Neary diagnoses desperation as causing sellers to ‘take’ rather than ‘give,’ cites conversations with health-insurance industry partners as examples, and urges daily practice of generosity (no expectation) to achieve long-term sales success.

If you're in sales right now, I'm here to tell you that the key to selling is to look, to give without any expectations. Listen, it's middle of August right now, fourth quarter is right around the corner, and you might be behind your sales goal. And if you are, it's very easy to get desperate. And here's what happens when you get desperate. You start looking for quick wins. And when you start looking for quick wins, you stop giving. You think about ways you can take, think about ways you can get. I've talked to a lot of industry partners in the health insurance industry lately, and it amazes me that within five to ten minutes of our talk, they're already asking me about opportunities I can bring them. They're already asking for ways they can take. Here's my advice to you. If you want to crush your numbers in the fourth quarter and blow your numbers out in 20, 20 and beyond, wake up every day just looking to give without any expert expectation. That's the only way to win the sales game long term. So if you're behind your goals right now, I know it's so hard to focus on the long game. But do me a favor, wake up today, wake up tomorrow with the expectation that you're just gonna give. Because if you just give without any expectation whatsoever, everything else will take care of itself.
