Andy Neary (speaker) tells a personal anecdote from early in his sales career in financial planning where he compromised his integrity to make a sale by moving his parents' investments on a mentor's advice. He reflects on the long-term damage of pursuing quick wins, urges salespeople to prioritize clients' best interests, sell from the heart, and invites viewers to comment about how they maintain integrity.

All right, I'm about to admit something that I'm not very proud of. It was early on in my sales career, I was in financial planning and I was struggling to make a sale to make money. And a mentor of mine at the time had told me that he was gonna help me out. He was gonna move my parents investments from one vehicle to the next so that I could make some quick money. And I was struggling so much at the time, I went with it. And I remember that night when I came home and had made that sale that day and told my girlfriend about it. And the look in her face made me realize just how disappointed she was because I had sold out just so I could. And it still cringes me to think about it today. The good news is my parents investments were fine, but I was willing to get rid of my integrity just to make a sale. And that makes me want to ask you that question. If you're out there struggling right now to sell to make money, are you willing to sell out just to sell more? Are you willing to say whatever it takes to get a sale? Are you willing to forget the details about the sale, just get it in and then worry about the details after the fact? Man, that's not how you create a long term business. That's not how you create long term wins, short wins, quick wins create a lack of integrity. And so if you're out there right now just trying to say anything you can to get a sale, I want you to think about that, I want you to think about what it is you're doing. Are you really putting the client's best interest in mind or are you just worried about your own quick wins? And if you're not happy about what you're doing because that is how you're selling, maybe it's time to find something else to do. But all I know is when it comes to selling, when it comes to doing what you do, you have always got to have your clients interests in mind first. And you've got to sell from the heart, not from your mouth just to sell something. So hope that helps. Do me a favor, shoot me a message below, let me know what you're doing today to always make sure you've got integrity in mind and you always have your client's interest first.
