How Coaches Will Get Clients in 2027 (Without Posting Every Day)

Trena Little says coaches should stop posting daily on social media and focus on YouTube, Google AI platforms, and email instead. YouTube leads convert at 30% versus 10% from Instagram. She recommends one evergreen video per week, optimized for ready-to-buy viewers, using a 1.5-hour workflow to script, film, and edit.

In 2027, the coaches with the most consistent clients aren't going to be the coaches that are posting every single day to social media. And I'm not saying that because I hate Instagram. I say this because of what is actually happening on social media right now. And it's not just a vibe. I've got data to back up what I'm going to share with you. Social media is currently filling up with AI content or AI slop, basically. So trust is really diminishing over there. And people who are actually looking to invest in a coach or in a consultant or in a VIP service. They're not scrolling social media to find who they should invest in. They're searching in specific ways. So I wanna tell you exactly where your next potential client will be searching in 2027, what I call the search triangle, and what your week could possibly look like if you stop feeding the feed machine. And I'm gonna show you exactly what my week looks like when it comes to content creation down to the minute. Let's first address what your audience is currently experiencing on social media. Sprout Social surveyed consumers in early 2026. 56% of those surveyed say they see AI slop often or very often on their feed. Half of Gen Z have unfollowed, muted, or blocked accounts because they felt like it was AI generated. And 2/3 of people say they're more selective about what they engage with now on social media than they were a year ago. And a study by Gartner found about half of US consumers now prefer to buy from brands that don't use generative AI in their content. But the thing is, one detection study scanned over a million social media posts this summer and flagged about 1 in 4 of those posts were AI-generated. Actually, they flagged it that it was fully AI-written. So think about this: if you're a coach marketing on Instagram, to even get seen now, you're competing with people pumping out AI content at a volume you cannot match as a human that's running a business and who also has a family. And the harder you push to up, even if you're using AI to help you keep up, the more and more your content starts to look like AI slop. And when that starts to happen, your potential buyer, your potential customers' trust in you drops significantly. Honestly, this is one reason why I tried to go all in with Instagram in August as a test, but I found I couldn't keep up with the amount or the volume that I had to be posting, and I started to fall more and more into AI to help me. And then one of the core ethics that I have in my business is that I will not let AI AI-written captions happen. And what I was finding was for me to just get a piece of content up every day, I was starting to slip into letting AI write a little bit more, a little bit more. And so I decided to completely pull the plug on Instagram for now, because if I can't hold up to my standards and what I believe I want to put on Instagram, I've got to just not do Instagram. But getting back on track here, the thing we really need to come to realize is that our potential next client for our coaching program, our consulting, isn't on Instagram looking to hire a coach anyways. She's in that short-form content that doomscroll to be entertained or pass time. Nobody is scrolling Instagram or Reels or TikTok thinking, I hope I find somebody I can invest $5,000 in for a coaching program. So where does she actually go when she is ready to invest? Because that's the only place your marketing really needs to live. When somebody is about to invest a big chunk of money in a program, a mastermind, a coach, she researches. And in 2026, even going into 2027, that search is happening in 3 major places: Google AI platform, like ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, and YouTube. And that's what I call the search triangle. And this is the part that should really change how you're spending your time on what content. YouTube is the only platform that hits all corners of this search triangle. Because when you're asking ChatGPT and Claude and Gemini who to hire, YouTube has now become the number one cited source by most AI platforms. About 23% of every citation in Google's AI overview is YouTube. And then if you just think about YouTube itself, people go to YouTube, start typing in the problem that they're having, and they're getting handed this solution, building trust, listening to people that they ultimately realize, that's who I want to work with, that's who I want to have help solve my problem. Your Instagram posts, your Threads posts, your podcasts are not living in any of these corners in the search triangle. And this is what I mean by creating evergreen and evermore content. Evergreen content is a YouTube video that never expires. Because the algorithm will keep pushing good content to the right people. A video I publish this month answers the same buyer question next month, next year even. An Instagram post is done after about 48 hours, so the Instagram post that you published Monday morning is doing nothing for you by the following Monday, let alone 6 months from now. And evermore, because that video now sits in that search triangle and it keeps sending you leads evermore, whether you show up that week or you take a few weeks off. I was off Instagram for entire year in 2025. I focused on just publishing one YouTube video a week that year. Ended up having my best year ever, not revenue-wise, but profit margin, time spent, and actually not being so stressed in my business and overwhelmed with the biggest thing we all have a problem with— content creation. In fact, let me know down in the comments how you feel about content creation on a scale of 1 to 5. 