Samantha Daly breaks down five keys to feeling fulfilled while chasing big goals: service, aligned values, growth, love and connection, and a supportive environment. She argues fulfillment is something to cultivate now, not a reward waiting at the finish line, and compares money and achievement to sugar—quick energy that burns out fast.

What's up guys? Welcome back to the podcast. In this week's episode, we're gonna be talking about the 5 keys to feeling fulfilled while on the path to massive success. So I have quite a bit to say about this topic, and I think the reason that it really came forth for me was after last week's episode about the milestone in the business and hitting $1 million and all those things. I was just really personally reflecting on what the journey has been like and, you know, the past 3, almost 4 years of my life as an entrepreneur and a business owner and someone who's trying to make money online and follow my passion and purpose and mission and all of those things. So a lot of the reflections that happened in the lead up to last week's episode kind of got me thinking about this concept of fulfillment and how do we find fulfillment, or feel fulfillment rather, because I don't think we really find it, but we create it. And how do we do that while we are on the path to massive success? Meaning, if you are someone who has really big goals for your life, who's desiring to create more wealth and abundance, who wants to build a business or do something really big with your career, while you are in pursuit of that, massive success, whatever that looks like for you, how do we feel fulfilled in that path? And so that's what we're going to talk about in today's episode. And I've got some keys that I've kind of outlined for myself. Obviously, these aren't like, you know, factually like find them in a research book. This is what you do and then you feel fulfilled. But in my own reflections, these are the things that I feel have worked the best for me and that contribute the most to my fulfillment. But we're also going to unpack a lot of the mindsets and the way that we tend to go about feeling fulfilled in our lives and why a lot of times that's sort of backwards and what to do instead. Okay, I'm not going to say anything more. Let's just jump into the episode.

Let's go make shift happen. So the first thing that I want you to think about is what is the definition of success that you are operating from? Because we all have our own definition, whether we've said it consciously or it's just been established subconsciously. We all have some sort of definition of success that we are working off of. We have images and things that we've seen in the world through our parents, through society that make us feel like, oh, that person is successful. Like when you think about the successful people that you know in your life or that you follow online or that you look up to, what is it about them? What do they have? What do they do? How do they move through the world? What is it about them that makes you go, yeah, that's a successful person? And that can be kind of a way to breadcrumb yourself towards understanding what the definition of success is that you've been working from. Because most of us don't take the time to sit down and go, what is success to me? And let me really define it and make it really clear. And even if we do, a lot of the times there's still a stronger definition for success that's deep in our subconscious. So if we don't actually— if all we do is sit down and go, oh, success to me is, you know, having time freedom, and being happy and whatever else you might say off the top of your head as being defined as success, you can do that. But if that's all that we do, that doesn't actually mean that that's what we're going to be driven by. So we're going to be driven by the subconscious definition that we have of success. So it's not enough to just say, okay, this is what success looks and feels like to me. We actually then have to do the deeper work of rewiring that story about success because we probably have an image or a vision or an understanding of of what being successful means that was created within our subconscious minds before we likely turned 7 or 8 years old. And so most of us from 0 to 7, we're not conscious enough to go, I'm gonna make success mean happiness, or I'm gonna make success mean time with family and doing something purposeful and having the freedom to make my own schedule. Like, we didn't do that, right? And so the reality of the situation is that most of us are working with a subconscious definition of success that is way more just interpreted and inferred from things that we saw in the world when we were really young. And for that reason, most of our definitions of success are not actually gonna be helpful nor accurate to what we are actually pursuing when we say, I wanna be successful. So that's the first thing. That's the first thing that we have to tackle is like, okay, what's the definition of, of success that you are operating from? And do you know what that looks like on a conscious level? Like, what would you choose your meaning for success to be? And also, do you know what it looks like on a subconscious level? Meaning the thing that you didn't choose, but that was just given to you from your parents, your family, the world, your education, and that you internalized to be the vision or the imagery or the understanding of success when you were young. So that's number one. The second question that I want to ask you is I want you to think about what are the things that you in your life right now are desiring to achieve that you would categorize as markers of success if you, if you got them, if you were to achieve these things, these are goals that you're working towards. And if you were to achieve them, you would be like, checkmark, that's a marker of success for me. So I'm going to give some examples based on the context of, you know, my work in the coaching space and with the understanding that a lot of people listening to this are entrepreneurial or want to start their own businesses or build passion projects or side hustles and things like that. So let's say you're like, okay, there's something that I'm working towards, which is building a 6-figure business or being able to work full-time for myself. Or maybe you want to make a million dollars. Or if we were to, you