Create a Market Position Report in Market Quest / Quick Tip

A brief tutorial (quick tip) video by Tom Pelton that demonstrates how to create a Market Position Report in the Market Quest tool on mycbdesk.com. The video covers selecting location and report filters (property type, transaction side, sales type), setting date and price ranges, choosing report classification (brand/brokerage/office/agent), generating the report, and exporting options (customizable PDF, email to up to three recipients). It also describes downloading marketing assets (social images and ad formats) and emphasizes compliance with the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).

We appreciate you being here since this program is optional and discusses best practices for your consideration. If you are thinking of adopting any of them, please make sure to review the requirements in your area region with your broker, branch manager, or manager, including those related to contacting consumers. We do want to highlight the importance of the Telephone Consumer Protection act, better known as tcpa. The general rules are that it's okay to call people if the person recently gave you their phone number, but remember to check the DNC lists regularly if they haven't spoken to that person in a while. You will also want to check the DNC list anytime you don't have permission. Automated calling texting platforms should never be used. Pre recorded messages in artificial voices should never be used. You will be personally liable for any violations of the tcpa. We'll mention the TCPA a few times throughout this presentation.
Log into mycbdesk.com and click on the Market Quest tile to get started. Choose Create Market Position Report. Begin by searching for your desired location. You may enter the county, city, or zip. The next filter is also for your location, but rather than searching the area by name, you can simply scroll through this list of all available areas in your Multiple Listing Services area. Next, select the report filters. When selecting the property type, you have the option to choose one or more of the single family, townhome, condominium, multifamily mobile or commercial and lot land farm. The default selection includes single family, townhome and condominium. After selecting your property type, proceed to choose your transaction side, offering options between total list or buy side. Another filter to consider is Sales type. Following this is the date range selection. Then move on to selecting the price range. You have the option to manually input a minimum and maximum price or leave it blank. Finally, determine how the reporting and market position are classified by brand level, brokerage level, office level, or agent level. Clicking Update will generate or update the report based on your selected criteria. The Market Position report is illustrates the market share held by each of the five major brokerages in a chosen location within a multiple listing service. It includes a graph and table presenting the data. You can share the report in two ways, the first being through a PDF. Click on Export Report to proceed. You can customize various aspects of the PDF such as choosing between landscape or portrait format. You can preview the changes in real time. Additionally, you have the option to hide your own information, the competitor names, the data table, and the brand logo. Although it's important to note that some areas may require the brand logo on marketing materials. Once you've chosen your export options, Simply click the export button to immediately download your PDF. Besides downloading as a PDF, you can email the Market Position report to up to three recipients at a time. At the bottom of the page, you'll find an option to download Marketing Assets we offer two types of Market Position assets. The first is a Market Position image available in three different size wide for Facebook, tall for Instagram or Facebook Stories, and square for Instagram posts. Simply click on the desired size to download the image for sharing. The next marketing asset option is the Market Position image. Unlike simply indicating our Market Position, this option includes a breakdown of the top five competitors within the graphic. These graphics are available in the same sizes for social media wide, tall or square, but now with the inclusion of the graph. Additionally, you can download either graphic for a Homespotter Boost digital ad suitable for both web and Facebook formats.
