Andy Neary delivers a short motivational monologue recounting a childhood anecdote: as a kid he was lazy and overweight and was teased; at age ~12 his older sister told him “if you'd eat the salad more, you wouldn't be so fat,” which made him cry and became a lasting motivator. He explains that recalling that moment helps him push through reluctance to exercise even 30 years later, and he invites viewers to share their own driving moments in the comments or via message.

Do you believe fear can drive you to perform? To be your best? I believe the answer is yes. Let me give you an example. When I was a kid, I was lazy and I was rather chunky. In fact, if I were to show you my seventh grade basketball team photo and I picked myself out, you probably wouldn't believe me. And when you saw me, you would laugh. I was chunky and I often got picked on for it. But there was one event that year that still drives me to be my best. Today. You see, it was a summer evening. My sister and I were home alone. She's six years older than I and she made dinner and she made a nice salad that night and I refused to eat it. And she made one comment that probably seemed small in the moment. Little did she know it would have an impact on me 30 years later. And this is what she said. You do realize that if you'd eat the salad more, you wouldn't be so fat. Now, my sister and I have long made up since then and I love her to death. But that one comment. Yes, I cried in the moment, but that one comment still drives me today, 30 years later, when I get up and I don't really feel like doing a workout, guess what I go to? I go back to that 12 year old version of myself who was lazy, who was chunky, and I say never again. And I get my ass out and I do that workout. So what event, what moment in your life drives you to be the best version of yourself you can be? I dare you to share that moment in the comments below or shoot me a message and let's connect. Because it's those little events, those little moments in time that you never want to go to, that you fear going back to that can drive you to unbelievable success.
