The video provides a step‑by‑step instructional walkthrough of managing customer records in the Gas Engineer Software web portal. The presenter demonstrates how to locate a customer via the Customers list and search bar, then use the Delete button, which actually archives (soft‑deletes) the customer rather than permanently removing data. Viewers learn that they can optionally archive or retain associated job addresses, jobs, and appliances by checking corresponding boxes. After archiving, the customer disappears from the active list. To restore, the user switches to the Archived tab, selects the customer, and clicks the Restore button, optionally unarchiving related records. The process concludes with the customer reappearing in the active customers list. The tutorial emphasizes that deletion is non‑destructive and reversible.

In this quick video, I'm going to show you how to delete and restore a customer in Gas Engineer Software. To start, head to the web portal, which we have open here, and click on your customers list from the top navigation menu. This will show you a list of all the customers currently in your system. To find the one you need, you can quickly search for their name using the search bar in the top right corner. Once you've found your customer, click on their name to open it up. On this page, there is a delete option in the right-hand side menu bar. Note that in Gas Engineer Software, you cannot completely delete a customer's details, so don't worry about accidentally doing so. Rather, clicking on this Delete button archives the customer. Since the customer might have several job addresses, jobs, and appliances stored underneath their profile, you can choose whether to delete or keep those by checking, checking these boxes as necessary. In this example, we're just going to leave them all unticked. If we click Yes, this customer will be archived in your system. Heading back to the customers list, you'll see that if we search for that same customer, they won't appear. If we wanted to restore a previously deleted customer, all we have to do is click on the Archived tab over here, and we'll find that customer in that list. Clicking on that name again opens up the page, and in place of the Delete button, we now have a Restore button. The same popup appears, except instead of Archive, everything is unarchived. We can now choose to unarchive the relevant job addresses, jobs, and appliances. If we check all those, then everything will be restored. Clicking Yes completes the action, and now if we go back to our customers list, if we go back to our existing customers, we'll be able to see that customer in our current list. So it's as simple as that.
