Live Tucson Real Estate Update with Darren and Tony Ray - Episode 6

In this informal live broadcast, Tucson real‑estate agents Tony Ray Baker and Darren Jones promote their services and community resources. They announce a free football‑schedule giveaway, highlight local fall events (Greek Festival, Chili Festival, Trumpets & Tequila brunch), showcase a high‑profile Will Bruder ultra‑modern home listed for $500,000, and explain a down‑payment‑assistance program they call “Pathway to Purchase.” They also demonstrate inexpensive GE Link smart bulbs controlled via the Wink app, describing cost, lifespan, and automation features. Throughout the show they provide multiple contact methods (phone, email, website) and encourage viewers to like, share, and interact via comments. The dialogue is conversational, promotional, and community‑focused.
Chapters
Good morning, I'm Tony Ray Baker with Tierra Antigua Realty.
And I'm Darren Jones with Tierra Antigua Realty.
Hey, today we want to talk about several things, actually 4 things. We have football schedules free, free, free. I want to tell you about that again. And we want to talk about some really fun things to do, something Greek, something hot, and wait, and then we'll just skip right over this one. If you feel like you've been left in the dark with technology, I've got a cool app for you that's going to bring you out of that and come into the light. Come into the light. And then we're going to talk about the Will Bruder house. We're getting tons of questions about that house. We want to talk to you about the Will Bruder house. So let's get to it. Yeah. First of all, Dennis Jensen, hello. Yay, Seattle. We should have a show called Good Morning Seattle. Good morning, Seattle.
Right. Hello, it's coming.
Make sure you like us on this page right now because if you like us, we can see you talking to us. We have a screen over the camera. Wait, is that this one? Hold on. We have a screen over the camera, and then what happens is, is like Dennis is typing now, and it says, uh, good morning from rainy Seattle. So I can see Dennis typing. So if you like us on our page, we can see you typing questions as well, or comments, or, uh, whatever you want to do. So we'd be excited to talk to you.
So we're here to answer your questions.
Dennis, I'm jealous of the rain situation, let me tell you right now. Um, then, so, um, the other thing One thing I wanted to talk about really quick was that these football schedules, we talked about this last week. Yeah, this. Football schedules. We have some more of these, about 50 of them left over, and we're happy to mail these to you. They seem to be one of our most popular items we mail out to our client base and all of our friends, and they just love this schedule. So done by our assistant Beth, who's a football fan. She makes sure she has the right schedules on there for you.
And if you call Tony Ray Baker and ask for a football schedule, schedule, he will sing Bear Down Arizona for you.
So, wow, thanks. Uh, I will do it. Uh, and then, yeah, so that's how you're going to do it. You want to schedule, call 631-8669. Again, it's 520-631-8669. I'll mail you the football schedule. And, uh, you can also email me at TonyRay@SeaTucsonHomes.com. And SeaTucsonHomes.com is our website. Uh, let's talk about, uh, the Cool house. Will Bruder House. This one, architect Will Bruder. James will tell us if it's in, if it's up there good enough. Can you get an idea? Okay. That we're getting a lot, I think Darren. And this house, wait, make it, wait, let's do like a pan in and pan out. All right. Okay, good. That house, we're getting a lot of questions about it. So if you want more information, of course you can call us, right? You'll, either one of us will answer questions. Or email us and I can send you a link. And you can text me or Darren, we can send you a link right to your phone with all of the website, all the information about the house. If you go to seetucsonhomes.com, on the front page on the right-hand side, there's an orange, orangey colored. Yeah, kind of like that orangey, orangey. It's kind of coral and orange. It says find a home. It's a cute little search box that James made for us. And all you do is type 500,000 minimum, 500,000 max, and that house will pop up because it's $500,000. Woo-hoo! That's easy, right? So that's how you get more information on the Will Bruder house. And Will Bruder is a well-known architect up in Phoenix. We're getting a lot of calls from all over the United States on this house.
It's a great ultra-modern house with beautiful views. Amazing. It's up on the Mount Lemmon Short Road. Yeah. So great space.
Really cool. So we have some fun things going on. We want to talk about too, right? This weekend and next weekend. Absolutely.
