Beyond The Pitcher's Mound Ep 5: How I Prepare For Business Trips

Andy Neary (Beyond The Pitcher's Mound Ep. 5) explains his step-by-step method for staying healthy and productive on short business trips. He emphasizes packing the night before, pre-mixing daily nutrition/supplement packets (workout mix, evening tea, morning greens/electrolytes, CBD gummy for sleep), researching healthy restaurants and local gyms (day passes) via Google before arrival, and finally packing appropriate clothes for workouts, sleep, and work. The video is practical and prescriptive, aimed at helping viewers maintain routines while traveling.

Hey. Hey. Welcome to another episode of beyond the Pitcher's Mound. I'm coming to you today live from my hotel room in bright, sunny Kalamazoo, Michigan. Not really. Listen, if you're from the Midwest and you're watching this and you want Amy and I to move back from Colorado, back to the Midwest, tell Mother Nature to stop giving me these horribly gray winter days When I come back, it is not making us want to come home. All right, question comes up a lot, Andy. How do you pack for your road trips? How do you ensure you win the road trip and that you're healthy and you can stay in your routine? So what I thought I'd do is just show you how I pack for all of my road trips. So the first thing I do when I am getting ready to go on the road is I make sure I pack the night before. I want to pack with little stress. I want to be able to slow down, take my time, plan so I don't forget anything. So I don't get to the hotel and go, shit, I forgot something important. So it always starts the night before. The first thing I do is I go to the kitchen to pack my supplements and my vitamins. Yep, that's the first thing I do. So what do I pack? I've got my workout mix. Yep. Do not want to miss a workout while I'm on the road. So the first thing I put together is the number of servings I'm going to need of my workout mix based on how many workouts I'm going to do on that road trip. The second thing I do is I put together my evening tea mix. This is Joy Organics. It's a great tea to take before you go to bed to help you sleep better. And so I make sure I have the right number of servings based on the number of nights I am going to be gone. And then I put together my morning drink mix. This is a mix of my greens, my reds, my electrolytes. Each morning, depending on the number of mornings I'm gonna be gone, constitutes one of these packets. So I premix them. So all I have to do is when I get up and is I pour this into my water, I don't have to think about it. It's all ready to rock and roll. The more I have to think on the road, let's be honest, the less likely you are going to actually continue practicing those habits, you know, that are keeping you healthy. Then I put together my vitamins and my supplements. So each.
Ziploc package represents one Morning. This is my morning mix of vitamins and supplements. And then on the flip side, I've got my evening mix of my supplements, including my CBD gummy, which helps me sleep at night. So on this trip to Kalamazoo, I'm gonna be gone for two nights. So there's two Ziploc bags for each day of my morning and evening vitamins and supplements. So that's step number one. I pack all of my nutrition. The second thing I do when I'm on the road is I go to Google, I go to the Internet and I find out where the healthiest restaurants are. So when I knew I was coming to Kalamazoo, I sat down, I went to Google and I literally typed in healthiest restauran in Kalamazoo. And I was able to find a couple that serve the kind of menu that I like. And so I know when I get here, I know exactly where I'm go have dinner. I am not sacrificing my healthy eating habits because I'm on the road. I see so many people let all this go when they're on the road. They eat like crap, they drink too much, and this is why they're not feeling good. This is why they're not productive and they're not effective. Take the time to find out where those healthy restaurants are. It's as simple as going on Google. So I'm going to be here for two nights. I knew exactly which two restaurants I am going to go patronize because it's going to allow me to continue eating a healthy diet when I'm on the road. The second thing I Google is local gyms. Now you could say, Andy, why don't you just work out at the hotel? Not every hotel has what you want when it comes to equipment. So I go to Google and I look up where the local gyms are. Now what's nice here in Kalamazoo is right down the road there's a Kalamazoo athletic club that has day passes. So I know when I get here, I know exactly where I'm gonna go work out each and every morning. And I know they have the equipment I need to do the workouts that I do. Again, it's about taking your routine when you're at home, when you have that home fielded advantage and applying it to the rope. Then the last thing I do when it's time to get ready for a trip is I pack my clothes. That's the last thing. It's the quickest thing. It's what takes the shortest amount of time. I just have to make sure I have my clothes for my workouts, my clothes to sleep in and my clothes to work in. But it's so important to be prepared. I see too many people. When it's time to go on the road for a work trip, quickly pack. Don't think. You don't even plan about plan workouts. Plan what it's going to take to eat healthy. You don't include your supplements that you take when you're at home and before you know it, you're less productive, less effective. You have less energy on the road. Instead, if you would just reverse engineer it, start the night before. Take the time to plan. Start with your healthy nutrition first. Before the clothes go in, look for those restaurants. Look where you can work out. It's easy to win the road trip. It's easy, easy to go on the road and apply those habits that make you so great at home. So I hope this helped. This is how I get myself ready for effective road trips. It's how I can continue applying those daily habits and routines that I use when I'm at home on the road so that I can maintain that high effectiveness, productivity, energy, all that stuff. So I hope this helps. Let me know if you got any questions. Let me know what you do to make sure you win your road trips and you're effective and you can maintain those healthy habits on the road. I'd love to know. Share in the comments below and I'll see you in the next video.