know, go another different route, maybe you have a goal of like achieving your, achieving your dream body or getting in like optimal health, let's say. So cool. Those are the things that we would categorize as a marker of success if we were to achieve them. Awesome. Okay, so then the next question after that is what would you likely have to do in order to achieve that thing? Like realistically, truly, what would you likely have to do if you wanted to achieve that thing? So if you wanted to work for yourself, build a 6-figure business, or make $1 million, you might have to do things like work 2 jobs at once because you're working your regular job and then you're also building something on the side. You might have to work long hours because you're juggling those 2 things, nights weekends. Maybe you're, uh, spending less time with friends because you've got to pour into this project or this business that you're trying to build. Maybe you have to cut back on expenses so that you can afford a coach or a mentor or someone who's going to help guide you through this process of building the business. Maybe you need to spend less time on social media or spend less time with friends, socializing, going out, drinking. Maybe you want to invest more time in learning and researching all of the new skills that you're going to need in order to build this 6-figure business, right? Maybe you need to put yourself out there in uncomfortable ways and be willing to suck. Maybe you need to be willing to be judged by other people in your life and online. Maybe you're gonna have to go through learning all of these like technical things that you've never done before, like lead generation and landing pages and funnels and automations. And maybe that's gonna be really frustrating, but it's something that you have to do. And so then we ask ourselves like, is the process of doing those things something that you would define as your idea of fulfillment? Like working the extra hours on the weekends, spending less time with friends, uh, learning all these new skills, saving money, investing in coaching, getting judged by others, being willing to suck, being frustrated by the tech. Like, is that process that you would have to go through in order to achieve the thing something that you would be like, yeah, that's fulfillment for me?
Okay, so I have something I think you're really gonna love, and your business is gonna love it even more. Do you want to steal the strategy I've been using to seduce premium buyers and sell out my offers on Instagram Stories? Chances are you're already posting, you're already making sales, but if your Instagram Stories aren't working as hard as you are, you're leaving money on the table. Sold Out Stories is going to teach you exactly how to change that so that you can sell out any offer at any price point. And even high-caliber coaches miss this because selling on Stories isn't about how much you post or how frequently you show up face to camera. It's about psychological sequencing, and the way you're posting right now might be giving the premium buyers in your audience the ick. Documenting your day and hoping it builds trust, posting look-at-me content and calling it authority, sharing client wins as soon as they drop in instead of strategically weaving them into a story-selling sequence designed to drive demand and convert sales.
We both know that you're not here to learn how to show up more.
You're here because you know your content could be converting faster and more effectively. Sold Out Stories is going to give you 5 high-converting story selling frameworks built specifically for premium buyer psychology. Inside, you'll get over 6 hours of deep dive video trainings, real IG story breakdowns, and live walkthroughs that show you exactly how to elevate your slides from authority building all the way to offer flow in less than 10 slides. My clients have already been using these frameworks to pull 5-figure sales days while posting less. One client generated 14 premium leads from a single story sequence. Another sold out her event in under 6 hours with just 8 strategic story slides. No sales calls, no paid ads, just the right frameworks. You'll walk away knowing how to sequence for desire, transition into your offer seamlessly, and sell daily without ever feeling salesy.
You already know your offer's incredible, so now it's just time for your stories to sell it like it is.

That is what it means to be fulfilled. No, most likely the answer is no, right? The process is not really the thing that makes us feel fulfilled. So then we're like, okay, let's look at the result. Is the result something that sounds fulfilling to you? And that result could be whatever, whatever it is for you, right? Like getting in optimal health, building the six-figure business, working for yourself, making $1 million, whatever it is. Is the result something that you're like, oof, that would be really fulfilling in some way deep down? For sure, right? Because that's usually why we want any of these things anyway, is because we're operating with the, with the understanding on some level whether it's conscious or unconscious, that that is going to make me feel good. That is going to bring me some sense of fulfillment. Right? So this is, this is kind of the model in which we approach success and fulfillment naturally in society, in the world today. I think this is mostly what we see people doing is like, oh, there's this big thing, this big goal, this big achievement. I'm going to go after it. And even if the journey sucks, when I get there, the result is going to make me really happy and really fulfilled. And then what happens? What happens when you actually get to that result? Is the fulfillment that you got from achieving that goal sustainable in any way? Does it last very long? No. And you know this for yourself and things that you've already achieved. And we know this from celebrities and famous people and rich people and You know, anyone who's ever achieved something really big in their life will tell you, like, it was great, but like, it wasn't the thing that made me happy. Right? And so it's kind of like the famous Jim Carrey quote where he says, I hope everyone— I wish that everyone would get rich and famous and have everything that they ever dreamed of so that they would know that it's not the answer. Right? So if the journey wasn't something that made