If you love fall like I do, you love the fall events. And there's a couple of things that are coming up. First of all, tomorrow is Trumpets and Tequila over at—
sorry, it's Trumpets and Tequila.
It's brunch. It's over at the Playground.
The brunch one.
That sounds great. From 10 to 2.
And I just picture this tequila hangover and these trumpets just ready to go. You're gonna kill yourself.
Okay, so after brunch, there's a great little shop. It's privately owned. Stop by and say hi to Amy Forrest. It's called Perfect Pantry.
Love that little shop. So Amy, it's right next to Johnny Gibson's grocery store. It's in between— oh my gosh, what is Johnny Gibson sitting on? I just drew a blank. But it's right between Congress and Broadway next to Johnny Gibson's. It's just a couple doors down. It's called Perfect Pantry. Amy is the owner. And she's got great candles in there, like soy candles. And she's got one called Black Birch, which is my favorite.
She's got all kinds of stuff. And part of it is vintage retro. There are some hilarious greeting cards, greeting cards, funny things, culinary and kitchen stuff. It's really fun. The holidays are coming. And so shop now. Avoid the rush. Buy local. Yes.
Hi. Say hi to Ed. Hi, Ed. Hey, Ed, we're helping Christy. We really appreciate that referral. She's fun. That's Ed on there. It's up there. Popping up.
Yeah. Woohoo!
Um, so, uh, Perfect Pantry, say hi to Amy, tell her that you saw us— saw her on our show. Yeah, yeah. And love Amy.
Hi, Amy! Also, uh, put it on your calendar, next weekend is the Greek Festival. And if you haven't— if you haven't been to the Greek Festival before, it's a great little event, um, and they have music and dancing and cooking demos and food, beer, wine. It's a lot of fun. If you like Greek food, this is your event. Okay. It's only once a year.
Yeah, once a year. It's a 4-day event, right? Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. But, um, so let's, let's just talk about the elephant in the room. We've waited in lines many times to get into that event and never gotten into the event because we gave up waiting, right? So here's the cool thing. We're under the understanding is that the, the committee on the Greek Festival has done everything this year to fix the problems that people were complaining about, which is like trying to get in the long line. So apparently they have 2 or 3 entrances now to help move people quickly through. And I'm hearing that they have more food, uh, stations so you can actually get to the food because he, like, he'll knock you out of the way. So, you know, but I, I'm more polite.
That's only for the baklava.
Yeah. But so I guess they fixed things to make it bigger and better. Um, so we're excited about that because we're actually going to try to break in there this time.
Yeah, it's supposed to be the new and improved Greek Festival event, and so it's really worth your time to go over and check it out. It's a lot of fun.
Try some new food. So the month of September, we were in Greece all last year with Lucy and our friends in Greece. Hi everybody in Greece! We were kind of— I'm not kind of, I'm really bummed. We were gonna try to make it out there to visit everybody again, but we've been so crazy busy with real estate, we haven't been able to get a vacation. But, uh, we will be back. Our friends in Greece, we love you guys, and, uh, I miss being there. That was an amazing month Yeah, which is amazing.
Those are fantastic. But, um, also I want to tell everybody about the, um, so we did Greek, now what's hot?
I promise something hot.
Something hot. The Chili Festival. So for those of you who didn't get a chance to drive out to Hatch, New Mexico, um, go to the Chili Fest over, uh, starts out at Rito Park. Uh, I'm sorry, it kicks off at Trail Dust Town.
Yeah, it's a Trail Dust Town, which is our favorite little place. They've got some cool shops in there.
Yeah, they do. And that's on Friday next weekend, and then it continues up to the Oro Valley Farmers Market.
Yeah.
And then back on the Rieto Park on Sunday, and they're gonna have live music and food and festival. And get your chili peppers, they'll roast them for you. It's a lot of fun.
And, uh, so this is next weekend, you got to plan this well then. You go to Greek Festival Saturday and then you do Chili Fest on Sunday over at Rieto, because that'll be the bigger— that's like the big— where they have the dancing and the fun stuff for sitting or whatever. They've got guitarist or somebody over there. So go to the festival for chilies on Sunday and then do the Greek thing on Saturday and then recover on Monday. I don't know.
