#1 Success Secret: How to Make Big Moves & Go After Your Goals
1 Sept 2021 · 14 min
In this episode of the Makeshift Happen podcast, host Samantha Daly opens with an emotional reaction to the show's recent chart achievements—reaching #80 in the U.S. education category, #55 in Canada self‑improvement, and #7 in Australia self‑improvement on Apple Podcasts. She expresses deep gratitude to her listeners, highlighting the community’s role in the podcast’s rapid growth. The episode then transitions into a motivational monologue centered on the core principle that "being ready" is a choice, not a feeling. Daly argues that waiting for perfect alignment stalls progress, and that fear, doubt, and uncertainty are inevitable companions to growth. She uses a maze metaphor to illustrate why taking action (putting the pen to the page) accelerates learning and success, encouraging listeners to embrace risk, bet on themselves, and view failures as valuable information. Mid‑episode, a brief promotional segment advertises the "Sold Out Stories" program, promising high‑converting Instagram Story frameworks for premium buyers. The episode concludes with a rallying call to choose readiness now, act despite fear, and trust that the universe will align with bold action.

Okay, I'm literally shaking right now. I can't even just believe that this is happening. Like, I just had to come run upstairs from the pool and plug in my microphone and record this reaction because I knew that I wanted to share it with you. I had to share it with the podcast community. And yeah, I'm just like, ah, I'm so over the moon and just like so excited and in disbelief, but also in this weird form of like inner knowing of like, yes, I knew it. So to give you some context, I just was randomly like, I get these emails that give me updates about how the podcast is doing and, you know, how many episodes were listened to last week and how it's charting and everything. And sometimes I look into them and sometimes I just don't because I just miss them in my inbox that week. And then I know that they're gonna come again next week and I just don't pay that much attention to it. Too often, but I was sitting down at the pool doing my emails and looking through my inbox, and I saw this message letting me know about my updates with how the podcast is charting. And so I was like, hmm, okay, let's look into that and actually see how we're going with the podcast.
Holy moly, this is so cool.
Sorry that I just accidentally started playing a voice message from my coach responding to this. Anyway, I decided to look into it and just see how we're doing and how we're going. And what come to find out, I first saw where we're charting in the United States. This is all on Apple Podcasts because Apple Podcasts is the largest platform. It's where the majority of listeners tune into podcasts, um, all podcasts and also mine. So more than 50 or even 60%, I think, of the listeners who are listening to this right now will be listening on Apple Podcasts. So, um, um, just checking those charts because that's a really, uh, a good standard to work from. So I'm looking at the Apple Podcast charts and the first thing that comes up is the US. And I, unbeknownst to me, in the month of August, charted number 80 in all of the United States of America on Apple Podcasts. In the genre of education. So the podcasts are ranked by genre because if you have like a history show or a technology show or something else, it's not gonna be measured up against other shows that are in other categories, um, that are irrelevant or just totally different. So you get measured against the other shows within your category. So my categories are education and self-improvement. So in the US, my peak position on the chart was number 80. In August of 2021, like number freaking 80 in all of the podcasts that exist in education in the United States of America. Do you know how many podcasts there are? There's freaking millions of podcasts. Like, so I was sitting there, right? And I'm like, holy shit, holy shit, holy shit, top 100. Like, I'm in the top 100 in the US of podcasts.
Like, holy shit.
