Full Disclosure: The Child Pays for the Sins and Secrets of the Father
20 Jul 2025 · 14 min
Tina White examines how childhood sexual trauma in men shapes their relationships and parenting, often hidden behind performance and control. She argues that unprocessed wounds get passed to the next generation, and that naming the trauma is the only way to break the cycle.

Now let's dive into today's episode and start this journey into self-discovery and wellness together. Have you ever met a man who's always irritated, dates multiple women at the same time, has kids all over the city, petty, emotionally unavailable, moving like a womanizer? Now let's be real, some men are just wired that way. That's who they are, that's what they like, and they make no apologies for it. But there's another group of men, men who are fighting silent battles, men who were touched inappropriately as children, men who never got the language, the space, or the support to unpack what happened to them. And instead of healing, they buried it, masked it, performed for the public. And now, decades later, they're still stuck in the pain. Let's be clear, this isn't about calling anybody out or shaming anyone. This is about naming what's been killing our men quietly: confusion, secrets, and unresolved trauma. In our community, we've mastered the art of silence. We call it discipline or being strong, but underneath there's shame. Hypersexuality doesn't always mean confidence. It can mean confusion. It can mean survival. It can mean pain that was never addressed. There are men in their 30s, 40s, 50s, even 60s who have never known a day of peace since they were violated. Still performing, still pretending, still broken. And the truth is Women and children often become collateral damage in their chaos. Generational harm gets recycled. Legacies get passed down that no one asked for. But here's the thing, at some point, no matter what happened to you, you have to take responsibility for what you do to others. What happened wasn't your fault, but healing, that's your responsibility. You deserve freedom. You deserve peace. And the people you love deserve the version of you that no longer has to hide. Juggling clients, deadlines, family, and pressure on autopilot? But behind the scenes, you're overwhelmed and still expected to keep it all together. Pick Up the Pieces is a 21-day emotional mastery strategy designed for women in business who are tired of silently breaking down while building everything around them. This isn't just a journal, it's a reset. Tap the link and grab your copy today. We're going to break this down into segments, full disclosure, and I need you to lean in because this one, it's layered, it's necessary, and it might hit close to home. Too many men, especially in our communities, have been carrying trauma in silence. Molestation, abuse, violation at an early age. And instead of confronting that pain, they bury it. They mask it with ego, with women, with power, with chaos. They build lives, families, even entire marriages on top of pain that's never been acknowledged, let alone healed. Again, I say this not to judge, but to bear witness. This isn't gossip, this isn't tea, this is my truth, shaped by years of holding secrets for others, loving our men, and watching them slowly self-destruct under the weight of unresolved trauma. Some of you are fathers, husbands, successful businessmen. On paper, everything looks good, but in your spirit, you're bitter, angry, controlling, confused, and every woman you touch becomes collateral damage. Let me be clear, Not every woman is the problem. The real issue? You've never had a safe space to be honest about what really happened to you. Segment 1: The Performance of Masculinity. Many men were taught to perform strength and power, but not process pain. From an early age, they were told to man up instead of speak up. That leads to emotionally dishonest relationships where no one is truly known. It's time to stop confusing strength with suppression. But here's the truth: you can't pretend your way into peace, and you can't love your children right while hating yourself quietly. We're talking childhood trauma, buried abuse, survival mode masculinity, the pressure to lead while emotionally depleted, and the cost of not telling the truth. Not just to others, but to yourself. Because you can't build a whole life on a false foundation and expect peace. And emotional suppression is not strength, it's self-neglect. Segment 2: Living with a lie will ruin your life. Suppressing trauma doesn't just affect you. It affects how you love, how you parent, how you lead. It's why some men sabotage every good thing in their life. You can't be a whole man while hiding whole chapters of your story. When the Violation Becomes the Silence. Somewhere in childhood, something happened, something that wasn't supposed to. A moment, a touch, a violation that shattered the innocence of a boy who never asked to be exposed to that kind of pain. A boy whose body was betrayed before