This is an open letter to all of the fathers— flawed, faithful, and still finding their way. To the ones who showed up even when they had nothing left in the tank. To the quiet protectors, the hard workers, the ones who didn't always have the words but always made a way. This is for you. To the Black fathers so often misrepresented, misunderstood, and left out of the narrative, we see you. We honor you. And even to those who couldn't or wouldn't show up, this is not an excuse, but an acknowledgement of the pain left behind. Because on Father's Day, some of us are celebrating and some of us are surviving. Some of us are grieving And some of us are healing out loud. But today, I want to be intentional. I want to say a special Happy Father's Day to my big brother Manny. He's been showing up for me for as long as I can remember. When I moved to Pennsylvania after Mommy passed, and I was walking around in a fog, numb, confused, and heavy, Manny opened his doors. And the thing is, he never closed them, even now. For 27 years, Manny, whether you know him as Uncle Cat, the Quiet Storm, or just that strong presence in the cut, you've been my rock, my angel investor, my confidant, my 3:00 AM phone call. This family, we're in turmoil. And no relationship is perfect. But when others turned their backs, you stood 10 toes down. I don't even think you know what that did for me. And I just want to say it clearly, out loud, and with love. I love you. I see you. And I couldn't have asked for a better big brother. Enjoy your day, my love. You deserve it. This one's for every man like you showing up even when they're not being celebrated. And to all the fathers out there, Your presence matters. Your effort matters. You matter. Happy Father's Day from The Trigger and the Truth.
