later, right?
Yeah, I kind of wrote it in the chat. I like to have those conversations and talk about that exact same scenario early on before the partnership even happened. And I think Kate and Evan, we've talked about this as well, like having that discussion with your partner saying, hey, listen, at a certain point, yes, we're starting out this partnership and everything's like, rosy and everything looks great and we're all like, positive and optimistic. But there will be a point where you are going to feel like you deserve more and because, you know, you're doing the work in the clinic and all that sort of stuff. But, you know, one of the things that I like to tell them is if you're ambitious, I'm going to get you more. I'm going to help you get gain more in the business at a later date. So don't feel like that resentment because we just have to talk about it. We'll have a community. If you let me know, we can figure out a solution to that. But also know, and this is coming from my perspective just because of my, like, the experience. And everyone in this panel has that kind of experience where it took us a lot of pain, blood, sweat and tears to gain all of this experience over the years. And so that knowledge is going to get you, as a junior partner ahead 10 times faster than how long it took ME to get here. And there's value with that. Right? And so if you want more, I'm going to help you get more. But don't. Don't feel like you have to keep that resentment bottled in and go open up a clinic next door or like, you know, in another town or wherever. Let's talk about it first and let's see if there's opportunities where we could continue to work together. And the reason I know this is because my mentor did that to me and I stayed loyal to my mentor, and I'm still, still loyal to him. And there was times where that resentment would build up and I would be like, why am I working so hard and he's not doing anything? And blah, blah, blah. And he would remind me, remember when we had that talk? Remember when we had that talk? And where. Where the actual. Where it sunk in was not when things were going great, but when things were going down the table. And then that's when he would come, like, that's when I would go to him and try to get the advice that I. Right. And I'm like, okay, this is why he's here. He's not here every day, but those days where things are going to shit, that's why I need him. Right? So again, they're not going to really know that until they go through a hard time. Right?