So then I'm like, okay, let's see like what other countries, cuz I know there's other countries that listen to the show. And just out of curiosity, like have we made any significant marks on the charts in other countries? So I look up Canada, um, because yeah, I know that I have some listeners in Canada. Shout out to you guys. And my chart position in Canada in the genre of self-improvement is 55, number 55. So then I really start like pooping my pants. I'm like, oh my gosh, are you kidding me? This is so crazy. So I'm like, okay, wait, wait, wait, wait. I know I have so many listeners in Australia. Shout out to all my Australian listeners, love you. So I'm like, let's see where we are in Australia because I think actually it's very close between Australia and the US, but I think there's a slight majority of listeners in Australia, which is really interesting. So I look up Australia, you guys, Number 7. Number freaking 7. 7. Number 7 in all of Australia for self-improvement podcasts. My mind was blown. I was just like, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow, wow. This little idea, this little podcast that I started in my bedroom that I still record for you guys every single week in my bedroom. I just sit here and I plug in my mic and I speak from my heart and I share the lessons that have come through in my life. And I talk to my friends and I share those conversations with you all, like, and it's working and it's working and it's making an impact. And I think even more like numbers are numbers and they're beautiful to see and they're a beautiful form of this like recognition. But even, even more than the numbers— oh my God, I did not think I was going to get emotional about this— even more than the numbers is just, you know, the messages that you guys send me all the time about how much the show has really helped you and impacted you and helped you change your mindset and manifest incredible things in your life and stand up for yourself and live authentically and be in your truth and ask for what you want. And, you know, make moves in your career and relationships. And like, I'm just so grateful for you and for this community and for all of you that like sit here with me every week and tune in and listen and share this space. Like, I could not be more grateful. So you guys were the first people that I knew I needed to share this with, so I ran upstairs and I plugged in my mic and I was like, I have to tell them because this is, you know, obviously this is a really cool like accomplishment for me. I feel really proud of myself. You know, the podcast is just over a year old. We're still very young. We're still just getting started. But this is obviously only possible because of you all, because of you that tune in every single week. And you know, you send the podcast to your friends or you share it to your Instagram stories. You talk about it. You recommend it to people, you write reviews on Apple Podcast. Um, it's all because of you guys. So I am so, so eternally grateful, and I love you all so much. And I just wanted to thank you for being part of a— the movement to increase the consciousness on this planet and B, for supporting me in my journey and allowing me to have these dreams come true. So just wanted to say thank you. I hope you enjoy this week's episode. I am bringing you a short and fiery motivational little rant, so if you need a fire under your bum about how to make your dreams come true, how to get started, how to know when you're ready to start something new or big or scary or make a change, this episode is for you. How do we know when we're ready? That's the question. How do we know when when we're ready to ask for a raise, quit a job, pursue a business idea, become a parent, any of these crazy big things in life, how to know when you're actually ready. I wanna share this nugget of wisdom with you because it has changed so much for me in my life and my experience. And this piece of wisdom is that being ready is never going to be a feeling. It's a choice. Ready is not a feeling. It's a choice. And so often we're waiting to feel ready to take these big leaps and make changes in our lives or, you know, make decisions that may impact us financially, emotionally, spiritually, you know, moving to a new place, breaking up with a partner, asking someone out on a date, asking for a raise, quitting a job, pursuing a creative idea or a side hustle. We're so often waiting to know when is the best moment, when are we going to be ready? Even with something like investing money, whether it's in yourself or it's in stocks or whatever, like we're always constantly waiting. When am I gonna be ready? I don't know if I've saved enough. I don't know if I know enough. Gosh, that's a big one that holds us back is feeling like we don't know enough to start yet. With relationships, we so often stay longer than we're meant to stay. I'm sure if any of you have ever had a relationship that ended, you would probably agree that you stuck around a little bit longer than you probably needed to because it's hard for us to figure out when we're actually going to be ready. When is the right time? When is the perfect time? You know, waiting for everything to be in a row, making sense, organized, on track, whatever it is, right? We're always just constantly kind of waiting for the right time to do things. And the truth is, what I've just shared with you is that being ready is never going to be a feeling. You're never going to wake up and be like, wow, I'm ready to take really big risks. And invest tons of money in my business. Wow, I'm so ready today. Now I feel like everything is perfectly aligned for me to become a parent. Let's try to have a baby now because finances are perfect and our home is perfect and our car is perfect and everything is just perfect, perfect, perfect. So let's start a family, right? Like, that's never gonna happen. But so all of us are, are doing these things eventually, somehow, in some way without being ready. Because the thing is, being ready is a choice, right? We choose to be ready. It's not a feeling. You're not going to tune in or wake up one day and just feel, "Now's the moment. Now's the time to pursue this idea. Now's the time to invest that money. Now's the time to take the leap. Today feels like a perfect day to quit my job. I just, you know, I just feel like it's just It's just right today. It's just right. Sometimes we have to come to the understanding that it's never going to fully feel right because it's going to be scary. Whether you decide to do it today or tomorrow or 2 months from now or 2 years from now, it's going to scare you shitless because if it's something that promotes growth growth, upleveling, a lot of times there's pain, uncertainty, um, this feeling of, of just the unknown involved. So often when we're doing something that we're making a choice that is going to push us further into our next level and really grow us and expand us and stretch us in some way, there's going to be fear, there's going to be doubt, there's going to be uncertainty, and that shit is not gonna go away no matter how long you wait, no matter how much money you save or how much work you do or how much knowledge you acquire. It's not gonna go away. It's always gonna be there. And so the only way that you get to speed up the process of getting closer to your dream life is by being willing to be scared and do it anyway, right? It's like that saying of feeling the fear and just doing it anyway and deciding that you're ready. Not that you're ready because you feel fully, totally fine and happy and great and there's no worries, but ready because you're ready for risk, because you're ready to put skin in the game, because you're ready to step forward in this bold way and claim what it is that you actually desire and say, this is my dream, this is what I want, this is what I feel that I'm worth, this is what I feel that I deserve, and I'm here to claim it. I'm proclaiming it to the universe by taking this action, by doing this thing, by using my voice, by investing in myself, whatever it is, right? That's the only way that you get closer.
