Good morning, happy New Year!
Happy New Year!
Happy New Year! Good morning!
Hey, Darren's back from Cuba, can you believe it?
Long live the revolution!
Right?
You did it! Oh, okay, we're out of that one. Luckily we're You got to do like 37 dives or something?
Yeah, it was fantastic. Diving the Gardens of the Queen.
Gardens of the Queen. That's a lot of funny there. Okay, let's get into it. We got some really cool stuff today. We're going to talk about what's going on in downtown, some more cool things happening here, and Michelle's got some really cool stuff happening this weekend and next. And Darren's got an awesome house to show you. And I'm going to start right now with— and we've got Tom, Tommy J behind. That's Tommy J. Is holding the camera today. And Tommy J, if you'll pan up for us and you can show that building that's under construction there, that is the new AC Marriott, and it is supposed to be finished this summer, and we are right behind it. And I wanted to show this to you because we're in the back of Johnny Gibson's grocery store, and behind Johnny Gibson's grocery store is a really cool little— what would you call this bar? It's called, it's called High Wire, but it's a, it's a, it's a very specific type of bar because is it makes, um, like, uh, craft drinks but with, um, what do you call that scientific stuff? Molecular bubbles, molecular, like little tequila balls floating on cotton candy and stuff like that. I'm not kidding.
Pop Rocks.
Yeah, and Pop Rocks are involved in this place. So anyways, there's a really cool, uh, place there called High Wire. And then over to the right in this courtyard is the Independent Distillery. Distillery. And they, um, they have a front entrance. Is that right? That— so that on the front side they also have a little bar on the front. Which is on Broadway, and then they have this entrance which is in this back courtyard. Now on a Friday, Saturday night— Yeah, this is really a brewery. And this courtyard that we're in with Johnny Gibson's right in front of us, all of this courtyard is really busy on Friday, Saturdays because it's like a little party area back here. And it's cool because you can get food and you can get drinks and you can go to High Wire and get vodka and hot sauce and then order oysters from Johnny Gibson's. If you want to do oysters, guys, which are disgusting.
They're awesome, they're amazing. You gotta try it. I know, highly recommended.
So not doing that. Yeah, there's nothing like a flimball and vodka. Okay, so here we go. Can you see that? Is that good? It's a, it's a rendering of the AC Marriott. So that's the rendering of that. Let me put you back. And how many rooms is this supposed to have? Like 79 rooms or something? And a pool top, uh, pool deck on the top in the center. And, um, there we are down there partying, right?
Um, shopping on Fifth Avenue.
That's going to be really cool. We can say we have shopping on Fifth Avenue.
You sound like New York.
Right? We sound like New York.
Exactly. Hey, Connie.
And all of that is— so I'm going to move. So right there where you'll see back there is an alley, and all of this will be a pedestrian area around here. There will be traffic coming in and out of this building to the garage, by the way. But right in here on Friday Saturdays, I think the city is planning on closing that down. So that whole play area back there will be just for pedestrians during Second Saturdays and Friday Saturday nights. So the weekends, it'll be easy to move people around. And I think that's the plan. They're going to close that little section down on the weekends. That's what I've heard so far. Okay, so that's really cool. This is the Marriott coming right now. And then, uh, the buzz is there's a second one coming at the Ronstadt Center with two more, uh, beautiful, um, apartment towers with also a lot of, um, retail and cool stuff over there. But I'm going to show you that at a different date because, uh, Michelle— no, Darin. We're gonna let Darin— he's dying to show you a new listing that we just put on the market.
This is a great Westside home.
Wait a minute, Dennis Johnson has joined and said Happy New Year.
Dennis!
Dennis! Hey, Happy New Year! Come see! Hola, Seattle!
Hola, Seattle!
I'm going to hold these up for you.
Or wherever you are. I'll hold them in the other side.
Yes, yes, Dennis.
Yes, yes. I see that. Sporting a new look, I know.
Yeah, you're looking very dapper, by the way.
Feedback, feedback.
