Wes has been welding for 12 years, starting at 18 under his ironworker father. He moved from structural steel to decorative gates and custom metal work like mailboxes and doors. Mention Tony Ray Baker for a referral.
So Wes, how long have you been doing this? Just tell me right now.
Uh, since I was 18, so 12 years now.
How did you get into welding? What was that? What was the push?
My dad, he's been an ironworker his whole life.
And you loved it? You just knew?
No, I hated it at first. Yeah, but then I just got in the artsy part of it, so I really enjoy that.
And how did you get into gates versus something else?
Uh, I don't even know. I mean, my dad did structural steel and I just— it was boring because it was so repetitive.
Yeah, so I just started taking on the art side of it.
Yeah, I just started taking a liking to it.
Do you do other things besides gates? Because I'm dying to have you do a mailbox.
Oh yeah, if I— doors, mailbox, mailboxes, patio coverings.
Because we want a mailbox to match these beautiful gates. Of course. Yeah, absolutely. I meant to talk to you about that. So anybody— if I send somebody— if somebody wants to call you, they would just call your phone number and tell them Tony Ray Baker sent you, and you'll take good care of them? Yes, sir. Absolutely.
