Google's simple search box won't stay dominant forever. AI will enable assistant-style interfaces that understand intent without text input, forcing Google to reinvent its front-end. The company has the resources to lead this shift.
But the same problem.
Remains. If you look at Google today, right, it's basically a search box and it's incredibly powerful.
But what happens when that interface is not really textual? Google will have to reinvent that, which means it's working on. It'll be. The system will somehow know what you're asking, right? It will be your assistant. And again, Google will do very well. So I'm in no way criticizing Google here, but I'm saying that even something as simple as the search box will eventually be replaced by something more powerful. It's important that Google be the company that does that. I believe.
I don't think anyone in their right mind is arguing that the Google search box, so the way that people, you know, Google something is fundamentally changing. But this whole notion that Google is going to become irrelevant and it's become going to become the next Yellow Pages really forgets the key role that Google has played into where we are right now. In fact, much of the underlying GPT technology that ChatGPT opened and launched with was actually created by Google. So this is where I think this is going to end up. We won't be doing the Google search box anymore, but Google will still be a real, real major player in you interact with search in many years to come.
