Short YouTube monologue by Andy Neary (April 5, 2020) advising business owners that the COVID-19 pandemic is shrinking social distance and creating opportunities to connect with people they previously couldn't reach. He recommends shifting focus outward—serving audiences and communities—rather than operating from fear, arguing this will strengthen relationships and benefit businesses after the crisis.

So there's something that's on my mind right now that I wanted to share with you that I think could really help you out, especially if you own a business right now. We're all dealing with the same thing, right? This virus is literally attacking the world and it doesn't discriminate, it doesn't care what religion you are, what sexuality you are, what political stance you have. It literally does not care. And what that's done is it's actually brought the world to together. So here's how you can use that. Not to your advantage, but as an advantage right now for your business. You have two choices. You can either think inward right now and just focus on yourself and figure out how you're going to get through this, or you can actually use this as a time to think outward and figure out how you can give to your audiences, how you can give to anybody you interact with. Because here's what's going on right now. This is my opinion, the difference between you and somebody maybe way up here that you never thought you could connect with is shrinking. Because with this virus we're becoming a closer community. And your opportunity to connect with people right now that you might not have been able to connect with just a month ago has completely changed. If you use this as an opportunity to figure out how you can serve your audience and figure out how you can serve your community. And the more you do that, the more people you are going to impact. And because we are that tighter knit community, the chances, the odds that somebody you thought you could never get to just might reply, just might reach out to you and say, hey, even though I'm up here, I too am struggling. And out of this, whenever we come out of this scare, this COVID 19 epidemic or pandemic we're dealing with, your connections that you have and your business has could be on a completely different level. And so that's my advice to you for the weekend here is instead of focusing inward and operating out of fear and anxiety, figure out how you can focus outward, give serve and over index on that. Because I think you, your business and your bottom line eventually are going to be so much more happier for you because you did.
