A short YouTube message from Dr. Ellie Campbell about stroke and heart attack prevention. She argues that inflammation—not traditional cholesterol-focused care—is the primary driver of cardiovascular disease and says her clinic follows the Bale Deneen method (referencing the book Beat the Heart Attack Gene) to assess personal and family risk and improve lab/ultrasound parameters to reduce risk.

One of my favorite things to help my patients with is stroke and heart attack prevention. After all, cardiovascular disease is the number one killer in our country and we've not made very big impact in reducing its risk over time. Part of the reason for that is that most doctors are using the wrong tools. They're using the old fashioned paradigm of cholesterol management and that is really not a good strategy. We now know that inflammation is the bigger driver of cardiovascular disease. So in our office we follow the Bale Deneen method. My friends Brad Bale and Amy Deneen wrote this book called Beat the Heart Attack Gene. And in it they describe in great detail how we can use your personal and family risk factors, your lab work and your ultrasound test to decide whether you are at risk for cardiovascular disease. If you are, we can help you change your parameters because you're not stuck with the labs you have. We can make them better and we can dramatically reduce your risk for stroke and heart attack. I'd love to see you as a patient to help you have the best possible long term outcome.