us feel fulfilled along the way, and the result only gives us a small hit of the fulfillment, but then crashes shortly after. What— where do we even source this sense of fulfillment? Because we're not getting it from the journey. We're not getting it from the result. Like, how do we access it? What do we do? And I think this is the perplexing question that a lot of people face when they start hitting really big markers of success and realizing that's not it. Like, yeah, it's cool, but it's not the full picture. So what now? Right? What do I do next? Where do I go from here? So here's my thought. I think that to live a life where you feel truly fulfilled in a sustained way, right, over time, not just like little hits here and there because you achieved a goal, but to live a life where you feel truly fulfilled in a sustained way over time. I think it has to be about how we approach the journey, not necessarily what outcomes we're chasing. So not trying to do or achieve things so that we can feel, feel fulfilled on the other side, but to instead approach the things that we're inevitably going to be doing and achieving, the goals that we are inevitably going to be setting for ourselves in a way that allows us to feel fulfilled throughout the process. Right. So it's not so much like, what can I do to be fulfilled? Right? Like, what do I need to achieve? What's the next goal? Like, what's going to make me happy? Once I have this, then I will feel great. It's not that. It's not, what can I do to be fulfilled? It's, how can I do this in a way that allows me to feel fulfillment in the process? That's the shift that I want to make. That's the change and the mindset piece that we're speaking to in this episode. So it's not about even like changing your goals. It's not like, oh, you know, money and success and these things don't really make people happy. So like, stop pursuing it. That's not really what I'm saying. We don't actually have to change the goals at all. It's just about making the pursuit of the goals more enjoyable and meaningful. I made a post a while ago about how idealizing money is like eating sugar all day and expecting to feel full. It was something like that. And essentially the idea around it is like money, success, achievements— those are fast energy sources like sugar. They get burned up really quickly. And so we have to be nourishing ourselves with something else as well. And it's not that you can't or shouldn't have the sugar. Sugar is an important thing. It's a fast energy source. It's great, but we just need more. There just needs to be more substance to what we're actually doing here. I'm actually going to find the post so that I can read it to you because maybe it will be valuable. Okay, so the video said, making money your number one goal is like eating sugar all day and expecting to feel full. It never truly satisfies your hunger and you just end up craving more. And then I'll read you the caption. So this is going to be more specific to like the the coaching space, but regardless, you know, it applies throughout. So it says there's an idealization of money going on in the coaching industry— flashy numbers that make our ego minds go, yes, give me that! Which can be a powerful motivator and a marketing technique, LOL. What I'm noticing is there's two camps being formed. Number one, the coaches who are all about sharing their monthly income and launch numbers as a way to both establish authority and expand their audience's belief of what is possible. Number 2, the coaches who are calling out the other coaches to illuminate the fact that just because you make a lot of money doesn't mean your service is effective or that your clients feel really seen, held, and taken care of in your containers. As someone who also shares my numbers here and there and teaches on money in all of my programs, here is where I've landed. There is truth and validity in both camps. I wouldn't have had the drive or courage to go all in on coaching had I not seen other coaches sharing their income. When I saw women making $100,000 in cash per month in this industry, I actually could not believe my eyes, but it expanded the fuck out of me and it lit a fire within me to really go for it. When I saw those same women getting torn apart online by haters, their relationships imploding and mental health suffering, It was another teaching moment that money doesn't fix us. Money only ever amplifies who we already are. What I know for sure is that in order to be truly successful, not just rich, because those two things are not synonymous, money cannot be the number one goal. When we put money on a pedestal, it's like a dangling carrot. So close, yet so far, never fully satisfying your hunger. There has to be something deeper, a mission, a purpose, a soulful desire, because money is amazeballs and we're allowed to desire it in abundance. But unless you're cultivating it from a heart-centered place, there really is no point. Who do you serve? What is the impact you're making on people's lives? And how can you make sure that your clients walk away feeling better than when they started every call, Every container all the time. So this was that post, and I think it just speaks to this idea around, you know, the pursuit of how we're traditionally seeing people approach, you know, big goals and money. And when it is that on a pedestal of like, that's the number one thing. And when I get there, once I hit six figures, once I make $1 million, once I make $10 million, whatever it is, believing that that's going to be the thing that brings you the fulfillment is a, a disaster, right? We're setting ourselves up for failure. So kind of getting back to the point regarding fulfillment while we're on this path to massive success, I just want to be clear, like, I think it's fine to desire success, wealth, money, fame, recognition, status, whatever it is that you desire. That's fine. Right? We don't need to change the goals. But what I'm saying is we have to understand that if the journey towards it feels awful and there's no other substance, there's no greater depth, there's no reason, there's no purpose, there's no mission. And it feels really fucking awful the entire time that we're trying to get there because we're grinding and hustling and we're believing that by doing so, we're going to be delivered to this experience of like joy and fulfillment. Then