Andy Neary argues thought leadership isn't about being the smartest person in the room. It's about being the first person prospects think of when they have a problem. Repeat your message about what matters to them until you own that space in their mind.

I give a whole new perspective to thought leader number one. Does it mean you have to be the smartest person in that space? Absolutely not. Two, does it mean you have to always be looking around the corner for ideas that nobody's ever talked about? No. Should you try to shift the perspective of your target buyers? Yes. But really, if you break down the word thought leader, my question is, are you the person they think of first in their thoughts? Are you you the leader of their thoughts? Awareness is where thought leadership is built. If I see you enough talking about something that I think I might need or a problem I might have to solve, you're going to be the first person I think of when I have that problem. That is a thought leader.
