Andy Neary coaches insurance advisors on how self-doubt before presentations costs them deals. Advisors who doubt themselves come in second. He says flip it: stop asking if you have a shot and start expecting to win, then plan how you'll execute after you've already won.
You know, I coach insurance advisors, I coach insurance agencies. And every week I'm having conversations with advisors who have a big opportunity coming up to win a big piece of business. Some cases these are businesses that could change or wins that opportunities that could change the trajectory of their career.
But the moment we start talking about the presentation coming up, I can sense the doubts. I can sense the.
Do I really have a real shot here? And they're already letting the seeds of doubt impact.
A meeting, a presentation that hasn't even happened yet. And I will tell you, more times than not, when they are in that frame of mind, I know the result. I'm going to check in with them a week or two later after the presentation and they came in second place again.
If we could just flip that mindset of, listen, I've got this big opportunity. It is not a matter if I'm gonna win it, it is when I win it. I just need to figure out how I'm gonna make sure I execute after I've won that piece of business. How am I going to make sure I not only win it, but I far exceed what I expected now, today, I don't know how I'm going to win it. I don't know what my presentation is going to look like. This is going to win it. But I do know I'm going to win it. I expect to win that. I expect the miraculous. As Mike A mentioned in his podcast.