we're setting ourselves up for failure, right? Thinking that any achievement is going to make you feel like you've made it, quote unquote, is a recipe for disaster because it's only going to leave you hungry for more. So the question to ask yourself is, how do I want to feel on the way there? That's how I think we're going to shift this and shift the focus from the outcome or the result to actually the journey and the process, right? How do I want to feel on the way there? Not when I get there. Not once I get this, then I will feel happy, then I'll feel fulfilled, then I'll feel successful, then I'll feel good enough, then I'll feel like an authority, then I'll feel worthy, then I'll feel powerful, then I'll feel like I actually, you know, have something to say or a voice that's worthwhile in this industry or this space or this career that I'm in. Whatever. It's not that. It's not once I achieve this, then fill in the blank, I'll feel whatever. It's really like reverse engineering it and going, how do I wanna feel on the way? So what I wanna be clear about here is that I don't want us to get confused about like the entire journey should feel like a fairy tale. So this doesn't mean that you're never gonna have to sacrifice things for your larger goals. Or that everything should just feel easy and fun the whole time, right? If you know me, that's not how I teach. That's not what I believe. I think that's a fake narrative that has been spun for the purpose of marketing programs and services in a way that make you feel like you're missing something and that if business is hard, then you need to be fixed or you need— you're not doing something right and there's a solution to sell you. I do think that business is and always will be challenging if you are doing it right and if you are pursuing growth and the highest standards and if you're walking in true leadership frequency. So there's that. It doesn't mean that, you know, we're never going to have to sacrifice things or that it's going to feel easy the whole time. But you also don't need to suffer the entire time, right? You also don't need to feel like shit 90% of the time to be like, nose to the grindstone. And then when I get there, then I'll be able to relax, then I'll be happy, then everything will be okay, then business will feel easy, then I'll be an authority, then whatever. Like, no, right? So this brings into play like this conversation about pace. And we had a conversation about pace on one of our Abundant and Ambitious mastermind calls the other night. And I thought that this was a valuable topic to bring forward, and it really relates to what we're speaking about in terms of how to feel fulfilled on the journey, on the path to massive success. And so I want to talk about pace for a second.

Love you guys and thanks for supporting Makeshift shift happen. And understanding that feeling good throughout, feeling good on the path to your massive success, might actually require you to slow down slightly. And if you don't desire to— true, if you, for whatever reason, if you don't desire to like feel good throughout the entire journey and you actually are just like in your hustle era and you're like, fuck it, I don't care. Like, all I want to do is work right now. I'm so hungry. I'm so passionate. Like, let's go. Then by all means, blinders on, work your ass off, like, do whatever. But just don't lie to yourself and think that you're going to get to a certain point or a certain milestone that's going to allow you to feel like it's safe to relax or pull back or finally enjoy the fruits of your labor. Usually when we have that energy, it just keeps growing, right? You just keep getting hungrier and it's never really enough, right? Again, back to like the sugar analogy. It's never really enough. You're eating sugar all day long thinking that, oh, you know, eventually I'll get full. No, you're just going to keep burning that shit up and being like, all right, what's next? I need my next hit, right? So understanding that if you want to feel good throughout the journey, then it might require you to slow down a little bit. And that is fine. And this is actually something that I had to come to terms with, and I have to continue to come to terms with over and over again and remind myself of this actively all the time. Like, it is okay. I don't need to be going as fast as everybody. I don't need to be looking left and right and comparing myself to other people and their journeys and their pace. I need to be moving at a speed that allows me to feel good throughout the journey, because that's the whole point. Because I know that none of these goals, none of these milestones, none of these achievements are ever going to bring a sustained sense of joy or fulfillment. That's a lie. And so I've got to make my life the experience of fulfillment on my way to achieving these things. I think about this a lot because one of my mentors that I've worked closely with for several years now, She really skyrocketed in her business and scaled to like $1 million in the first year. And there was just so much momentum and she was moving so fast. And she was one of the first people that I ever saw online making $100,000 a month. And it was month after month after month, $100K, $100K, $100K, $100K. And from the outside, this looked so fucking cool. It looked so fun. I just remember like the— I like, I have the imprint of the stories that she would post like seared in my mind because again, it was really expansive for me and it was one of the things that allowed me to be like, all right, there's so much potential, there's so much possibility. Like, let's fucking go. Like, believe in yourself. Like, this is so much bigger than what you ever thought. And so I remember the stories that she would post of her like waking up with her morning cup of coffee, like walking out onto the deck. And it would be like a little video with like, you know, some music and some screenshots of PayPal and Stripe and whatever. And it's like waking up to another $100K month. And it's so funny because you probably see people posting things like this on social nowadays. And what's crazier is that the coaching space has grown so much that this is now happening with million-dollar months and multimillion-dollar months. And from the outside, we all know it looks so fucking cool, right? Like there's no way we're gonna like lie about it.