He's pulling the Liam Neeson look right now.
So we've got this great new listing. It's over on the west side. It's on Malo. And look at this. The house is not blue, by the way. This is just a print. But it's a fantastic home. It's a large home. It has lots of great features in it. Amazing panoramic views.
I'm gonna give you one.
It has decks in the back that are like 3 levels. This is a great room, which would be for me the ultimate man cave. But you have room for all of your family, all of your friends, entertainment. Pool table, foosball, table tennis, whatever you're into, your big hobby room.
That one's gone.
Here's the house. It's lit at night. As you can see, it's just a beautiful custom home, meticulously detailed home. These guys take care of this house like nothing you've ever seen. So here's the waterfall.
This is amazing.
It's a 25-foot waterfall that comes down into a catch basin. Which can easily be converted into a hot tub. So imagine that. So lots of fun there.
Apparently I need a horrible van.
We're going to be listing—
hold the papers—
we're going to have all of the information a little bit later on for you to take a look at this house online.
So yeah, yeah, what is this? So it's 4-bedroom, 3-bath with an office, a formal dining, formal living, a great room, an Arizona room to die for, a waterfall in the back with decks to view the city and the mountains.
It's amazing. And 3-car garage. Yeah, it's a beautiful house.
On and over— on over an acre. Yeah, it's like the most flexible, coolest house. Just call right now, 520-631-8669. 631-8669. Look, she's over there.
She ran.
See how she ran? Yeah, she waves at us and then she runs because she doesn't like film. That's Christy, uh, Johnny Gibson's owner. You want to have one of the owners, the lovely, uh, Christy and Paul.
We love her.
We love them. Hi, Johnny Gibson's people. Okay, so beautiful house. Call us, 520-631-8669. We will also post information about this house below this live video, right?
Yes.
All right, so Michelle's just dying to tell us what's going on today. You want us to do the vanna for you? Sure.
Allow me. There, you do it.
Oh wait, I need this. I need this.
She'll do that.
All right. So fun things to do in Tucson. Today we have the Home and Garden Show at the TCC, so please go down and check it out. It's a great way to get new ideas and different things that you want to add to your house.
That's today and tomorrow.
Today and tomorrow, that's right. It is. Yeah, last night I guess is too late, right?
Yeah, last night's too late. So just today and tomorrow.
Do we know times, or is that on the website?
On the website, yeah. All right, how do you get to that website?
Oh, you have to go to seetucsonhomes.com. Amazing website. Go to click on things to do and you will see everything to do in Tucson— I'm just highlighting the best things right now for this weekend. We have Trumpets of Tequila Sunday brunch at The Playground today or tomorrow, excuse me. And then we had Butterfly Magic at the Botanical Gardens done tonight.
Vanna! Butterfly magic!
Now this is a beautiful place. What's amazing about this that I love is when you go in, the butterflies actually like to get on you. So if you ever wanted to have a butterfly come join you or be on your shoulder, highly recommend going to this place. It is fun. Beautiful. Yeah, and you get to see all kinds of different colors.
You have to stay very still and they land on you.
It's really—
they like your, uh, perfume, I— from what I understand, something if you smell good. So if you don't take a shower, you may not attract them.
That's all. And you have to be real careful because when you have flowy things on, they like to grab onto it and you could actually take them out, which probably wouldn't be a good idea.
Yeah, they don't let you take out butterflies. You have to be very careful. There's a double door thing.
Yeah, but it's great. I highly recommend check that out.
Fun experience.
Yes, totally. Next week we have a Second Saturday Downtown, which is amazing. Definitely come down and check that out. That's between 2 and 8 PM. Does that go later?
Well, so they started new hours for the Second Saturdays. Always in the winter they start earlier because it's warmer and it gets dark, and so they start at 2 now for Second Saturdays, and then they go to about 8 o'clock, and then the vendors will shut down. And then of course all the clubs and bars and all the fun stuff that's happening continues on. So it doesn't end.
