164. What's On My Vision Board This Year?

Andy Neary walks through his Q1 vision board, which includes the Hybrid Athlete 2.0 program, a $125,000 revenue goal, trips to Devil's Thumb Ranch and Park City, and five mentors he studies: Tom Bilyeu, Raul Pal, Jesse Itzler, Donald Miller, and Nick Bare. He builds boards seasonally around who to become, not just where to go.

Hey. Hey. Welcome back to Friday Bullpen Sessions. My name is Andy Neary and this is episode 164. So how you doing today? Yeah, I'm recording this on Monday, January 24th. So if I've got any fellow Packer fans out there, we all know that Saturday was a utter disappointment. In fact, it was a complete meltdown. If you are watched any of that game, you watched a team that literally melted down what had its special teams melt down. And when you have everything going your way, this is the most frustrating thing as a Packer fan. Yeah, I'm starting this episode as a Packer fan and going off on a little rant. The last two years, you couldn't have asked for games, playoff opportunities that have been set up in your favor more than we have the last two years. Last year, the NFC championship, cold, you know, frigid temperatures, Lambeau Field, and they come out and they stink it up against Tom Brady and the Buccaneers. This year, temperatures around 0 degrees.
Night game, snowing. I mean, you talk about the ideal conditions if you are the Green Bay packers with home field advantage. And again, they stink it up. And so as a Packer fan, I think we have every right to be a little upset. These past two years we've had everything go, everything's set up perfectly to make that super bowl run and it just doesn't happen. And I hate to tell you Packer fans, I think we did witness Aaron Rodgers last game with Green Bay. So move on. Life goes on. Here we go. So what am I talking about today? Today I want to talk about what the heck is on my vision board. Now before you immediately make the assumption, oh great. We're going to talk about visualizing and if you just dream it and if you just think it, everything's gonna happen. No, no, that's not what we're talking about today. But I do want to talk to you about what I did put on my vision board this year. Because I hope the hope with this is it gives you some ideas on how to really go at 2022 with some intention. And I, I will tell you firsthand, this is something I've struggled at. Amy has been a huge asset in helping me really get better. Better at really deep dive deep into creating things like vision boards with intention versus hey, let's sit down and cut. Cut a bunch of piece, a bunch of pictures out from Vogue magazine. Like, no, what is the actual intention of creating a vision board? And that's where I really want to start today, is how can you go about Visualizing what it is you want to accomplish this year and then you can and then go about making it happen. Yes, I believe you can't just visualize things and they magically come to fruition. We all know the book that came out, man. It was 15 years ago at least the Secret. And I read it, I was a believer. And I think we're now looking back, knowing what I know today, where the Secret went wrong was it did kind of give you this feeling that if you just sit on the couch and visualize and meditate a little bit, all the magical shit will come to your life. No, no, no. You actually have to put in the work. You actually have to have a plan land to go out and make it happen. But today I want to start with the power of visualization and that using vision boards and, and how you can do that effectively. So the first place that I started, and again this is with the, the help of Amy, is.
We don't make vision boards for the entire year. We actually do it by seasons. And so the vision board that I'm staring at right now on January 24, is the vision board for what I would call the winter. The first quarter. January, February, March, and right in the middle. And if you're not able to watch this episode on you, my YouTube channel, you may not see everything, but it's still going to be fine. You're going to hear everything I have to say here, and it's going to make a lot of sense. Right in the middle of my vision board is just the word or picture of the word handwritten in snow, winter. Because that's the season we're in. So when I went about putting together my vision board for the winter, I said, okay.