It looks really cool.
But the thing that I know from working in close proximity with someone who lived this experience and who moved incredibly fast to hit these milestones is that it's not all what it seems from the outside, the glitz and the glamor and the money and you know, the success and the payments coming in and all the stuff, there's so much more that's going on behind the scenes, right? And so she would tell me, like, I would do— I would die to make sure that I hit that monthly goal. Like, I would not allow myself to, you know, and she had back to back to back to back to back to back to back calls all day long, sales conversations in the DMs, on the phone, getting people through the doors, just like the whole motivation of every day was like, sell, sell, sell, sell, sell, sell, sell. And that takes a toll on a person and also on someone's life. And so I know that the relationship that she was in didn't end up working out. And her partner had even said to her, you know, like, you're going to end up alone because you're pushing everyone away for your— for this work, for your job. Like, you're obsessed. And she admits that, like, we've had deep conversations about this. Like, yeah, it was, it was about the money. It was about getting that hit and feeling something from it. And I think about like, you know, the difference between her going to $1 million in a year and my journey to $1 million in a little less than 4 years and how much different my experience has been because I've, I have maintained a pretty decent schedule. I do work a lot, but like I usually never work on weekends and unless I'm running a free masterclass or something. Um, obviously at the start of my business when I was balancing building my business with also teaching full-time in a school, I had to take some clients on weekends and things like that. But ever since I've been able to work for myself, I've never worked weekends like I have really good boundaries in place. I still go.
I travel a lot.
Jaime and I were just saying, like, how many trips have I been on this year? We counted that by the end of the year I will have had like 12 or 13 trips. Like, that is fucking insane. And I don't work on my trips. I don't travel to work. Like, I'm not working while I'm traveling. I can promise you that. So it didn't obviously work out evenly like this, but if you split it up, that's like one trip per month and I'm out of the office. I'm, I'm not working. So, you know, I have a good balance and I have a healthy relationship and I spend time with friends and I travel to visit my family. And, you know, I took 2 weeks off in the summer to go visit my parents and help my dad with his hip replacement surgery. And I've been able to sustain a level of balance in my journey. But that's meant that I've gone slower, right? Like, I'm not going to make $1 million in a year. And be doing 13 trips and never working weekends and keeping all this balance and whatever. I just know that that's the case for me. And so you've gotta understand, like, in your pursuit of these big goals and the success that you're desiring in your life, of being really intentional about the pace at which you want to move and the pace that works for you. There is nothing wrong with going fast, especially if that feels exciting and good and amazing for you. And there's going to be seasons where you're like, I'm in it, like, let's go, and you want to go fast. And there's also going to be seasons where you want to go slower, and that's fine too. It's just about honoring the pace that's going to work for you and that allows you to feel fulfilled throughout, because you could die in 6 months. And then what would all of it be for? Right? Like, we just don't know. And are there ways to make millions of dollars super fast and not work all the time? I don't know. I don't know anyone who's really done that, but like, maybe. But is that even a realistic or helpful thing to compare yourself to, to be like, oh, well, I'm going to choose to believe that I can make $1 million in a year and not have to work super hard or work all the time. I just don't know if, if that's like a helpful, like, thing to stay— or a standard to, like, set yourself to or to, like, compare yourself against. And it's really dangerous to compare yourself against the versions of people's success and speed that you see on social media and assume that you have all of the context and that you know exactly what that must be like or feel like, because there's also I'll tell you this. There's also a lot of people that understand that everyone wants success. Everyone wants to achieve higher levels of abundance and wealth. And they know that people want balance, people want freedom, people want time away, people want white space in their calendars. So they will sell you that even if it's not 100% the truth all the time. But they will sell you it. They'll paint you the picture of it. They'll show you the vision of it. They'll— the one time that they're like, on vacation or by the pool or doing something where it's like, oh my gosh, getting paid while doing whatever, whatever. The, the small times that that's actually happening is what you will see most of on social media because it's marketing and there's nothing wrong with it really. It's just like we need to be discerning as consumers and understanding that no matter what people are sharing, whether it's the bad stuff or the good stuff, like there's never full context. That's it. You can't consume social media and think this is the full context, this is the full story, this is the full truth of everything that's ever happened. And it doesn't even mean that people are intentionally lying to you. I don't think that's true either. Like the one morning of the week that I make a green smoothie, I'm probably more inclined to like take a cute little picture of it and post it to my stories because I'm like, oh, this is like aesthetic and cute and maybe I'll share the ingredients and this might be helpful to someone. And then someone else might go, oh, she eats super healthy and she has green smoothies every morning. But like, I didn't say that I had it every day and I wasn't trying to make you think that I do that every day. But that's the meaning that we make by consuming that content if we're not being careful and if we're not being