his mind even had the words to make sense of what was happening. It wasn't love. It wasn't affection. It was a crossing, a trespass that stole something sacred. But nobody talked about it. Maybe he was told to forget. Maybe he wasn't believed. Maybe he was too afraid to speak. So he stayed quiet, confused, ashamed, alone. And that silence, it calcified. It turned into a wall around his heart, a mask on his face, a constant need to control or conquer just to feel powerful again. Especially when that violation came at the hands of someone of the same sex. Now the confusion settles in, not just about what happened, but about what it means. Does this mean I'm gay? Does this mean something's wrong with me? Was it my fault? Why didn't I fight? Why did my body respond? That internal war, the one nobody sees, is one of the deepest traumas a man can carry. Because society doesn't leave room for that kind of pain in men, especially not Black men, especially not those who were raised to be hard, silent, and stoic. So now he grows up wearing his trauma like cologne. He hides in bravado. He overperforms. He womanizes. He becomes emotionally unavailable, not because he doesn't want to feel, but because he never felt safe to begin with. He builds a life with walls so high not even love can climb them. And when relationships fail, he blames the woman. When his kids are distant, he blames their mother. When he feels empty, he blames the world. But what he's really doing is avoiding the mirror, because what he sees there is the child who was hurt and never healed, the child who never had a safe space to say, "Something happened to me, and I've been bleeding ever since." Segment 3: Start with Truth. Let me tell you what I know for sure. You cannot heal what you're too afraid to name. There are men living in silent torment. Some are engaged, some are married, and all of them are still confused about who they are. Still questioning their masculinity, their sexuality, their worth because of something that was done to them, not something they chose. Because trauma, when left unspoken, turns into performance, into shame, into anger that lashes out at everyone around you, including the people who love you the most. And what happens You raise a son who doesn't understand emotions because you never unpacked your own. You marry a woman you love but can't connect with because your heart has never felt safe enough to open. You think you're protecting yourself, but really you're burying yourself.

Segment 4: Let's tell the truth and start again. So let me say this clearly, boldly, and with love. You are not broken. You were violated. You are not weak. You were wounded. You are not your trauma, but you do have to confront it if you want peace. That confusion you carry, that shame, that fear of being seen, it's not your final story. But the truth, the truth is the beginning of your freedom. You can't undo the past, But you can interrupt the cycle. You can be the man who finally says, "This happened to me, and I deserve to heal." To tell the truth, let's unpack a heavy bag that's been bursting at the seams.
We owe it to ourselves to hold ourselves accountable, owning our part in the breakdown of a relationship. One of us might be a narcissist, or maybe both of us. Are you willing to tell the truth about your role? Did you burn sage only to pass out from the fumes? Are you perhaps the root cause of the problem? I'll go first. If I'm being honest, I can be problematic when my buttons are pushed or when I feel my boundaries have been crossed. God is still working on me, and that's why we're here. I'm taking this journey with you because I need healing just as much as anyone else. I've had to confront my own tendencies. I've realized that in conflict, I almost always become an avoidant. I shut down, walk away, and don't look back. That's not healthy. So, here's the question: Can you face yourself and admit to your part? The first step toward healing is honesty.
So, to all the men out there, it's time to tell the truth. To yourselves, to your partners, to your children, because pretending is exhausting. And the people who love you deserve the real you, not the wounded version still performing for approval you never got. Being the interruption in a generational cycle isn't easy, but it's necessary. When you tell yourself the truth, no matter how painful, you reclaim your power. You stop bleeding on people who didn't cut you. You stop raising children who inherit the trauma you never healed from. And that's not an insult. It's an invitation, an invitation to heal, to feel, to be whole, because your children deserve more than the lie you've been living, and you deserve more than the pain you've been surviving. Let's break the cycle. This is The Trigger and the Truth. If this episode moved you, share it. Send it to a brother, a father, a friend who needs to hear it. And if you're ready to start healing, keep showing up, because over here we don't judge the wound, we honor the truth. See you next time.