Again, I don't want to get caught in this activity of going and finding a bunch of magazines, cutting out a bunch of pictures that look pretty and magically creating this life of that I could never imagine. No, no. What I focused on for this first quarter, vision board, is images that are just going to be subtle reminders of who I need to be, where I might be traveling this quarter so that every day I can check in with myself to make sure I am that person. I am being that person who accomplishes everything on this vision board. So that's, that's a very big key is, I think when it comes to the vision board, we often focused on images of the destination, the results we want to create, whether that is, it's the. That dream house, the dream car, the dream vacation. I went about using this Board as a daily reminder to just look at it and say, okay, am I acting as the individual who is going to accomplish all these things? And this will make sense as I dive into this. So Amy has been a big help with that because I was that person who would create the vision board with all the results, all the destinations, all the things, right. That you want to create in your life. But this has really been a game changer for me of going, no, no, no, no.
Who do I need to be every single day to achieve the stuff that's on this vision board? So let me explain. When I look at my vision board right now, there's probably, I don't know, 20 images on the vision board. And what's nice about today's world, back in the day, you only had magazines to cut pictures out of, right? But today you can go on the Internet. I use Canva. I cut out certain pictures or, you know, I download certain pictures from the Internet from Instagram on my phone. It's just a lot easier these days to create a vision board. And what Amy and I do is actually we create the board on our computer and then we order the vision board printed on some at Staples. So it's a nice printed vision board. Not again, not something made up of a bunch of cutout pictures. And then we glue the picture, you know, the. The image that Staples has printed for us onto a nice, thick, thick poster board. So it really makes for a nice, thick, hard piece of solid poster that I can stare at every day looking at these visions that I have for here, winter of 2022. And I place this right behind. In fact, you're watching this on YouTube. Here's my. Here's my visual. Here's my vision board right now. I place this right by my computer every day so that when I work, or I put it, I literally will put it behind my computer as I'm coaching my clients. So I can see it. It's a subtle reminder that it's always there. Am I being that individual? So what the heck is on the vision board? Well, the first thing is I go from upper left down to the bottom right is I have what I cut out as the Hybrid Athlete 2.0. So I've been following this gentleman by the name of Nick Baer. I first came upon his YouTube channel when I was in the hospital, and I really made a dedication to start diving into my health more, become a student of the game. And he was somebody that really resonated with me because he shares his life, his business, which is a very successful supplement company and his daily tips about eating and exercise. And a hybrid 2.0 is an actual workout he has created. He has Hybrid Athlete 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, and it's something I decided to do. It's hybrid athlete, meaning if you're somebody who likes to lift weights and run or lift weights and bikes. He has created a series of workouts every, every version is about 12 weeks long. So he's got 1.0, 2.03 put on. Right now I'm in the middle of his 2.0 routine, his 2.0 exercise. So this is just a reminder that that is my daily physical exercise focus for the quarter. The Hybrid Athlete 2.0 workout. Then next to that, I've got an image that just says consistency is a freaking superpower. Because for me, I truly believe the secret to success is consistency. That ability to show up every single day no matter what happened to you yesterday, that ability to put in the daily monotonous activities that you have to do to be successful, it's consistency. So that's just my subtle reminder that I need to be consistent every single day, get up and do it all over again day after day after day. Now I also have an image of what appears to be a gentleman whose back is all tatted up. It's, it's, it's an image that conveys energy and higher power and, you know, self reflection. And that's just a subtle reminder for me that I'm going to dive deeper into the spiritual side of my life. Whether it's breath, work or religion or.
The power of energy and healing and Reiki, you know, the business Amy has. I'm going to put more work, become more of a student of the game.
In really connecting with myself spiritually. So again, that's just that reminder. Now I've got a picture image of a cup of coffee, an image of some healthy fruit and vegetables. Again, the fruit and vegetables is that subtle reminder. Are you taking care of your body nutritionally?