discerning. So the same thing goes for these stories about success and big numbers and making money while sleeping or, you know, only working for 4 hours and making millions of dollars and whatever it is. It's like, yes, there may be truth to some of it, but it's not the full story. And that's really, really important for us to remind ourselves of. As soon as you get that through your head, you will stop pedestal people and you'll stop being fucking mesmerized by everything that these people are doing and saying because you understand there is more to the story. They're doing a lot of work behind the scenes. It's not always like this. Sometimes it is and sometimes it's not. Like you just— once you get it, you get it and you're not moving through the world like a victim anymore, believing that all of this is true and that— and wondering what's wrong with you and why you're broken and why you can't do those things every day and why you can't stay committed to your wellness routines and why you can't make the money faster or get paid while you're sleeping and whatever else. Like, that's the most important piece is like Again, going back to this question, how do I want to feel on the way there? And what is the pace that's going to allow me to experience that? And it might be different in this season versus next season versus start of the year versus quarter 4 of the year. It's going to change and adapt as you move through different ebbs and flows and seasons of your life and your business. But always coming back to like, how do I want to feel on the way? And what is the pace that's going to be required? Also based on all the other shit you have going on in your life, because we all have personal lives, we have chaos and things happening around us a lot of the times, or other things that get added to our schedule and our life and family stuff and whatever. So based on the context of your personal existence at that point in time, what is the pace that's going to allow you to feel that way on the way to your success and then just continuing to allow yourself to be flexible and adapt and not compare, not looking left and right and all over social media and assuming that everything is the full story and that what you're seeing is, you know, if it's possible for them, then why is it not happening for me? And creating meanings that don't need to be made. That's the most important thing. So I'm going to share with you guys these 5 keys to fulfillment. Finally, Finally, we are getting to the point. So if I have these 5 things in my life, I will be 100% happy and fulfilled. These are the 5 keys to fulfillment. I'm gonna share them with you now. The first one is service, and this is gonna look different for everybody, but it's really just about helping others and doing something in your life that allows you to feel fulfilled through the act of generosity or being helpful or changing someone's life in some way or whatever that looks like. It could be donating, it could be spending time, it could be working with charities. It could be the fact that your business or your company or the, the whatever you're creating in the online space is going to be of service to others. It's helping people improve their health or improve their mindsets or improve their life or you know, feel happier, feel more fulfilled, but being of service, feeling like there is something about your existence that is helping to make the world a better place, even if it's just in a super small way, even if it's just as simple as like when a new neighbor moves in, you bake them cookies and you put a nice letter on their porch and you welcome them into the neighborhood and the community. Like, it doesn't have to be that deep and you don't need your whole work and career and life to be about service. But I think if you're going to be an entrepreneur and you're going to create something, then why not create something that is based in this idea of how can I help others and how can I make the world a better place? But for everyone who has other career paths that they're happy in and they don't want to be entrepreneurs or they don't want to have a business of their own, there are still ways for you to be of service to the world. And I think that's just such a core pillar of how we're ultimately going to feel fulfilled in our lives is by helping others. And anytime you experience this, Having a— reaching out to a friend and having a meaningful conversation when they're going through a hard time, or, you know, helping a stranger on the street, or just having an interaction with someone that makes them smile in some way. Like, even those little things are always the things that make us feel the best. We walk away from those conversations and we're like, wow, that was really nice to connect with that person like that, or to have that conversation. Or to share a smile with that stranger, or to give a compliment to the cashier at Trader Joe's and have a cute little conversation back and forth like that. Even that is service, you know? So figuring out what it looks like for you in your life, but finding ways to help others is for me like such a pillar of how I'm going to feel fulfilled in my life. It's the thing that brings me the most joy in my work. It's why I do everything that I do, including this podcast, because there's a lot of people that have reached out to me me even just from the podcast. Like, they've never been a client, they've never taken a course, they've never done anything, but they've listened to the podcast and they're like, the podcast has changed my life, or I heard this one episode and I made this shift, or I ended this relationship that I knew wasn't serving me, or I asked for a raise in my job and I made an extra $30,000, or I got the courage to move to a new city, or whatever. Like, there's so many stories of people from this podcast that have changed their life in some way simply because of a conversation that we've had. And that brings me incredible fulfillment. So yeah, finding something that, that allows you to feel useful, that allows you to feel like you are helping others in some way. It could be big or small. It doesn't really matter. So that's number 1. Number 2 is living an aligned life. And so what I mean by this is that you are doing things and spending your time in a way that