And if you have too much chili—
and if you get— if you buy too many chilies, call me. I mean, I'll take them off your hands. Um, any— okay, so we got something hot and something Greek and, uh, brunch tomorrow. So that's good, right? Money's almost gone. So P2P was wiped out really fast. As of Friday, there was less than $9 million left out of the $48 million. There, if you get a contract in right now and try to reserve it, you possibly could take advantage of the money. But here is a key that I want to give you right now. Don't get hung up on this Pathway to Purchase because we can negotiate, which we just did. We can negotiate a different contract for you where you're still not paying a down payment or closing costs because there's another type of money out there. And it's all about negotiating that contract with the seller and how you write that up. And we just did it, so we, uh, now we know what we're doing. It's very hard. So we can do that for you. Uh, so if you still want to use down payment assistance, you still want to have, uh, get in with as little cost as possible, we are the key. And then, uh, give us a call and, uh, we can get you with the right lender and start working on that process. Okay, that's right. So don't get too scared of the money. See, I don't even have any money. I usually bring the money, it's all gone. I have like this little stack now because you stole all the rest. Um, there is a cool app I want to talk about. Um, the app is called Wink, but first of all, you're going to go— I don't know if you can see that. James is going to help me. Um, yeah, yeah, we're good. So this is a Wink— this is a Link light bulb by GE. These cost about— we paid, I think I got these for $15 over at Home Depot. So here's one of the cool things about these. They have sunlight and cool light, or Midnight or something. I don't know. They got different light bulbs at different variations of light, so they feel differently in the house. I like the daylight one, okay, because it feels good. These bulbs are an LED. They last about 22 years. That's what their expectancy of life. They cost about $1.50 a year to run one of these bulbs, right?
22 years.
The house is sold and gone by the time you finish out this light bulb.
But we're taking the bulbs.
You used to change light bulbs every like year, right, because they blow out. These just last forever. But here's the cool thing. These, you can put like a group of these in your living room, okay? Put a group in the living room and then you can program them on the Wink app, which is wink like wink your eye. And then you—
Mess with your dog?
You can mess with the dog, but you can tell them to dim or go up and down at any time, you know, highlight or dim out. You can program them. So if you're gone every night and you want to come home and have the house lit up, you tell this little guy you want it to turn on at 6 o'clock, right? So you come home and you have lights. Yeah. Oh, vacations— have the lights go off and on while you're on vacation. And the lights could go off and on in different rooms and random times, at random times, and you pick— you schedule them. You can't do that for $15. I was amazed. So we bought the kit, which cost I think $40, which gave me 2 light bulbs and a little teeny plug-in thing, and you plug it in and it all sets itself up. And then anytime you screw a light bulb in, it connects to the— your system, and on your app shows it. And it's just amazing. Technology is cool. So anyways, I promise to, uh, get you out of the dark on technology. That was a pun. Come into the light. These bulbs are rocking. It's Wink is the app, and GE Link. And there's other toys that actually now link up to this thing, but you don't have to spend a ton of money. You can just go that way. What do you think about that? Is that a key?
I think it's awesome. That's the key.
Okay, um, I think we're good, right?
I hope you like the new app today.
Wait, what did you say? Oh, Greek Fest, is that food time? Yes, food.
Hope you enjoyed the Greek Festival and like us.
Yes, like and share. Do we have somebody else there? Vivian. Hey Vivian, I know who, uh, Vivian. I haven't seen Vivian Vivian and I used to work together many years ago. Hello from Waco, Texas.
Woo-hoo! Waco!
So Vivian and I used to work together at Smith's Food and Drug back in the day, and she was the photo expert. Yes. Wow. Yeah, so hi Vivian, it's good to see you. Come visit us. So that's it, right? We're done for the day? We knocked it out? And so now I'm sad because we must part and say goodbye to you. So now we get to use the sad emoji.
So again, how do people contact us?
520-631-8669. That's the phone number. Just call me direct. And the website is ctucsonhomes.com. That's H-O-M-E-S. And we will see you next week.
Yeah.
And you can email both of us on it by our name. So it's Darren@ctucsonhomes.com or Tony Ray Baker at ctucsonhomes.com. Isn't that fun?
That's great.
Have a great day. Enjoy. Be kind out there.
Bye, guys.
Bye.
