Andy Neary offers brief spoken advice for people hesitant to share on social media: people will care about what you say when your content demonstrates you care. He urges creators to prioritize bringing value (helping others, sharing useful stories) rather than posting to provoke or sell, and to start sharing because their voice can help someone overcome challenges.

So last week I had an opportunity to do a workshop around the topic of social media for a group of HR professionals. And it was interesting. At the end of the conversation, end of the workshop, one of the attendees came up to me and said, you know, one of the biggest struggles I have with social media is why would anybody care what I have to say? And it got me thinking, and it leads me to this piece of advice I want to give you. People will care what you have to say when what you have to say shows you care. My point is, every day you come on LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, your number one goal should be to bring value. If you're just posting, to just throw out some radical opinion or just to pontificate or try to sell people stuff, don't go on social media. But if your ultimate goal is to give value, to bring value, I promise you, at some point when you say something, it's gonna hit butt somebody at the right time, and you are gonna help that person get out of a difficult situation. You're gonna help a person overcome a challenge. So my point to you is this. Just get started. Start sharing content, your voice on social media. So because you're denying the world the opportunity to hear it, and I'm going to say it one more time, people will care what you have to say when what you have to say shows you care. So get started today. Share your story with the world. I promise you, you will help somebody out.