1 meaning you loathe it, you hate it. 5 meaning you love it. Let me know where you're at down in the comments. Now, you also may be thinking, well, Trena, because of AI, will people actually be buying coaching programs or masterminds in 2027? I did some research because I want to give you the real numbers and not just throw out what I think, because this might be the most reassuring data of this entire video. The coaching industry as a whole generated about $5.3 billion last year, and that's according to the International Coaching Federation's global study. In 2023, it was a $2.8 billion industry. That's nearly doubling from 2023 to 2025. And this is during the years that AI was exploding. So while everybody was worrying that ChatGPT was gonna replace coaches and masterminds, people bought more coaching and masterminds than at any point in history. And it makes complete sense when you start to look at how people are using AI. Nearly 3/4 of Americans use AI regularly now. Curious, which AI is your favorite? Let me know in the comments. Is it ChatGPT? Is it Claude? I'm just curious. I wanna get a sense of the room here. Okay, so 2/3 of the United States population is using AI regularly now, but when it comes to high-stakes decisions, only about 14% of those people fully trust AI to give them the right choice. Almost 80% of people say they prefer dealing with a human over AI, and the pattern across every study is the same. People use AI to research, then they hire a human to help them decide and change. AI made information free, which is great, which is why I believe just a standalone course anymore I don't think it's impossible anymore, but AI has made standalone courses a little bit more difficult to sell because information has never been more cheaper. I'm not saying it's impossible. I'm not saying courses are dead. I'm just saying it makes it a little bit more difficult to sell. But AI made human judgment about your particular situation scarcer and more valuable than it's ever been before. People are now valuing knowing they can get human eyes on their work. They can get a human to truly understand their business. That is something AI cannot generate for them. It doesn't matter what you call it— coaching, consulting, advisement, a mentorship, a done-with-you program— call it whatever you want. The offer that's going to continue selling in 2027 is a human helping a human. So the question is not whether people will pay you because of AI, it's whether people already searching can find you. Which brings us back to that search triangle again. And before you go watch a bunch of different YouTube tutorials on how to start a YouTube channel or how to create YouTube videos, I need to update you on something because most YouTube advice is stuck in 2019 or is created specifically for YouTubers, people who want to go viral, who want the massive YouTube channels. So for one, you're not going to find the perfect keywords for your titles anymore and shove as many of those keywords as possible in a title. That's just not how YouTube works anymore. When you go open up YouTube on your homepage, YouTube is handing you the videos it already thinks you want to watch because what is YouTube's goal? To keep you on the platform. So it's going to give you what it thinks you want to watch so you stay there. In fact, on one of my most recent videos, about 70 to 80% of the views that I got on that video came from the YouTube homepage. The algorithm's recommendation drives the majority of my watch time on the platform, which means the game in 2027 isn't keywords. And it kind of ties back into AI, right? You need to be creating content that a human will click on, particularly your ready-to-buy viewer will click on, somebody who is actively looking for a coach to solve a specific problem that they have. And so you are going to be able to get your video pushed to more of those people who are ready to buy your program when you train the algorithm who is the best person to watch your content. And that comes down to 2 things: picking a topic that your ready-to-buy viewer is searching for and packaging it with your title and thumbnail so that your ready-to-buy viewer will actually click on it. You do not need to go viral on YouTube to fill a coaching program or a membership or a mentorship, whatever you're selling. In fact, I deleted over 54 videos on my channel this summer, and majority of those 54 videos were the videos that went viral on my channel. And they were driving the wrong people to my channel, and it confused the algorithm for who to send me, and it slowed down my momentum to my coaching program because I wasn't getting the right people watching my videos. Because listen to this clearly: a video that gets found by 200 of the right people beats a video that gets 200,000 of the wrong people that are never going to buy from you. So you need to really understand what your— what I call Expert Esther— is searching on Google, on AI, on YouTube, and you need to package it for your ready-to-buy viewer. So I created a custom GPT called the Who's Watching GPT. It's going to ask you some questions and then you plug in your title idea and it's going to tell you, is this going to attract expert Esthers? Are you going to bring beginner Bettys who are never going to buy from you and YouTube's going to keep sending you these beginner Bettys? I highly encourage you to check that out before you post another video. You can get it for totally free at trenalittle.com/whoswatching. So let me explain now what your content creation week looks like when you focus on one YouTube video, because this has been the majority of my weeks in my business over the the last 18 months to create one YouTube