Andy Neary delivers a brief, candid YouTube monologue about the harms of comparing oneself to others. Drawing on a personal reaction to social-media posts about peers' entrepreneurial success (one cited as moving from ~$50,000/yr as a teacher to a seven-figure business), he warns that comparison erases recognition of one’s own progress and calls comparison “the thief of joy,” concluding with the direct advice: don’t compare — be yourself.

So have you ever caught yourself falling back into an old habit that you're not really proud of? I did today. It's called comparison. I saw some social media posts from two people I absolutely respect and love and they are killing it in their business. Get this, one has literally gone from making I think it's like $50,000 a year as a teacher to now an entrepreneur with a seven figure business. That's amazing. But what it did is it immediately had me comparing myself saying what am I doing wrong? What's the difference between them and me? Nothing. And I forgot all about the success I've had. I forgot all about the progress I have made. So don't let yourself get caught into the trap of comparison. It is the thief of joy because it's so easy to watch what everybody else is doing and then immediately forget all the progress, all the wins you've had and it's just a crappy place to be. So just shooting this real and raw today, my advice for you is just don't compare yourself to anyone. You are you and be you.
