Andy Neary delivers short, practical advice about using social media to make meaningful connections rather than chasing vanity metrics (likes, comments, follower counts). So are you on social media to connect with good people, or are you here just to collect a following connections or collections? Here's my advice. I talked to so many that come on LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and they're upset because they've posted two or three videos and they've only got five likes and two comments.
What are you here for? Are you here to make connections with the right audience, your audience, or are you just here for vanity? Yes, there are people collecting thousands of followers, but do you think they're actually connecting with the right people? You just need to connect with one. That's all that matters. Are you making an impact on one person, the person you can help? Everything changed for me when I stopped going after the Vanity and I realized all I need to do is talk to my audience. Yes. Did my engagement go down? Did the comments go down? Absolutely. But as long as you're talking to the right people, that's all that matters. If you're here to use social media to create business opportunities, you need to talk to your audience despite the likes, despite the comments. Because here's the reality. The person who's gonna shoot you, that direct message, that private message that says, hey, you are absolutely impacting me. Can I connect with you? Is the person who has never liked or commented on your stuff. So as we enter a new year, you need to be on social media. It is gonna help your business, but you need to be talking to your aud. Let go of the vanity. It doesn't matter. You just impacting one person is all that counts.