makes sense is for your values. So whatever it is that you value most, hopefully your life is a reflection of that. The sad truth is that most people's lives are not a reflection of their values. A lot of people are like, oh, you know, I love adventure and travel and wellness and all these things. And then their life is literally slaving away at like this law job where they work until 9 PM or something like that. It's like, okay, that's not an aligned life, right? So living an aligned life is going to bring you so much joy and fulfillment because you are living in accordance to your values. What are the things that you care about? What are the things that you value? And is your life a reflection of that? If one of your top values is family, are you creating enough space and time to have meaningful conversations or trips or whatever it is with your family. So like for me, some of my top values are things like travel and wellness and freedom of time and things like that. And I think that my life really is a reflection of that. I've started my own business so that I can have complete freedom of time. I can make my own schedule. I can take off whenever I want. I can travel. I can do all those things. And as you heard, I do travel quite a lot, 12 or 13 trips by the end of this year. And Wellness is something that's built into my daily routine, just in terms of things that I do in the morning and having the, the freedom and the space to work out and go for walks in the middle of the day and, and do things that are important to me. So yeah, like just making, doing like a little assessment of your life and understanding like, okay, is my life a reflection of the things that I value? And if not, What needs to change? What can I change? Right? Because a lot of times we have to start small. It's not realistic to just tear it all down and quit your job. And, you know, like, it might not be an immediate thing, but it's this process little by little where you start to readjust and strip away the things that are not in alignment with your values so that you can make space for the things that are. And for a lot of people, this is going to be a years-long process of slowly but surely figuring out how to live more in alignment with the things that you care about and the things that you value. Number 3 is feeling like you are growing and progressing. And a lot of this for me has to do with like learning and developing new skills and also pushing myself in business to try and do things that feel big or scary or like uncharted territory for me. As we all know, the famous quote, if you're not growing, you're dying. And I think that's very true for humans because as soon as we feel like we're not growing or making progress, we go, oh my God, I'm just in a rut. I'm stuck. Like, that language means not growing, not progressing. And the reason that you feel like shit is because you're not fulfilled, because you can't be fulfilled if you're not growing and progressing. That's what stuckness actually means. Is a lack of growth. It's a stagnancy. You're just standing still. So having things in your life that make you feel like you're growing and progressing are really important. And that could be challenging yourself in your career or in business, trying new things, learning new skills, taking courses, studying something, whatever it is. But like, you— I really believe you've got to feel like you're growing and progressing in order to feel that sense of fulfillment. Number 4 is love and connection, because how are we going to feel fulfilled in life if we don't have love and connection? It's a core pillar. It's a core need. It's core desire. It's so central to our happiness as humans. And as we know, if you guys listen to the episode about how to build a top-tier life, I talked about that Harvard study all about the relationships and how important that is in your life. So, you know, if you haven't listened to that episode, go back. It's a fan favorite. People loved that episode and this This is exactly a representation of that. Why is it one of the 5 keys to fulfillment? Because having thriving relationships in your life not only makes you happier, but it also makes you healthier and it helps you live longer. Like, that's a fact that is based on research. I know I said the 5 keys to fulfillment, these aren't research-backed, they're just my opinions. But actually that one is fully research-backed by like the longest Harvard study ever done. So Facts. You got to have love and connection in your life. And I think in order to have those thriving relationships, there has to be the time to pour into them and to nurture them. And so you might have, of course, people in your life that you love and care for, but maybe a point of reflection is like, am I nurturing these relationships to the extent that I would like to be? Who do I want to spend more time with? How do I want to change how I spend time with people? A lot of times we spend— we spend time with the people that we love, but we're also on our phones or we're watching TV or, you know, we're doing something that's not really like strengthening or deepening that connection. And so maybe getting intentional about like, how do I want to spend time better with the people that I love and that are important to me in my life? The 5th and final key to fulfillment is having a support supportive environment. Oh my God, environment is key. We know this. And actually, again, this is science-backed. Your environment affects so much of your life, of your mindset, of your happiness, of your attitude, of your frequency, of the opportunities that you're able to attract. So much is influenced by your environment, your mental state, your clarity, your focus, literally everything. And so having an environment that actually supports you is imperative. And this could be the city that you live in, but it's also your home or your apartment, like whatever your actual, like, living quarters is. It's also like your surroundings, the aesthetics, the way that you design the space or decorate. It's your furniture, it's your— it's like the organization and the cleanliness of the spaces. Is everything messy and making you have a cluttered mind, or is it clean and clear? It's also your workplace, because a lot of us are going to spend a huge percentage of our life