Short YouTube talk by Andy Neary encouraging insurance-industry presenters—especially those speaking at the Ascend conference—to thoroughly prepare and practice their presentations rather than ‘winging it’ or relying on elaborate slide decks. The speaker frames public speaking as a high-impact tool for reaching target audiences and issues a direct challenge and call-to-action to put in the work to deliver compelling, results-oriented talks.

Hey, Happy Monday. So I'm super excited to be speaking at the Ascend conference later this week. It's a really big conference within the insurance industry. The topic, the power of public speaking. Listen, public speaking is one of the most effective tools you can use to get your message in front of your target audience. When you're on stage, when you're in front of your audience, you are the subject matter expert, the authority for that certain time period. But here's my challenge to you. If you're an insurance advisor or an industry partner speaking at Ascend later this week, number one, congratulations. But two, are you prepared? Are you putting the time in this week to practice, to put your talk together so when you're on stage you can hit a home run or are you just gonna wing it? You gonna get up on stage and tell us about your product? Are you gonna put together a PowerPoint that's super elaborate with all these animations and you're just gonna rely on the PowerPoint to get you by? When you do, it's obvious you are not prepared and it's disrespectful to the audience. So here's my challenge. Whether you are presenting at Ascend later this week, or you just have to give a presentation to a prospect, to your team, in front of your boss, be prepared. Put the time in to practice the presentation, put the time in to tell good stories so that when you get those 5, 15, 30 minutes in front of your prospect, your team or your boss, you hit a home run. Because I promise you, when you put the effort, you put the time into practice to be prepared that that talk, those words that are going to come out of your mouth are going to be impactful, compelling, and they're going to get the results you want. So this week, if you've got to give a presentation, do me a favor. Put the work in, put the talk together and practice, practice, practice.