Okay, that's what I was thinking. It's still fun to do.
A lot of people here till 2 in the morning. Not us, of course, because that just wouldn't be right. We're in bed by 10. I don't know, I can't stay up that late. But mom, I'm in bed. And, uh, someone's giving me weird eyes over there.
So we have, we have the TAR Soccer Shootout competition. Now that sounds like fun.
It's a soccer shootout sponsored by the Tucson Association of REALTORS®. That's us, right? Yeah, so they do the soccer shootout every year. I think it's at Kino Sports Complex this time, and it's a competition. Uh, and I—
but go to the website, see Tucsonhomesite.com, click on things to do, and you can get there.
You can get there. It's all there.
Yeah. And then we have the Tucson Japanese Festival.
There's the rabbit. Okay, Japanese Festival. We just like the logo. It's pretty.
Yeah, isn't that beautiful?
It's the year of the rabbit.
It's the year of the rabbit. Oh, that's why.
Yeah, hello.
I'm making that up. I'm making that up. Google it. No, it is right. Is this— okay, yeah, okay, I guessed right.
Okay, I think you're right. Little bunny.
Oh well, anyway, go check it out. It looks amazing. And then we have the Transportation Museum, which is next to Maynard's, and they're having free movies, Disney movies this time. It starts at 4:30, all the activities, and the movies start at 5:30. Um, and it's princess. It is princess movies, so definitely go check that out.
That's on second Saturday.
That is on Second Saturdays next Saturday.
So every second Saturday, the museum over by Maynard's will have 4:30 kids activities, and then they have a movie. Yeah, yeah, then they have a movie. And it's a really cool place because there's fun things to do for those kids.
Lots of fun things, and I'm assuming all ages.
So, and adults can go over to the Maynard's restaurant, and there's a little market, and there's, um, great food there and a nice area out in back where the train goes by.
And very fun, just check out that part of town.
Yeah, it's a— and it's a little more high-end, that restaurant. It's really nice.
Oh, very cool.
Hello to Kenny Parker. Kenny Parker! And, uh, the, um, the little market's really cool in there too, cuz you get juice and little snacks and stuff like that.
Oh, very cool. Yeah, so take—
you haven't been in a Maynard's? You need to go into the remodeled train station.
I haven't— I have actually been, but it's been a while. Since I've been.
There's so much down in downtown, so much. This year there's a lot. Yeah, there's the AC Marriott, woohoo, case in point, coming this summer. Um, there's like 6 new towers I think that'll start this year, and I, I say towers but like 6 to 8 stories. But those are— I think there's 6 underway that I know of. So there— we'll have to do a show on just planned development coming into the area.
It's becoming a proper downtown, which is so awesome. Like, you come down here and the energy is different every day and every moment. It's wonderful.
It really is. So, um, cool tech tip. So over Christmas, I, uh, was out a couple times, uh, in the downtown area actually while you were in Cuba with friends. And it was interesting because one of the things I noticed was some of the girls that I was out with would go up to the bar, or the server would say, do you want to open a tab? And they would take their charge card. And so I want to tell you a cool tech tip because a lot of times people get a little antsy about leaving their card because they forget it, maybe have a glass of wine and walk away, and then they have to come back and get their card.
Plus the bar charges a fee for that.
Yeah. And so you gotta close your tab. So if you have an iPhone, and I don't know if this works on Android, so I apologize, I'm an iPhone user. I don't apologize for that, I love my iPhone. But here's one of the cool things about the iPhone is you say, "Hey Siri," I wish I had a phone. Do you have a phone? So you go, "Hey Siri." Hi phone. So just say to Siri, go, "Hey Siri, remind me when I leave here to take my credit card." And as soon as you get 50 feet away from the building, Siri will come on and tell you to get your credit card. Awesome! Isn't that neat? So there's your trick, your tech. Oh, there you go. You just say, "Hi Siri." So you can talk to that phone. You want another one? It's really fun.
Yeah.
Yeah, you just say, "Hey Siri, remind me to—"