Okay, so I have something I think you're really gonna love, and your business is gonna love it even more. Do you want to steal the strategy I've been using to seduce premium buyers and sell out my offers on Instagram Stories? Chances are you're already posting, you're already making sales, but if your Instagram Stories aren't working as hard as you are, you're leaving money on the table. Sold Out Stories is going to teach you exactly how to change that so that you can sell out any offer at any price point. And even high-caliber coaches miss this because selling on stories isn't about how much you post or how frequently you show up face to camera. It's about psychological sequencing and the way you're posting right now might be giving the premium buyers in your audience the ick. Documenting your day and hoping it builds trust, posting look at me content and calling it authority, sharing client wins as soon as they drop in instead of strategically weaving them into a story selling sequence designed to drive demand and convert sales. We both know that you're not here to learn how to show up more. You're here because you know your content could be converting faster and more effectively. Sold Out Stories is gonna give you 5 high-converting story selling frameworks built specifically for premium buyer psychology. Inside, you'll get over 6 hours of deep dive video trainings, real IG story breakdowns, and live walkthroughs that show you exactly how to elevate your slides from authority building all the way to offer flow in less than 10 slides. My clients have already been using these frameworks to pull 5-figure sales days while posting less. One client generated 14 premium leads from a single story sequence. Another sold out her event in under 6 hours with just 8 strategic story slides. No sales calls, no paid ads, just the right frameworks. You'll walk away knowing how to sequence for desire, transition into your offer seamlessly, and sell daily without ever feeling salesy. You already know your offer's incredible, so now it's just time for your stories to sell it like it is. Grab Sold Out Stories today and turn 10 slides or less into your highest converting content. Let's make your next Story, your most profitable one yet. Click the link in the show notes below and I'll see you inside.
And the more that you do that, this is the cool part, the more that you do that, the easier that it becomes, right? It's never going to be easy peasy lemon squeezy. There's always going to be that level of doubt, fear, uncertainty, because every new level of your life is going to require another level of scary action, another level of risk, another level of investment. And that will feel unknown to you, right? That'll be uncharted territory. So again, there will be fear and doubt and uncertainty, but you will have the knowing and the programming within your mind now that you are capable of moving through that experience, that you've done this before, you've survived this before. You know that this is a thing that creates growth and expansion for you. So here we go. I'm saddling up. I'm ready to do this. I'm ready to take these risks and take these leaps. Yeah. The more that you practice betting on yourself, the easier it gets to bet on yourself, and you begin to trust yourself more deeply and know that when I make big life decisions, or, you know, I choose things for myself, or I stand boldly in my truth, I invest in myself. I go after my goals and my dreams, my desires. When I do that, I'm still safe. Yeah, I don't let myself down. I figure it out. I find a way. Because that's the truth, right? Is that you're going to find a way, aren't you? You always have. You always will. What if it doesn't work out? This is the question that holds us all back, right? What if it doesn't work out? What if I break up with this person and then I totally regret it and they were my soulmate and I fucked it up and it's all a big mess? Or what if I quit this job and then I don't find another one and then I'm, you know, unemployed forever and I have to move back in with my parents and it's a whole big mess and I have no money and I can't pay my bills? And what if I invest in myself or my business and this idea doesn't work and it fails and I don't get clients and I don't make money? And right, what if it doesn't work out is always one of the major fears that holds us back. And there's probably been things in your life that haven't necessarily worked out before. So you can go back and ask yourself, well, what did I do then? And the answer is, in some way, shape, or form, is that you figured it the fuck out. Because that's the only option we have, right? When we're placed in a position where we're like, shit, this isn't really working out, this doesn't feel aligned, I'm not sure that this is what I actually wanted it to be, we make the next decision, we make the next move, we follow our heart, we listen to our intuition. Yeah, we have intelligence, we know what to do, we figure it out, we find our way, we follow the path, we move forward, we move on, and we learn a lesson. Most importantly, we learn a lesson, right? Every time something doesn't work out, rather rather than feeling like we failed, what's actually happening is we're learning really important information about what doesn't work or what we don't like or what's no longer aligned for us or what we're no longer able to tolerate. And we get to move forward with that information. We get to make the next choice, the next, the next decision based on that new information. And the truth is we probably needed that experience in order to cultivate that information. We wouldn't have had that information had we not had the experience that was a failure or something that didn't work out, right? So also, even if it doesn't work out, it's not a failure, and it's also not a waste of time because it's a guided, divinely