And then a cup of coffee is just a reminder to enjoy life. One of the things I absolutely love doing is, you know, working off site, working at a coffee shop or on the weekends, just going and grabbing a cup of coffee with my iPad, reading some articles, watching some YouTube channels. I absolutely love that. That's just that subtle reminder to remember to do those things. Now, the next image I have on the, on the vision board here is the image of the official story brand certified guide logo. And one of the things I'm very Excited for this quarter is I'm actually getting certified as a story brand guide, which will give you the opportunity to access some of the story brand materials. It's going to help take my business to the next level when it comes to helping my clients with their branding and their messaging. So again, it's a reminder. That's something I'm here this quarter to accomplish. Now, the next image to the next, excuse me, to the right of that is images of Bitcoin and an Ethereum coin. Now, one thing I'm really diving into this year is cryptocurrency. And as I look at what's happening to, you know, our economy, the banking system in this country, I really believe cryptocurrency is the wave of the future. And again, I didn't know jack shit about it six months ago. And so I really made an effort to dive deep. I've made my first investments and I'm excited. I really think this is, again, from a financial standpoint, this, this crypto is here to stay and it's going to become the emerging financial call it, platform from which we operate as a society. And so I've got that image of the crypto coins. Now next to that, I've got an image of one of my favorite places in Colorado. And it's an image of two Adirondack chairs looking out over the valley of snow and mountains, beer sitting on the, the arm, arm, armrest of one of the Adirondack chairs. This is actually an image from Devil's Thumb Ranch just outside of Winter Park, Colorado. And this is something I'm excited for. In fact, down below I've also got an image of a gentleman cross country skiing also at Devil's Thumb Ranch. And I'm excited that second week of February, I am going to take a two, three day CEO trip up to Devil's Thumb, booked it for myself. Amy's going to stay home and it's just for a chance for me to get away, work on the business, get some clarity, while also enjoying the beauty that is Devil Thumb Ranch. So that's something that I'm going to be doing here this quarter. So it's just that reminder that's more of a, hey, this is an image of something to look forward to. I'm excited I'm going to be doing this. Now the next image is of an image of a gentleman running around the track to actually taking off from a stand position, ready to do a sprint on a track, a high school track. That's a reminder that a lot of what I'm doing right now with my exercise involves running. So again, subtle reminders not to believe. What else do I have on here? I've got an image of 125. It just looks like an image of somebody's address. But 125 represents to me my goal for revenue this quarter, $125,000. I've got an image of downtown Savannah, Georgia. I'm going to do a workshop there in March. So again, a reminder. I'm headed there. I'm excited. I got an image of the materials that my academy, Broker branding Academy members received. Again, a reminder that the broker branding Academy is something that I am running with as a business this quarter. And then down at the bottom, I've got an image of. Call it a pre. What do they call that? A pre ski. It's a. It's a beautiful deck in Park City, Utah. One of my goals this quarter, to get to Park City to do the little skiing. I've got an image that I took last year from Crested Butte. It's just a sign. Somebody says that says what the world needs is what you have to offer. This is that reminder that, Andy, what you do is important. And then I've got an image of the open workspace I now work at in Loveland, Colorado. It's something I decided to do last quarter just to get myself out of the house. It's a gorgeous open workspace. It's an old bank that they've turned into a workspace. It's bright, there's a lot of glass. Just allows me to open my mind and put some creativity. I've got two glasses of wine, toasting each other. That's a reminder for Amy and I to enjoy life, to take time, spend time with each other. But the last thing I want to talk about on this.
Is I have five images on my vision board of specific people.
