Here are 3 PUBLIC SPEAKING TIPS You Need to Leverage

Andy Neary shares three public speaking tips: practice your material instead of depending on slides, hook your audience in the first 90 seconds, and use stories for roughly 80% of your talk and facts for 20%.

Okay, so last weekend I had the chance to speak at the Ascend conference. The topic, the Power of Public Speaking. In the talk, I shared three things you can do right now to up level your presentations. Number one, just practice. You're winging it too much. You're spending too much time on PowerPoint slides, you're relying on them as a crutch. And when you get up on stage, it is obvious. Put the time and effort into practicing, outline your talk, write it out and then practice, practice, practice. I promise you'll be giving the talk of your life in no time. Number two, connect with your audience right away. Like in the first 90 seconds. Have them stand up, ask a question, bring somebody up on stage, whatever you need to do. Connect with them emotionally. Because if you do, you'll have their attention for the rest of the talk. And number three, tell stories. You're focusing too much time right now on your product, your processes and your stats. And nobody cares. 80% stories, 20% facts that back up those stories. Alright, there you have it. If you want to uplevel your talks, get better presentations right now, focus on practicing. Connect with your audience right away and then just get on stage and tell stories. And last but not least, if you're a conference planner, an event planner, an association in need of a speaker, you're looking for a speaker. I'd love to help. So I put a link in the comments below. Go there, click on it. Let's connect. I'd love to see what your audience is looking for and I'd love to see if I can be of assistance to you, your conference or your event. Thank you. I'm grateful for the opportunity.
