In this Monday‑motivation monologue, Andy Neary opens with two quotes—“Plant faithfully, surrender the harvest” and “Make the plans, but surrender your grip on them.” He explains that trying to control outcomes creates anxiety, frustration, and ties self‑worth to results. Instead, he urges listeners to focus on what they can control: preparation, attitude, energy, and how they show up in meetings, travel, and other engagements. While outcomes (client reactions, prospect decisions, travel conditions) are beyond control, surrendering them allows greater presence and reduces stress. Andy shares a recent personal example of being more present during business travel when he let go of the outcome. He concludes by repeating the quotes and encouraging the audience to serve, impact, and have an amazing week without obsessing over results.

Hey, hey, Monday morning. This is your Monday motivation for August 31st. I got 2 quotes I'm going to read you today. Plant faithfully, surrender the harvest. And make the plans, but surrender your grip on them. Good advice for both of us today. As you enter a new week, it is so easy to want to control the outcomes. This has been a recurring theme in my life, but all that does is lead to a lot of anxiety and a lot of frustration. And you end up tying results to your identity and your self-worth. So here's my encouragement to you today as you enter a new week: control what you can control. You can control how you prepare for those upcoming prospect and client meetings. You can control how you show up for that team meeting. You can control the attitude and the energy you bring to all of your engagements this week, whether it be business or personal. But you cannot control the outcome of those events. You cannot control how a client reacts in a meeting. You cannot control how a prospect reacts in a finalist presentation. You can't control if a prospect says yes or no to you, but you can control how you show up and how prepared you are when you show up. I have travel this week. I cannot control how much or how well that travel is going to go, even though I would love to. So you have to surrender the control. This is something I have struggled with for a lot, a lot of A lot of my life because I do try to control outcomes, and I'm giving you the same advice I'm giving myself. Let go. I think when you let go of the outcome, it allows you to be more present in the moment because you're not trying to focus on how the outcome's going to go. I know I experienced that just last week on some business travel, just being fully present in the moment because, hey, I can't control the outcome. So anyways, let's go. As we enter the week, be prepared, bring the energy, bring the right attitude. Look to serve and impact others, but by all means, do not try to control that outcome. I'm going to say these quotes one more time. Plant faithfully, but surrender the harvest, and make the plans, but surrender your grip on them. Let's go have an amazing week.
