Andy Neary advises female insurance agency owners to stay active and persistent in a male-dominated field. Women make most household financial and healthcare decisions, yet the industry skews male. Show up confident at the table, make your presence known, and most male colleagues won't push back.
You know, this is not an industry filled with a ton of females. We know, you know, sure. What advice would you give another female agency owner right now?
She's just got to stay running with the dogs. That's my thing. It's very easy, especially when you're around a lot of men in this industry and it becomes just like the good old boys club. So I think with women it's like you've just got to keep pressing in. You've got to keep like making your presence known, staying plugged in, you know. The thing that's so funny in this industry is that women make most the financial decisions in a house, especially when it comes to like health care, like where do we bring our kids or where do I go for this care? And so it's always been funny to me how many men are in this industry because I'm like, even in your own house, you're not making these decisions. It's always women. With women, it's just they've got to be confident at their seat at the table and know that, yes, you're in a very male dominated industry. But again, most of them, most of the guys I've come across are not, you know, they're not bad guys.
Yeah, running with the dogs. Just gotta run with the dogs. I like that.