in the workplace. Is your work a supportive environment? And it's also the people in your life that have access to you, that you spend time with. Are those people supportive for you? So thinking about your environment and maybe doing a little audit for yourself of like, is this a supportive space, or how could I improve this space to give me more mental clarity, to give me more focus, to help me feel more productive, to help me feel more inspired. And, you know, I think a lot of times, like, beautifying things or romanticizing things or focusing on the aesthetics of things, as women, we tend to love that stuff. From the, from the masculine side, it may be like poo-pooed a little bit of like, oh, it doesn't really matter, right? How many men in your life are like, it doesn't matter what it looks like, let's just like get the cheaper thing or get the more sensible thing or the thing that's more functional. And you're like, no, it needs to look beautiful. And there's a, there's a thing with that. And the reason why aesthetics matter so much, especially to us as women, is that it creates a supportive environment for us. Feeling like your space and your things are beautiful actually makes you more inclined to be productive or show up in the way that you want to. Like, how excited are you to, like, light your cute little aesthetic candle and, like, clean off your desk? And when that's all done, you feel more ready to sit down and work and be focused. It's also like the Marie Kondo concept of like outer order, inner calm. We literally feel more calm, more capable, more focused, more productive. We have a higher desire to actually utilize the spaces and show up in the ways that we want to for ourselves when the outside space is beautiful, is aesthetic, is clean, is neat, is tidy. So make sure that your environment is supportive to you. Make sure that you like the city that you live in. If you talk shit about your city on the regular of like, oh my God, it's just fucking Los Angeles, or like wherever you live, like that's probably not the most ideal place for you to be. Either you change your mindset about what that city is about and what the lifestyle is like there and how the people are, or you get out of Dodge and you go somewhere else and you find a place where you're like, I love it here because loving it where you live will change your fucking life. That I can promise you. And it will help you feel more fulfilled because you wake up on a regular basis and you're like, oh my gosh, can't believe I live here. Love this place. Love the people. This is so much fun. Look how cute my space is. And it doesn't mean that you have to have a ton of money or live in a big house like none of that. It's just like, can you make it feel good for you and feel supportive for you. And then to bring it all back together, obviously, in order to have a lot of these things, we are going to need some of that holy resource of money, which is why it is a worthwhile pursuit, as we've been saying, for you to want to be wildly successful, for you— for it to be okay for you to have these desires for wealth and abundance and freedom and all of those things. The holy resource of money is going to help you in the pursuit of being able to do more service for others, of being able to situate yourself and get yourself in a position where you can live an aligned life, where you can build a business or potentially leave your job, where you can pursue growth opportunities or take courses or pay a, a private tutor so that you can learn a language or do things like that, right? It's going to allow you to create the supportive environment that you need, whether it's like moving or redecorating or whatever. So you don't need to have the best of the best or tons of money or the, the most amazing things in order to hit these 5 keys to fulfillment. But of course, having more resources, a.k.a. money, is going to make it easier for you to access some of these 5 keys. And I think we can grow in, in the way that we integrate these things into our life. And so maybe for you right now, like what's realistic and what's free is I'm just going to clean up my space. My space is what it is and that's what I have access to and that's what I can afford. And so I'm just going to clean up my space and I'm going to light the candle and that's going to be my version of creating the supportive environment. But eventually at some point with more money, you'll be able to get a new place that feels more inspiring or move to a different city or redecorate in a way.
Right.
And so it's not that you can't do it without money. Absolutely. You can access all 5 keys to fulfillment for free. But there's no doubt that having more of the holy resource is going to help you kind of ascend and grow and go even further into those 5 keys for fulfillment, which is why it's so important that I always remind you, you don't need to change the goals. It's not about being holier than thou and never wanting to make money or just being of service. That's not what it's about. I don't actually think that's how we help the world. I don't actually think that's how we make more impact. I don't think that's how we touch more lives. Like, it is okay to want to be wildly successful. Because when you create the circumstances for both you and your loved ones to have a better chance at feeling fulfilled, you are ultimately then going to be able to do more for everybody else, right? You are going to be of higher service when you're in that space of feeling safe, of feeling supported, of feeling aligned, of feeling fulfilled. And this is the game of life anyway. Right? Like, we are here to find our own unique solution to the human condition and unlock as much joy and love and adventure and peace as possible along the way. So most importantly, I just want to close by saying and reminding, like, as we've illustrated in this entire episode, it's about the becoming rather than the arriving. It's not about the goals or the achievements or the outcomes that we're chasing. It's about how we want to feel on the way there. And so hopefully you found this valuable, and there's points of reflection in here for you to take a look at your own life and your journey and how you want to approach things. Maybe some things you want to reevaluate or change or pour into more.