And if you're watching this again on YouTube, you may recognize some of these faces, some you may not. But here's who I have images of. I've got images. An image of Tom Bilyeu, an image of Raw Powell, image of Jesse Itzler, image of Donald Miller, and an image of Nick barefoot. And before you say Andy, that's kind of creepy that you got those on the vision board. Here's. Let me explain. If you listened to the episode I did, I think it was back in November. I talked about who's sitting at your round table of success when I decided I needed to become a better student of life. One of the first exercises I did was create a roundtable of subject matter experts that I was going to lean on and who I felt had specific areas of subject matter expertise in areas of my life I needed to improve. So these are going to be men and women that I follow, that I reach not so much reach out to, but at least just look to for advice when it comes to the specific areas of my life. So Tom Bilyeu I put there as my subject matter expertise right now on the topic of mindset. Tom is a fascinating man. Built an amazing business with Quest Bar Quest and sold it for a lot of money. There was a B in front of that sale and he's just a gentleman that has a lot of good things about mindset. How to be positive, how to be productive. So he's the guy I go to, I watch YouTube videos of when it comes to mindset. Raul Paul, he's a macro economist, very attuned to what is going on in the crypto world with Bitcoin, Ethereum and all the other altcoins. So I watch and I go to Raul when it comes to investing in crypto, what to look for, what are the trends, what's going on Right now, crypto is diving horribly. But Raul provides good insight as to why and how we should be optimistic about what are, you know, what's to come. Jesse Itzler, he is my subject matter expert, the guy at my round table when it comes to enjoying life and being happy. If you know Jesse or followed him, he is the husband of Sarah Blakely. He's equally successful to Sarah. Everybody knows Sarah from Spanx. But Jesse has built several amazing businesses and, and, and walk and sold them for, for a phenomenal amount of wealth. And Jesse is a gentleman who has a lot on his plate. He has four kids, his wife operates a massive business which she just sold. But he still knows how to enjoy life, have fun. In fact, I just ordered his big ass calendar that he, that he has created and he's the guy I go to. I watch YouTube videos, I've listened to podcasts from when it comes to how to enjoy life, how to build a life resume as he calls it and then the last two. Donald Miller. Donald Miller is the founder of storybrand. As I mentioned this quarter I'm getting certified as a story brand guide and as the founder of that company. Donald Miller is a mentor. In fact, I'm going to get to learn from him this quarter. So I'm very, very excited. And Nick Bear is the last gentleman that I mentioned much earlier. In the podcast. He's the owner and founder of bpn, which is a nutritional supplement company that I use some of the supplements now, but he also has that hybrid athlete 2.0. So he's my go to subject matter matter expert when it comes to health and fitness. And so these are the folks at my round table. And it's so important that when I look at this vision board every day, again, it's not a bunch of images of of destinations and dream homes and dream cars. It's daily reminders of places I'm going to this quarter to get excited. It is a reminder of things I'm looking to get better at. I've got my mentors sitting on that board as that reminder of am I being the best version of myself in that category of life? And so this vision board has been really powerful for me. It's the best vision board I've ever created. I can thank Amy 100 for that. And so I wanted to pass this on to you because if you really want to make 2022 the best year you've ever had, whether it's in business or life or both, I highly recommend trying this exercise. And again, don't think of vision boards as getting your friends together, bringing a bunch of old magazines and cutting up some pictures. No, no. This is a daily reminder, an image of not only what you're going to accomplish, but who you need to be to accomplish it.
And instead of creating a vision board for the entire year, or heck, some even do it for the next five years, just start with one season. You know, come April, Amy and I are going to create one for spring. We're going to create one for summer, we're going to create one for fall. And if you take it season by season and really hone in on the things you're going to accomplish and the person you're going to become to accomplish those things, I promise this vision board is going to be a powerful daily reminder in your life to be the best version of yourself. And if it doesn't motivate you to wake up every day and just get after it, I don't know what will. So that's my advice today. I wanted to share that. I hope it wasn't too much, but, hey, I'm excited about the things, the places, and the people on this vision board. And I could already. I already know the impact it's had on my life here early on in 2022. So I wanted to pass it on to you. Got any questions, you know where to find me. Hit me up. But, hey, when you create vision boards like this that are. That are inspiring, they're motivating, and they're the reminders. You need to leave it all on the field. Every day, you know what happens. You get the clarity you need. And when you get the clarity you need, it builds the confidence. You need to go take that massive action. You need to accomplish everything you want. So go make it happen today.