video. And let me explain, I timed it. It took me about 15 to 20 minutes to script a video. I have a specific template that I use, and then I have specific skills in Claude where I will talk out my entire YouTube video. So nothing in this YouTube video is AI generated from nothing. It all comes from everything that I want to say. I have AI help me pull some of the statistics specifically that I shared here and also help me like organize it in a way that flows and makes sense. So everything here is what I spoke into AI. So that took me about 15 to 20 minutes. Then I sat in my car at my son's golf practice. It took me about 17 minutes to film that video. I did one round of editing that video and it took me 21 minutes. I did a second round of editing where I added a little bit of text. I added a little bit of personality with my GIFs. And after doing that, it took me a total of 40 minutes to edit a YouTube video. And I'll link to that YouTube video up here so you can check it out. But that was my one piece of content a week. That will work for me months from now. So if you think about it, let's say 20 minutes plus another 20, that's 40, plus another 40, that's under an hour and a half for creating sales assets on a YouTube channel that will not expire within 48 hours. This allows you to focus on other marketing strategies. This allows you to serve your clients more and better and get better results. This allows you to take Fridays off and have a schedule that fits with your personal life and what you want to do. This also allows me to easily I email my email list 2 to 3 times a week to keep them engaged, to continue to share value with them, because your email list is honestly the most valuable resource that you have. And if you aren't emailing them, giving them value, building trust with them, when the time comes to make an ask to buy your next course or join your next coaching program, you're not going to have them warmed up to want to do that. And then Instagram becomes optional to you. You can use it as a nurture tool. You don't have to get very specific about strategy. Maybe you just get on stories a couple times a week sharing what you're doing, building nurturing relationship with your audience because the conversion data told me the facts. Traffic from my YouTube channel, from any of my YouTube videos, when I get it to a lead magnet, a sales page, anything like that, converts at 30%. Instagram traffic to those pages convert at 10%. Same kind of content I'm talking about, same offer, but a 3 times higher conversion rate. So if you've only got 2 hours to create content this week, why wouldn't you put them into YouTube? Like, let me know, why wouldn't you put your time into YouTube? Down in the comments section. I'm honestly curious because that's your entire week of content. One YouTube video, one or 2 emails, and you're building an audience on YouTube and you're keeping them warm in your email list. Now I want to give you some math here because I really want this to hit home. The first thing we need to realize is you have to be creating content to grow an audience that's going to continue booking you clients. Let's just face the fact, right? You have to put gas in the car for it to move forward. Your business is your car. Your gas is your content. So we have to be creating content. No its, ands, or buts about it. But when you think about how do you want to pay for that gas? If you're gonna post 5 reels a week on Instagram for the entire year, that's about 260 pieces of content. Now, with YouTube converting at a much higher rate, you create just one YouTube video a week, that's just 52 videos that can work for you the next year as well. I've done a whole month of Instagram, and I will tell you, coming up with those content ideas, filming those reels, editing those reels takes me just as much time as my YouTube content. And I get better results because YouTube does more for me than Instagram could ever do in bringing me a new audience. But the piece of YouTube here, because maybe we're thinking, yes, I need to do YouTube. Maybe you watched my video last week where I showed you all of the gurus are now jumping into YouTube. Here's the piece you need to remember. You can 100% waste your time on YouTube. I'm here to tell you that. So there are 2 filters you need to take your video through before you create any content for YouTube. First, would my buyer, my future client, be searching this in YouTube Google AI before she's ready to hire me? And second, does this video build the case for what I'm selling? And I'm going to add a little bonus filter here because I'm all about creating sales assets of YouTube videos. So the third thing you want to think about, will this video still be true a year from now? If your video isn't passing those 3 questions, those 3 filters, it's honestly like a reel, a content treadmill video just with a YouTube costume on it. So your assignment this week, your challenge from me, run your last 5 content content ideas through those filters, even if it's a reel, and then get one better. Ask yourself this: what is one thing my buyer searches right before she's ready to invest in me? So think about all those people that are coming to work with you. What do they say is the reason they decided to work with you, or why did they want you to help them with what problem? Because you don't need social media in 2027 if you don't want to be on it. You just need one right video a week on YouTube because that's going to live where people are actually searching and researching where to invest. Now in my next video, I want to share with you why coaches are posting to YouTube aren't booking clients or aren't getting clients as quickly as they want because just posting a YouTube video is not the strategy. So I'm going to show you the difference on real channels on this video coming up.
