Hey. Hey. Welcome back to another episode of beyond the Pitcher's Mound. The goal of these episodes is to give you a behind the scenes look beyond the pitcher's mound. Of the things I do on a daily, weekly basis that have helped me personally helped me professionally, and I hope they help you too. So I'm going to keep sharing the things I'm using that are working for me, the challenges I've had, because maybe you face them too. Heck, I'm going to show you around town in Fort Collins, just give you a feel for where I live. The goal is if there's one nugget that you can take away from one of these episodes that helps you change your business, change your life. That is the goal. Inspire just one Today I want to talk to you about. No, not my vision board, but I want to talk to you about something I started doing in the last three or four months that has been a game changer for me professionally and personally.
Now, if you listen to last week's Friday Bullpen Sessions, episode 164, you heard me talk about my vision board. And if you're a subscriber, thank you. And if you're not subscribed to the podcast. But on that podcast I talked about my vision board and how I create my vision board. In fact, earlier this week I posted on my intent when I create my vision board. It's not to just put a bunch of pictures with destinations so I can close my eyes and dream it. It's more of reminders of who I need to be today to achieve my goals. But there's some specific people on this vision board that I want to talk about today that has really helped me up level personally and professionally. And the secret that I fell upon and that I use today that has become a game changer for me is creating my own board of mentors, my own roundtable of mentors. You see, in today's world, where we can access content so quickly and easily, whether it's YouTube, Google social media, it's easy to get sucked into following all these different people, right? Any type of content you want, any type of information or education wants at your fingertips now. But there is something to be said about listening to too many people because they all have different opinions, right? And then all of a sudden, before you know it, it's paralysis by analysis. You're listening to too many opinions and then therefore it's too confusing. You're paralyzed and you're just not taking action. I know, I've been there before. So here's What I decided to do about three or four months ago, I said, what are those areas in my life that I feel like I could continue to improve? And this idea really came after I got out of the hospital with my leg infection back in August because I said, I need to become a better student of life. I not only need to know what to do, but I need to know why and how, why I'm doing what I'm doing. And so I picked a few areas in my life where I wanted to improve, I wanted to become a better student. And it ended up me creating this roundtable of mentors who I now follow. So instead of listening to all these different opinions, there are very few people I go to for certain topics that I consider my mentor, my subject matter expert, to help me grow personally and professionally. So I'm going to share them with you because again, if this can just jostle one nugget for you that's going to help you create something that's going to change your business or your life, this is what it's all about. So you'll notice I have five different individuals on my vision board that sit on my roundtable today. The first one is Tom Bilyeu. If you don't know Tom Bilyeu, he one of the founders of Quest Bar. He ended up selling Quest for, I want to say, a billion dollars. So he's made a lot of money in his life. Tom has a company now called Impact Theory and he's got Impact Theory University. It's all built on mindset, all the mindset shifts you can make in your life to change and shift your trajectory of your success. So when it comes to mindset and how to shift mindset, when I know I need a little up level, a little upgrade and how I'm thinking, I go to Tom, I listen to his podcast, I listen to watch his videos on YouTube. Tom is my guy. I When it comes to all things mindset, the next gentleman on this board is Raoul Paul. A few months ago, Amy and I decided to start taking a closer look at cryptocurrency, Bitcoin, Ethereum, things like that. Because the way we're going these days, we've got to look at different ideas, different opportunities economically. So we've been starting to dive into crypto. And I said, I'm not going to be somebody who just listens to one quick opinion on crypto and jump all in. No, I'm going to study it, I'm going to start learning about what it is, how does it work? Why should I take this seriously. And the gentleman that I fell upon is Raoul Paul. He's a macroeconomist. And so again, when it comes to all things crypto, Raoul Paul is the guy I go to, to listen, to study, learn about what he's talking about, what he's doing. When it comes to crypto, the Bitcoin, to Ethereum, I also listen to a gentleman by the name of Michael Saylor. But again, it's my way to dive into crypto, into investing in crypto, so, so I can become a better student of the game. The third one is Jesse Itzler. He is one of my favorite gentlemen. If you don't know who Jesse is, he's the husband of Sarah Blakely, who is the founder of Spanx, you probably know, who just sold her company for a billion dollars. But Jesse's had a lot of success in his own career. He has sold several businesses very successfully. But Jesse is my mentor when it comes to creating a life filled with happiness and joy. In fact, I have my big ass annual calendar that I bought from Jesse that allows you to look at your entire year in one big calendar. Because Jesse is a gentleman who understands what it takes to not only be successful, be productive, but also have fun and happiness. Bring happiness and fun into your life. He and his wife are very successful entrepreneurs. They are parents of four. And Jesse is a gentleman who knows how to be present every single day, to spend time on business, time on fun, time on his health. So when it comes to how to create happiness and joy, Jesse's the guy I go to. Now. Down here I've got Nick Baer. Nick Barra is my mentor in health and fitness. You see, when I came out of the hospital from that leg infection, I knew though I was eating well, I was exercising every day. I had to continue upgrading how I took care of my health. And I fell upon Nick watching YouTube videos. He's a founder of Bear Performance Nutrition, which is a supplement company. And Nick has done a fascinating job building an amazing business, but he also lets you into his life through his videos on his diet, his exercise. So I really started to study Nick. In fact, I use his Hybrid Athlete 2.0 workout today. And so he's my guy when it comes to health and fitness. And last but not least, the man, the myth, the legend, Donald Miller, the founder of storybrand. One of the things I'm excited about is I am getting storybrand certified as a guide later this month in February. And I know part of that course is going to be led by Donald Miller. And Donald Miller is a master when it comes to how to tell a story, how to build a brand, and he's even written a book recently, Business Made simple on how to run a business lean effectively that is extremely profitable. So when it comes to my own business, which is built around helping advisors and agencies build a brand, build a brand message and how to build an effective business for myself, Donald Miller has become a go to guy. So I watch his videos, I took his Business Made simple course, I listened to his Business Made simple podcast, and he is just a gentleman that has it dialed in on how to create a super successful business through marketing, which is what my business is built upon. So now it just so happens that these are five males doesn't mean I am only focused on men. But when it comes to these five areas of my life today, mindset, investing, happiness, fitness and business, these are the guys I go to. I don't go to YouTube, I don't go follow all these different people because I just want to digest so much content possible. No, no, no. I go to YouTube, I go to the podcast and these are the guys I learn from. They're at my round table. This allows me to eliminate all the other opinions, all the other ideas that could paralyze myself. And because I have made the conscious choice to say, nope, these are the men or women that I'm learning from and I am just going to take action on what they tell me to do. And this has had unbelievable effects, impacts on my business and my life. And so I wanted to pass it on to you. Think about today. Who's sitting at your round table. What areas of your life, of your business do you need to approve and who then can become those mentors even if you don't know them? These aren't people you have to know personally. I don't know any of these people personally. Who are the mentors that you can go to that you can study, whether it's through YouTube, through courses, maybe they're holding a live event you want to go to. But who are the people that are going to sit at your board, that you're at your roundtable to help you up level both areas of life and business? Because I promise you get focused like that on personal development, professional development, your life, your relationships, your money, your businesses are going to go to a complete, completely different level. So hope that helps. Again, you don't need to create a vision board to do that, but figure out who's going to sit at your roundtable this year and get very hyper focused on who you're going to learn from. Your business, your life, your significant other, your kids, whoever are going to thank you for it.