guided step on your path for you to get more information, for you to take the next divinely guided step, for you to go even more into alignment. To get even closer to what's going to create this ultimate sense of fulfillment and like you're living your dream life. I hope this is making sense for you guys. Nothing is a waste of time. Nothing is a failure as long as you learn something. All of our experiences are designed to teach us something and to give us really important information so that we can take that and move forward with it. So if you failed in the past, what have you learned from that? And maybe the story that you're telling yourself is that I, you know, I've failed before, or I've let myself down before, so I'm afraid to do this again, right? But as long as you're able to take a learning and a knowing from that previous experience, you get to cultivate that sense of self-trust by betting on yourself again, by making big decisions and taking bold action once again and seeing how you actually do always have your, your, your back. You're always going to have your back. You're always going to know what to do. You're going to be able to figure it out. So throwing out that fear of what if it doesn't work out, because what if it doesn't work out is really just an ego thought holding you back from the thing that you feel divinely guided towards. Because it feels expansive, it feels exciting, it feels right, it feels aligned. Yeah. So I just wanted to send this message to you all today that ready is never going to be a feeling. You're never going to wake up, not today, not tomorrow, not 2 weeks from now, not 2 years from now, and just feel like you're finally ready to do the thing. You're as ready now as you will be in 2 months, in 2 years. But it's a matter of you being able to decide that you trust yourself enough to choose this moment to be ready, to choose today to be ready. Yeah, you just gotta start. And there's this really beautiful analogy— metaphor, I guess— that I used with some of my clients a little while back that, that really clicked. And it's this idea of a maze. You know those mazes that are in like the newspaper and we used to do as kids in school? You have to kind of draw, use your pencil and find your way out of the maze. And life is, is so much like a maze because we don't know exactly where the destination is. A lot of times we don't know exactly where we're going. We don't know what exactly is going to bring us that sense of fulfillment. But we keep kind of being guided and going down these different twists and turns and, and reimagining and refiguring out, figuring it out as we go. So the people that get to the end of the maze, and if we say the end of the maze is, you know, this, this feeling of a full, juicy, fulfilled life, the people that get to the end of the maze the fastest are the people that just put the pen down and just start drawing. And they hit a wall and they're like, oh, this is a dead end, fuck, okay, go back, do this, do that, do that. But ultimately they get to the end faster than the majority of the people, the majority of the population, which sit and stare at the paper and look at the maze for a really long time trying to figure out just with their eyes What is the best, shortest, fastest route to get to my fulfillment, to get to the exit? When in actuality, if you would just put the pen down and start exploring all the ways that don't work, you would see, you would be revealed the path that does work so much faster. So are you sitting and looking at the page and trying to suss out all the details and figure out what is the fastest way to ultimately get to this place. I don't want to make any mistakes, so I'm just gonna wait until I start. Or are you someone that's willing to just start, to just put the pen to the page and start drawing? Because that is the fastest route, you know, the fastest way to get to whatever it is that you're desiring is is to speed up the rate at which you fail, is to be willing to run into those walls, to run into those dead ends in the maze, and just turn around and keep on going. Take that lesson, integrate that learning. Yep, okay, that didn't work, didn't like that, didn't feel aligned. Sweet, moving on, new path, new idea, right? Also, you'd never get new ideas if you don't even execute on the one idea that you have right now. If you're sitting on one idea forever waiting for the perfect moment to try it, you're wasting so much time because you could have tried that idea, figured out what worked about it and what didn't work about it, tweaked it, changed it, pivoted it, and been divinely guided to a new version of that idea or a totally new idea that works much better. So the fastest way to get to where you're trying to go. The whole point of this is that you got to start. You got to start. You got to choose yourself. You got to start now. You got to start today. You have to say, I'm ready because I choose to be, even though I may not feel fully that way in myself. And the craziest thing happens when you do that, when you actually just say, fuck it, like, I'm choosing to be ready, and you make the big decision and you you do the thing and you speak your truth, you invest in yourself, you ask for the raise, you quit the job, you break up with the person, you ask for the date, whatever. When you take the action, it's like the universe fucking aligns in your favor and is like, yes, yes, okay, I can get on board with that. We're doing something now. We're taking action. We're going places. And blessings and blessings and miracles energy and frequencies and synchronicities come shooting your way. And you are so rewarded and so supported for choosing yourself, for making that difficult decision and just choosing yourself and diving in. You will be rewarded. You will be rewarded. Trust me, it is so real. And I want you to experience it so deeply.
